    THANK YOU for including my comment in the video! Very honored and you made my day! I should have added, if you are being injured all the time, you are in the wrong school or have the wrong training partners. Injuries tend to stay with us for life once we are adults...

      We definitely shouldn't be perfectly untouched over the course of a career, but when I hear the stories of how Ché's generation trained (and the one before his) - it is no surprise that most of them - 95%, probably - have been forcibly retired from karate due to injuries.
      There was also a great Sensei we reference often in our videos; between the rugby and the karate, he was a bit punch drunk in his twilight years. While many dojos have gone to the other extreme and removed contact altogether, it is understandable why.
      Always a delight, Razorback!

      Ah, it makes us so happy to hear from you! We love your work, and are also subscribers. But we are just a baby baby channel compared to you, so it is such a big honour to hear from someone so far ahead of us! 🤗

    Also kata or gata in judo, and pre japan karate, was literally the two person drills. Thy solo kata was something derived and used for development.

      I wish I had the time to go study judo more fully - what a beautiful style.
      Thank you for the insight, Migs!

      Truly, you have been with us from the very start, with our extremely rocky production quality - it makes us happy to see you so regularly in our comments, and one of our very first paid members as well! Thank you, Daniel, truly. We dream of visiting Germany, and we hope to meet you there someday :D

    Let me agree with You , Sir! As in every walk of life, in Karate the roots are to be refound mostly by practicing established forms and teachings handed by by tradition of the Masters of the trade (instead of reinventing the wheel). Then creatively applying it in Bunkai, before actually using them, if need be.
    Watching this video interpretation, under creativity I understand your stepping aside when blocking, and when blocking replacing the Uchi Uke into a two handed Age Uke (a safer option for beginners, I have only recently seen fropm see the late Soke Yoshimi´s preesentation in Italy, ) and you adding Aikido -irimi Tenkan move to get behind the oppoponets and armlevers forcing him on ground to defiunitely show his place under the sun.
    Well,that´s OK, just let me point out that when teaching students knowing the Kata to be detailed in Bunkai, make sure to point out the potential variations of stances, directions of movements and alternatives to the techniques emploed. Involving multiple opponents´ applications - another inherent feature of Kata- could only raise the quality of presentation. Best regards, Paul, 68, retired instructor of Goju ryu Karate.

    Has Brian grown the beard to cushion the blows?

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  Рік тому

      Possibly! There was an interesting study done on whether beards help with blows (but wasn't well-designed, read more here: www.forbes.com/sites/jvchamary/2020/05/28/punch-beard-evolution/?sh=25ee3cd878c2)
      Mostly, I think he grows it as revenge, as it grows out evenly and beautifully in a matter of weeks, whereas Ché can't do that 😆

      Привет!
      Спасибо за добрые слова! Мы стараемся ставить русские субтитры на все наши видео - я прорабатываю наш архив и исправляю все субтитры. Русский входит в десятку самых популярных языков, на которых говорят наши зрители, поэтому установка русских субтитров абсолютно оправдана. Пожалуйста, будьте терпеливы, поскольку я работаю над почти 200 видео!
