Thanks for taking the time to video this, very informative, if your like me and are always skint so have to do it yourself, excellent camera quality btw :)
I was more concerned about the sound when it was cranking. It sounded down on compression on one cylinder. Bit of dirt behind a valve maybe. Runs mint now though.
I'm retired now worked with many tec's in my career some absolute idiots it's nice to see a tec who knows what he is doing, pleasure watch you work, Nice video 😁👍
Good morning. Please tell me, what be the Best oil for MG ZS engine 1.5L 106h.,year 2023...?? . I live in France here the temperatures sometimes reach +40 summer.🤔 Regards
Brilliant video 📹 👏 Hi Steve I just wanna ask the rotation of the crankshaft pully in MG3 automatic transmission. I only confused, I rotate the crankshaft pully in clockwise and its stop but if I rotate in counter clockwise it rotate smoothly. Thanks for the answer Steve.
You should never turn the engine counter clockwise! The timing will jump. If it stops when turning the engine then chances are a piston has hit a valve. Something is wrong and you need to check the timing.
Evening mate, im very tempted to purchase a mg mg3. I popped up this evening to check out the 2018 white model you have for sale at the garage. Based on your very sound knowledge, are they a decent car for a family of three to potter around in?
Hi. Stumbled across your channel and subscribed. Great content. I’m trying to Sort my mother in laws 2014 MG3. Are you able to tell me where the crank position sensor is located ? Keep up the good work 👍
No not really. Most of the time they're in for routine servicing. I'm not going to make videos of doing oil changes all day long. I only film stuff that I think is worth watching and that usually is the big jobs, so it make them look worse than what they actually are.
I know that mate, the point I was making was that I only film the big jobs like engines and stuff which is a tiny proportion of what comes in on a day to day basis. So I'm probably making them look worse than they are because I only film the big problems.
Brilliant video, not sure I would attempt it myself but after watching these I might, if needed. BTW done anything on GS? Got a set of rear pads I need to change. Keep up the good work, always enjoy the honest approach to your videos
Good result Steve, the owners should be pleased with that. Are those cam sprockets fitted on tapered ends on the camshafts, no keys? What's the difference between the original tensioner and the modded one that comes in the new kit? Good interesting content to watch, thanks.
No tapers, no keyways, they're fully floating. That's why it's important to pin it all before undoing the crank pulley and cam sprockets . I don't know what the internal differences of the tensioner are.
@@pistonbroke Watching more of your videos just love the channel it really made me appreciate what goes into a repair. So thank you for the continued uploads it really helps people with your advice. Thank you

When the battery was low, I was like, “oh shit!!!!” Then you said it was dead. Phwwwww! Runs like a top. Nice work, gents!

Things have moved on a fair bit since then! Give me a classic car any day, much easier. Cheers 👍

Good cars. I've had one for 5 years with no real problems, just wear and tear stuff.
@@pistonbroke excellent. Will try and pop up to test drive it this week.
Great job mate 👍🏻never doubted it would start first time 😆😆👍🏻👍🏻

At the back of the engine just below the starter motor
@@pistonbroke top man ! Thanks for the quick reply, really appreciate it.
No worries 👍
Bang on, and well done for persevering with the video, despite the cold. Top man👍
Years ago I used to think belts and tensioners were an engineering cop-out. Now I'm not so sure.
So glad it started ok after changing the timing chain. Are the head sizes different then between modified and unmodified tensioners?
Yeah, old one is 27mm, new one is 21mm
@@pistonbroke Great thanks for that. Just checked mine and it's a 27mm. Keep up the good work. 👍
Seem to have a lot of problems with them MG's

There's one vid on a GS, the common ABS, TPMS, TC fault. I don't see many GSs, only the odd one for a service now and then.

I definitely caught your cold bug watching this I have a sore throat and coughing.
It's a new strain that gets transmitted via the internet. We're all doomed!
