Thanks for inviting Dr Yasir Qadhi as your guests. I've been following his lectures for many years & he's one of my favorite sheikhs. Also syabas to you guys for asking hard & serious questions to him. Compare to other interviews he's been, I think yours is the most serious one!
14:34 Same here. I left the homeland and found that living and practicing Islam is much more gratifying when you see, daily, the effects of living without it on a society, And I truly understand, living amongst non-muslims, what is meant by Islam is simple and facilitates simplicity. Thanks for inviting Sheikh YQ. Been following his talks, khutbahs and library chats for almost a decade now.
Thank you & congratulations KS for bringing Dr Yasir Qadhi to us. Great intellectual discourse with meaningful insights & wisdom from Dr Yasir. Looking forward for KS to bring in many more great scholars for great conversation with KJ & SH. Way to go Team KS!
Thank you for inviting Sh Yasir Qadhi. Many of his lectures, especially the 100+ seerah videos, are the gold standards. Thank you for the hosts for the excellent interview and discussions.
Started listening to Sheikh YQ during covid times with his seerah series. Even buy his recent books on that as well. Amazing speaker with beautiful narration of the greatest person alive SAW. Thanks KS for bringing him to the studio. Had a thought that KS might be featuring him as he came to Malaysia for his lecturer like SBW and turns out its true!
As usual great lecture by YQ. He might have forgotten that he was in podcast instead of mimbar or stage. Always fired up and inspiring. May Allah bless him with goodness in the world and hereafter.
MashaAllah a true modern day Muslim polymath, Sh. Dr Yasir Qadir.. Mabrok to the speaker and the podcasters on this conversation. One error though Malaysia is not a ‘monoculture society’ vis-a-vis being Muslim society (minute 27). i wish that was corrected, especially for those who are Muslims in Malaysia but are from diverse ethnography-cultural backgrounds
Thoroughly enjoyed this KS interview! Alhamdulillah. It was great to hear from one of my favourite scholars, Dr. Yasir Qadhi. Appreciate the depth and insights shared in the conversation. TQ KS!
Cannot thank enough to KJ & Shahril. Jazakumullahu khairan to three of you. May Allah protect and bless you & your families and give the best in this world and in the akhirah to all of you.
How I wish Malaysia could have more leaders, clerics and community heads to have the wisdom like Dr Shakyh Yasir, then Malaysia would be a much better country.
Year ago, i heard KJ on radiio, and i felt his spunk. Been a fan ever since. Dr YQ's knowledge is a fodder for intellectual minds. And when these enlightened speakers sit together, I can't do anything else but listen attentively. For Mr Shahril, he brings the much needed calm amongst the speakers palpable and contagious energy. All in all, a delightful discussion for our kindred hearts💕
Marvellous conversation. Feels it is too short even though it was 1hour 40 mins long. May the content help guides the listeners through our journey in this life.
Saya sering berkongsikan cerita yg sama setiap kali bab sebegini timbul.
This resonates with me. When I was much younger, I had a friend visiting from a foreign country who was Muslim. I was not a Muslim. He was having a conversation with me in a minibus about Islam. In fact, he was trying to share with me the beauty of Islam. The bus conductor who probably did not understand English seemed disturbed with our conversation. He then stopped the bus and asked us to get off the bus as he assumed that my friend was speaking badly about Islam. My friend was Northern African but looked very European. This and many other similar experiences kept me away from Islam. Alhamdulillah, I reverted to Islam in 2009. I do wonder how many people who are interested in Islam are staying away and fearful of finding the truth because of the actions and behaviors of Muslims.
Oh my god! What an enlightening, incredible and enjoyable discourse. Dr. Yasser Qadhi is up there with Mufti Menk. Great job, KS, for inviting Dr. Yasser Qadhi. Truly a scholar. Kudos ❤❤❤❤❤
KS pls approach sh hussein yee, local scholar. Our local experts understand our culture, the in and outs of the community (uruf) far better than international scholar. I hope KS can be the platform where you also introduce local gems, local brains more. I always stumbled with a comment “oh no agamawan like this in malaysia”. It simply bcs you dont look enough. It is a good task for KS to be more balanced towards knowledge.
This has got to be the one I enjoy the most listening to. Rashid Khalidi in his book The Hundred Years War on Palestine likewise argues that the presence of strong voices and influencers in the US is a crucial element towards a solution the Israel-Palestine conflict whether one likes it or not. Israelis have been doing this for decades.
Great work KS team inviting another great scholar. But I feel like it was a missed opportunity to ask more pressing and hot questions that is relevant to Malaysians and perhaps other Muslims around the world. I would have loved to get Yasir Qadhi or previously Mufti Menk's perspective on how things are done in Malaysia and whether they think it's right or wrong. For example, some topics that could've been discussed deeper: 1) Apostasy For example, a person converted to Islam for love, never practiced the religion. Now they have broke up and want to go back to their old religion but is not allowed in Malaysia. What does Islam say about this. 2) polygamy in Malaysia For example, a married man falls in love another woman, and decides to marry her. Is this allowed? What if the first wife doesn't agree? 3) inheritance and faraid There are many cases in Malaysia where the wife doesn't receive much after the husband passes away because the property goes to the man's father or brother and the wife is left penniless without any money or property. 4) female circumcision Pusat rawatan Islam in Malaysia encourages circumcision on female newborns. Is this Islamic? 5) Ramadhan Authorities monitoring Muslims if they are fasting during Ramadhan and punishing those who don't fast or eat in public, including sometimes woman who are not required to be fasting. These are some questions and topics that I have at the top of my mind. I hope the Kindred Stories crew would be able to cover some of these in future episodes. Just a normal guy trying to seek knowledge.
Iman and amal is the core regardless of time. People are who they are because there is no iman even though you live in Malaysia or any western country. Muslims must go back to Al Quran and Hadith. Daawah is the core of iman, invite man to iman and renew the iman is the fundamental act of a Muslim. Read the sirah. In practice when the iman is renewed through mujahadah or challenges with the sincere intention to please Allah we see iman manifested, for example like those in Ghaza and all around the world there are many others. Insya Allah with amal maaruf and nahi mungkar Islam will revive. Start with baby steps, insya Allah. May Allah SWT accept our amal and Guide us in the straight path. Allahumma Amiin. Wallahuaalam
Muslim ummah has spoken, people are aware what needs to be done, but our Muslim countries leaders stopping us from doing it. These leaders that need to be removed first.
Saya belum mendengar sepenuhnya. I envy you both, but I am very happy with what you have done especially with Kindred Stories. Keep it up and strive for sincerity.
Alhamdulillah, finished. Thank you again and again. Jazakumullahu khairan kathira. May Allah SWT give this ummah and each one of the the true victory as explained by AF Sheikh DrYQ.
KJ, Shahril. I think its about time to invite Sheikh Imran Hosein to your podcast. He talks religion, end of time, dajjal, the new world order and political science. He talked about almost everything. He had such huge experience we must not missed. One of the podcast in Malaysia invited him and talked about diversity. The podcast run by chinese man and I was so mesmerised how can non-muslim invited him and throws so many good questions and Sheikh answers them all in such beautiful points. Please invite him.
I appreciate Ustadh Yasir Qadhi. We can learn a lot from him, except for politics view. His ignorance and bias towards fiqh siyasah (politics in Islam) is absurd. Many scholars have questioned and corrected his views.
Aq faham KJ and Shahril nak bawak, isu Salafi vs Aswaja. Saya sangat setuju, perlu open minded as long as within Ahlus Sunnah, kita xboleh ketepikan golongan Salafiah. Golongan intelektual banyak drp Salafiah.
Oh God please no. Under no circumstances should he be allowed to give talks in Malaysia. His lectures are full of eschatological conjectures and questionable theories. I know personally one of my friends was "ruined" mentally due to his obsession with Imran Hossein somewhat bizarre ideas and opinions. We want an honest, well read, rational, pragmatic and pious ulama who can be relied upon. Why not invite Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, Sheikh Omar Suleiman, Sheikh Asrar Rashid, Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad and others who are much better candidates.
If youtube allows multiple likes, i would’ve click the thumbs up a thousand times!! Well done KS. Oh please oh please invite Sadia Khan @sadiapsychology
