I'm a metalhead to death too but I like all types of music, and when I went to see The Weeknd live, I was surprised with the ability and skills his drummer had. He was crushing it all the way. You should check one of his live concerts here, the musicians are pretty good!
You guys should see the drummer for Miguel, Loniel Robinson. He used to be in letlive. (A post-hardcore band) and that dude goes ham and looks like he’s having so much fun every night
@@nickrobert5323 if your wedge is delayed, so you hear what the audience hears, the drums will come even later, so it all will be a mess of delay and everythings goin out of tempo...
backing tracks are the standard in modern live music, not to mention the tightness a click track provides to the whole show. some like it, some say it's dehumanizing, I personally love it
Saw you guys last night in Boston. I had no idea how much more dynamic everything sounded with the band behind her and goddamn you’re an unbelievable drummer!
Watching this right now as an production manager and audio engineer who hasn’t been on the road since March 2020 makes me cry inside. I miss it so much.
That extra bass in your mix is really groovy with the drums haha, super catchy That job must be such hard work, you have to be so steady, confident, and consistent with every move you make. You have to do a good job every time, without letting the anxiety of that affect your performance. I highly respect anyone capable of that
I’m not a drummer, I’m the pianist and singer at my church, and to me this is soo cool to see. Idk why, but usually when I see Ari’s concerts, or any other concerts, I always wonder how the band is playing, or what they’re doing behind the scenes from where they are. Plenty of respect to the bands of all artists.
Well, yeah. But the delay is actually needed for this size of a concert, by the time he hits any drum and he's on tempo, it would actually be delayed to the watchers/listeners, so sadly it's needed for UA-cam watchers...
@@EchaFahreza_ Okay, in real-time, if you were at a concert, believe it or not, the drummer has to be off tempo, as in ahead. The reason being is because sound travels, by the time the singer usually sings and the percussion and or band behind plays, it'll be a time change and it'll be noticeable if both were on beat perfectly.
This is why I think pop/rap music is incredibly underrated for drummers. Because most of these pop songs are recorded on electronic beats, you gotta listen to the live versions to realize how groovy and fun pop songs are for drums.
As a metal drummer who would get bored playing this, it’s truly amazing how he not only plays well, but also keeps the lively feeling and energy despite playing a drum piece one might find too simple. He truly is a drummer in that he keeps the flow and beat even of other “drummers” would give up out of boredom like me.
there’s real guitar, bass and saxophone in the studio version, as well as the vocals which, as the other guy said, ariana is actually a very good singer compared to others. not to mention synths and drum machines have been around in pop music since the 70s so fuck off.
This video shows how important it is to have a properly functioning ear piece for playback so you can hear yourself. To us all we hear is echo and off beat, but he’s hitting everything perfectly while hearing it real time in his ear. Keep up the work man!
Wow! what an amazing drummer, I never realized how difficult it was to keep time on this type of music. This guy nailed it! (the click track may help though) lol
I thought there was some problem with the drum cam..
Me too!
I was hoping the drummer fell down with the camera and all the drum set... =(
Yeah something like that! That's actually the only reason why I clicked on the video in the first place!
Hahaha I see what you did there 🤣🤣🤣
made my day! :)
I'm a metal drummer, and have been for 17 years, but I'm not gonna lie, this job is probably hella fun.
Phergan Hell yeah this would be fun lol I’m a metal drummer too, but playing stuff like this where you can just get in the groove is super fun
I play a little everything but looove metal for sure. We control the headbang, we have power my friend
I'm a metalhead to death too but I like all types of music, and when I went to see The Weeknd live, I was surprised with the ability and skills his drummer had. He was crushing it all the way. You should check one of his live concerts here, the musicians are pretty good!
I don't actually like music and I like this. We carry the best till the end, my brother, you. We are the ones, my friend
You guys should see the drummer for Miguel, Loniel Robinson. He used to be in letlive. (A post-hardcore band) and that dude goes ham and looks like he’s having so much fun every night
Does his back hurt from carrying this show
dont forget the bass player!
Lol you fucking hater.
@Rex R he’s saying this because him and the bass player are the only one’s actually playing
@@loudsux ah nope. You both haters.
Duuude that delay from the main pa back to you... theres no way to play this without in-ear monitoring...
no way !
Are those not IEMs in his ears?
@@SakiDG yes, they are. i just imagined playing such a show without iem....^^
Well, a delayed floor wedge might work.

Your hi-hat rhytem in the breakdown is so cool.
Nothing like perfectly tuned drums...
I just realized, the song is called problem
Oh Thank you. I had no idea what the problem was supposed to be 😐 until I read your comment!
.
Thanks! Fuck!, I was expecting a cymbal or the snare head to break.
That snare 👌
Tim Pascoe which one haha
XD
The 3 of 'em?
the one in the middle
@@pauldrums2141 it sounds amazing

Fernando Ventura he’s an amazing player but anything sounds amazing through an arena PA

It's good to know that at least on stage there are real instruments
3 min of LOCKED IN DRUMMING SOOOOO HARD TO DO WHEN ALL I BET HE WANNA DO IS JUST JAMMMM LOL
Damn the hi-hat accents sooo goood
Sad that most of those people in the crowd don’t appreciate this band at all... 🤦♂️
@Rival Son I mean they did come to see only Ariana grande perform
Not really i appriciare a lot live bands
shutup lol
i'm a Ariana fan and I love how the songs sounds amazing at live with a band
Why do you say that? Prove?
I wanted to hear the main snare so bad

I would go to an Ariana grande concert for this band
Does the band play to a click track during the performance?
Joshua Dunn yes we have a click in our ears along with the track
the rap is piped in, so the timing has to be impeccable, which from Keith...always is! amazing man
backing tracks are the standard in modern live music, not to mention the tightness a click track provides to the whole show. some like it, some say it's dehumanizing, I personally love it
Hard enough playing to a metronome. I can only imagine
Wow Keith u are an amazing drummer. Thank u sir!
I once watched Shawn Mendes live, and oh my god I was blown away by the band. The rhythm section in pop concerts are hella underrated.

Loved watching this! Needless to say but amazing groove, very enjoyable.
Imagine how good that concert would've been if you could hear the HiHat in the PA
Full vid pls T_T you sound really amazing and that bass too! Omg
What a master, that's some solid drumming right there!
The delay / latency is killing me as im watching this

drummers is what makes the music go round !!
I’m surprised you can even hear these epic drums during the performance
The drums are the only sound on the stage beyond the raw singers voice. It would be hard not to hear them. Everything else is only in the headphones.
ThatGuyTobyPlayz the drums are mic’d up
Trust me. These drums sound absoloutly massive in the 300 thousand dollar PA system out front.
