Been waiting for this rebuttal. Perfect timing. I was caught up in the rapture hysteria before coming to Holy Orthodoxy. Everyday was filled with this sudden expectation to be sucked into the clouds. Everything on the news was somehow connected to the imminent rapture. It’s amazing how those caught up in this heresy connect every “sign” to a sudden departure of Gods people from planet earth. Only after reading the Scripture did I see that biblical watching was nothing like this. The Apostles and early Christians were not sitting around counting feast days and lining up astrological signs. I’d love to see you debate one of these popular rapture advocates. The amount of attention and popularity they get in America is astounding. A sign of the times I guess. Shows the danger of private interpretation of the Holy Scriptures apart from the Church. Seems like a psy-op.

@@maiaellyse7469 a Bible student who goes to a heretical Bible school will learn that heresies are "the way." No one taught anything about a rapture for the first 1,800 years of Christianity. Not even the early mainline Protestants taught your modernist heresy. To say that you believe it now is to claim that no one had the Holy Spirit or discernment to understand the Bible, even those who learned directly from the Apostles and left us writings, until relatively modern times. To believe you know more than the early Church because you're a Bible student is to have a demonic level of pride in your own intellect and also your spirituality, as the Scriptures are spiritually discerned.

@@abford03 Your bible says god created good and evil. And it's the bible on which the confusion is based (over 1000 _different_ christian denominations, in the US alone, each saying the others got it wrong). If an all-knowing creator god, who therefor knows exactly what'll confuse his creation and what they would understand correctly, comes up with a message for said creation, who then, to the best of their abilities and intentions, come to conflicting interpretations and confusion about god's supposed message, something this all-knowing god _knew_ in advance, it's this god who has created this confusion, _knowingly,_ to then have it scribbled down in its holy book that he _isn't the author of confusion,_ makes him a liar too.
Anyway: the book is full of examples of this god, committing evil acts and/or ordering ''his people'' to commit evil acts against others. I could provide you with countless examples of this (from original sin (punishing the children and their children's children for what their parents (or grand-grand-grand-parents) supposedly did wrong), to destroying (killing off) all that was dear to Job, just to satisfy His ego in a wager with Satan to ''hardening the Pharaohs heart'' just to show off His magic and kill off all Egyptian firstborns, to ordering genocides, wherein some of which He made the specific point of them, having to kill the infants and cut the fetuses from their pregnant mothers wombs too; all the way down to punishing disbelievers in hell, as if belief (or having become convinced of something) is a matter of choice; as if someone like me who didn't find the book and/or what preacherfolk are selling, convincing, could -and should've decided to find it convincing and believe it anyway? It doesn't work like that, and you would think that an all-knowing benevolent creator god would understand that too, right?
Could you explain to me how you got to the conclusion that the god of the bible is _'the good guy'_ (so to speak) of the story, while there's so much evil in his actions, throughout the books it contains?

What he means is: at least the pagans had a concept of the divine, and of the spiritual world. These poor souls across the North America and the Western Europe have the mindset of a moron. The shallowness and stupidity (try talking to the people about anything deeper than mortgage, real estate, taxes, investments, vacations, work...etc, and you'll be met with that empty gaze) in these regions is just astounding! What I often ask myself is: as a society, have we already passed the red line beyond which we have finally become irredeemable?

When it comes to people peddling end times false prophecies I always ask "given that we are approaching the end times, what should we do to make ourselves right with God?"
If the answer is anything other than prayer, repentence, fasting, evangelising, worship and love then they aren't serious. I know a handful of evangelicals that are saying that the end is near but merely use this belief to alienate themselves by calling those who don't believe as they do "Sheeple" or "Agents of Anti-Christ", these people would have us feverishly consulting information on stars and the movements of planets, irrelevant political developments, gematria and other such wastes of our time. This would not be to help people but to make you feel seperate from them, not in a spirit of love but in a spirit of superiority.

Just to add that many people are prone to using "their" religion, class, political beliefs, ad infinitum, to feel superior to everyone who is not part of their "in group." Humanity is prone to it whether they are Christians or not. Yes, it's wrong, but walking with Christ is a journey. None of us are perfect right out of the gate. Some of us learn many hard lessons along the way. I'm almost 70 and I don't feel like I'm even remotely Christ-like yet.

Jesus says when you see these things look up your redemption is near, But in the meantime we are to continue saving the lost at any cost and also making sure that our personal lives are found in Christ! It's okay to be excited for the lords return but seems like way too many people are obsessed with everything going on and forgetting about the great commission or our own lifes calling! The biggest thing we need to be careful about today is deception!!! Stay in the word and rightfully divide the words of truth! I still tried to push through and ask questions to the leaders and they made me feel as if i didnt have the Holy Spirit, so i left and turned away from the church and decided to read the bible before i made a decision to attend a church again. I only recently heard of eastern orthodoxy, but from my personal bible readings, my dislike for praise and worship(todays idea) of it, and my distaste for those fake tongues was the Holy Spirit convicting me into othodoxy. That alone is fishy. Also these people all worshipped similar pagan Gods and similar language. Very interesting. They also repped heraldry like the Lion of Judah (Trumps Logo for everything) and Eagles which are all over the European nobility flags in the middle ages. Many of these families such as the Massimo's ( Whose family Crest has the Lion) claim ancestry to Roman General Flavius Maximus 200 BC. I think there is more to the lost Tribes of Israel idea. I witnessed first-hand a Y2K related incident at the Fortune 500 pharma company I worked at the turn of the year from 1998 to 1999. At new year, there was a fire in one of the main electric motors that ran the AC for the whole building. The malfunction somehow occurred when the computer looked one year in advance (to 2000). As I recall, this incident shut down that small mfg facility for several weeks until the motor could be replaced and the issue resolved. So, I knew then, one year ahead, that, unless countermeasures were taken, serious issues could arise due to Y2K.

2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him. first part is literal coming. The second part, "our gathering" relates to the rapture.
2Thessalonians 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. (Yep. You missed the rapture, the day of Christ is at hand. You're in the time of "Jacob's trouble").
    2Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a "falling away" first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
The problem here is the "falling away". All the old Bibles from Tynedale to the 1599 Geneva use "departing". Only the Bishops bible for some strange reason used "falling away". Then again, the Bishops bible was not well received at the time.
So, the 70th week will not start except the rapture comes first. It will not be a secret as the world will be freaked out and in a panic. Someone will have to step up and take control. Do we see where this is going?

It was through richer study and patience that I could leave it behind. All it leads to is disappointment and Nihilism. In many ways (as much as I urge to see my Lord), I see it as a blessing that we persevere. Many of us could agree that our sins would be too much for us to enter paradise l which yes, is terrifying but I am extremely grateful that we have that extra time for repentance and discipleship. I used to always watch Hal Lindsay with my dad growing up and believed what he said about end times prophecy even though I couldn’t wrap my head around how they even made sense lol.
Like “China’s the only country that can field 200,000,000 soldiers because they have a population of 1 billion.” It made sense to a slow boy like me even though I couldn’t understand how the government could budget food and sustain such a large amount of people.
Or when he says “when the Euphrates river dries up, that’s when Israel’s enemies can then cross and invade” and I thought to myself “how can a river stop an Air Force from Iran or China? And can’t they build bridges? And don’t they have the ability to cross through other means of transportation in modern times? They did this stuff in WW2 and before.”
I also realized he was backtracking his Gog and Magog propaganda by saying “back then I said Russia, not the Soviet Union” even though back then he was precisely popular because of his capitalization of Soviet Union/Cold War end times sensationalism.
I could go on but I’ll just say it took me years to realize he was just shoehorning his ridiculous interpretations into Scripture.
Also, thanks Jay for mentioning that book that John Hagee wrote. I had no idea he did that. I used to watch him too because of my dad but I never liked the guy. Seemed too off to me, like religious spirit evil.

In 1976, when I was 13 years old, I had a wide awake, real, in full color VISION of the Lord's Return...
We lived out in the country in the middle of dusty plowed fields, dirt roads and woods in south Georgia. Everything looked kind of brown and crispy, like it needed rain bad. The corn field across the road in front of the house was starting to turn brown and die.
I went to my bedroom, which faced out the front side of the house and looked out onto our front yard, which had a semi-circular dirt driveway and beside the left entrance was an old dogwood tree which had to be at least a hundred years old. Highway 341 ran from east to west in front of our house, which faced north, and the cornfield I spoke of earlier was on the other side of the highway. There was a slight rise in the middle of this field and you could not see the trees on the other side, so it looked like an ocean of corn that went off into the horizon.
As I lay across my bed looking out the window, contemplating what I saw before me, I began to hear music in the distance. I specifically heard it in my right ear and the direction from which it came made me think of the high school band which practiced several miles southeast from where I lived. When conditions were right we could hear the band playing, but usually only heard the faint beat of drums. This sounded like trumpets and as I was thinking this to myself, I began to notice the music getting louder and louder, coming closer and closer, very quickly.
Within a few seconds the sound wasn't just something that was exterior, but it was inside my head as well, reverberating throughout my entire body. It was so loud and it sounded like lightning crashed directly over my head and, in that split second, the trumpet sound thundered throughout my body and throughout the entire world...everything went dark and my bed and the earth shook violently.
In a flash, I was no longer lying on my bed, but I was standing outside my bedroom window in the front yard and I beheld the scene in front of me with tremendous awe. It was still my front yard, only now everything was different. It seemed as if my entire range of vision was a huge 3D movie screen and I was in the middle of it.
The trumpets continued to sound and I saw that the blue, sunny sky had turned black and the clouds churned and the wind blew with a violence that I had never experienced. The corn field was now a sea of wheat that was golden brown and ripe for harvest and I could see every stalk of wheat individually, billions of them. And I watched as the wind thrashed the wheat until it was beaten down by the storm. I now know that the Bible speaks several times about, in the end time, when the wheat is ripe for harvest, how the wheat will be separated from the tares. The tares are gathered and bundled together for burning and the wheat is gathered into the barn.
Then I noticed the dogwood tree. It was mid-July, so of course I know there should not have been any blossoms on it, they usually bloom around Easter...but the tree was in full bloom. I had never seen anything like this. You couldn't see any leaves on the tree because of the millions of dogwood blossoms. It looked as if it were lit from within, by a glowing whitest of white, neon light and it glowed gloriously against the darkened sky. Now, I know the Bible says no man knows the day nor hour that Jesus will return, but if we watch for the signs, we can know the season. I have always felt that He might come back in the spring when the dogwood tree is in bloom. Of all the things that could have been highlighted in a vision; why the dogwood tree? I believe there is a specific message here. (Update: recently, I prayed about this and I feel the Lord placed into my spirit that this represents the fullness of the gentiles coming in).
Just as I was taking all of this in, lightning filled the sky and the trumpets thundered over head again and in an instant there appeared two angels. They were dressed in white robes, facing each other up in the air and blowing golden trumpets. They were huge and filled the sky in front of me and I knew that the entire world must be seeing this as well. When I say huge, I mean like the size of the highest mountains, literally.
I didn't think the trumpets could get any louder, but they grew louder still, building to a great crescendo and I heard a great shout that was louder than anything that you could imagine. And with that shout, it's as if the earth fell silent, the black, violent clouds began to roll back onto themselves from the center of the northeastern sky and I saw light in the distance. It was more a combination of light and clearing of the clouds in the distance that got my attention. As I looked up at this shaft of light and clearing sky, I saw what seemed to be fluttering and movement in the distance. As it came into view, I saw Jesus on a white horse and behind him were millions of angels and saints on white horses. It was at this moment, when I realized what I was seeing, that it disappeared and I was back in my room lying on my bed. Everything was back to normal and I was again looking out at a bright, sunny day.

1:20 ''(...) odd beliefs, contrary to the doctrine and teachings of the apostles that was handed down,'' I hear you say, and I wondered: do you have any evidence for the claim that there are teachings and a doctrine that originated from said apostles? And how does one determine what is or isn't ''a genuine religious experience''? (are genuine questions, btw)
Also: demagogue Tailor Green and some anonymous nitwits, waiting in line for a Trump rally, said silly shit about the eclipse being a sign from god (one that cosmology had calculated to be given on that exact time and place, long before it happened, apparently, as it can for future ''god-signs'' in the form of eclipses, too). No-one else said anything of the sort. Am I to understand that MTG and those MAGA nitwits _are_ ''the deep state, trying to distract us from true Christianity'' by coming up with false ideas about messages from god? And what difference does it make to the state (deep or otherwise) if sincere believers ascribe stuff to god ? I mean: isn't the god-belief a distraction, either way? (all these questions after just one and a half minutes in... wow)

I'd like to see more primary source information about them being into esoterics because they clashed many times with the Pope and all claims I can ever find of them being into occultism comes from the King of France who produced confessions under torture and duress and the main factor being that yet again the French crown strong armed the Pope into going along with Frankish madness so that he could seize the Templar wealth and banking system. The rest of the templars fled to Portugal, Spain, and Malta. Not saying they're great super heroes or anything, but I have yet to see a serious primary source that vindicates the claims of the Templars being into occultism. Plus a large part of the large banking and financial usury really starts to take off after the fall of Templar banking houses being superseded by the Medici and Venetian trade houses

Thank you so much for this, Jay. My dad used to watch Jack Van Impe regularly when I was a kid, and as a Baptist, he was of the belief that we should always be on this "End times watch". That was a kind of constant paranoia/hypervigilance that looking back, taints parts of my childhood (and turned me away from Christianity for a long time), but it also fueled my dad's mental illness. My Uncle was a huge fan of the Left Behind books, and its so strange to me that some Evangelicals out there make it some kind of grand vision, or almost as if its prophetic. The Rapture and Dispensationalism never made sense to me, I was always very skeptical and doubtful, but only after coming to Holy Orthodoxy did I do my studying and research. I wish I'd found Orthodoxy decades sooner so I could have shown my dad the truth before he passed away.

@@consolecoach It's a modern theological concept that-- in part-- is connected to "end times" beliefs and Biblical interpretation among evangelical churches, specifically that God would rapture the church before carrying out the rest of his divine plan or the Second Coming. It's connected to Premillennialism. Just as in the days of Noah, Jesus will return to save some from the Wrath of God that will be ushered onto the whole world at the end of this age. The notion of a rapture may or may not fit into that truth. It's pointless to resolve that unless and until the time comes. As Jesus warned be alert and watch in case it happens in one's time. If you don't then you will be like the virgins without spare oil in the Parable of the Ten Virgins - you will not be saved from the Wrath of God.✝

I would also like to point out that christians should beware of the little things as well, not just the end of the world prophecies.
Things like believing you will have bad luck if a black cat crosses your path, or if you break a mirror (superstitions), amateur palm reading (‘for fun’ some people say 🙄), playing cards and with cards (e.g. tarot), reading the zodiac, yoga and meditation, etc.
All of the activities/ points listed above may seem innocent enough at first sight, but it’s the stuff that can sneak up on you that usually gets you. Overlooking these smaller issues, makes us more susceptible to for example watching these “artists” literally perform satanic rituals during award shows, and not reacting in any way because we’ve been conditioned to regards this degeneracy as high ‘art’.
Watch out for this, and don’t freak out if you just happen to see ‘666’ somewhere 😄 It probably means nothing 99% or the time.

"'Shouldn't a thief or an adulterer be eliminated just for being who he is?' No, and you'd do better to phrase your question like this: 'Should we do away with this person because he's mistaken and misled about matters of supreme importance and because he's become blind - not in the sense that he's lost the ability to distinguish white and black by sight, but because he's lost the mental ability to distinguish good and bad?' If you put the question like this, you'll realize how inhumane it is and see that it's no different from saying, 'So shouldn't we kill this blind person or this deaf person?' If a person is injured most by the loss of the most important things, and if the most important thing in every individual is right will, what's the point in getting angry with someone if he loses it?" (Discourses, I.18.5-8) - Epictetus C1: misguided people should not be hated. C2: [We should attempt to persuade misguided people of the errors of their way; failing that, we should endure them as one more example of how misguided human beings can be.] "When Vespasian sent for Helvidius Priscus and commanded him not to go into the senate, he replied, 'It is in your power not to allow me to be a member of the senate, but so long as I am, I must go in.' 'Well, go in then,' says the emperor, 'but say nothing.' 'Do not ask my opinion, and I will be silent.' 'But I must ask your opinion.' 'And I must say what I think right.' 'But if you do, I shall put you to death.' 'When did I tell you that I am immortal? You will do your part, and I will do mine: it is your part to kill; it is mine to die, but not in fear; yours to banish me; mine to depart without sorrow.'" (Discourses, I.2.19-21) - Epictetus also recounts another episode, this one involving Paconius Agrippinus, a Stoic who opposed Nero:
"[Agrippinus] was informed that his case was being heard in the Senate. 'That's as may be. But it's the fifth hour now' - this was when it was his custom to exercise and take a cold bath - 'so let's go and exercise.' Afterward, someone approached him and said, 'You've been condemned.' 'To exile,' says he, 'or death?' 'Exile.' 'What about my property?' 'It's not been seized.' 'So let's go to Aricia and have breakfast there.' That's what it's like to have trained oneself properly [in philosophy]." (Discourses, I.2.28-31) [Stoicism is not a pacifist philosophy, only one that is charitable to everyone and attempts to minimize violence. Sometimes, when all else fails, we do need to take up arms and fight. If we can learn, peace will come, but it isn't easy to live what one has learned. Who do we know that lived the way, the truth, and the life?] Enjoy celebrating Easter on May fifth.
