Overview: VT0007 Unplanned Deforestation Allocation UDef A, v1 0

This webinar provides an overview and describe the logic behind Verra’s most recent tool, VT0007 Unplanned Deforestation Allocation (UDef-A), v1.0. VT0007 details a procedure for developing deforestation risk maps for jurisdictions where REDD projects registered in Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program are located, as well as how they are used to allocate jurisdictional activity data.
This new tool is a key component to implementing the new approach to setting project baselines following Verra’s innovative new REDD methodology, VM0048 Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, and the new module for Avoided Unplanned Deforestation (AUD) activities (VMD0055 Estimation of Emission Reductions from Avoiding Unplanned Deforestation) in the VCS Program.
This new tool was developed by researchers from Clark Labs, Clark University, and TerraCarbon over the course of about 15 months and has been subject to extensive testing.
