Love these isolated tracks. This way my neighbours will think I'm a genius guitarist 😁
😅
Hilarious! 🤣
You are a Genius guitarist.
Greeeeat! Good Idea, man! Lol
I love your comment.
As a former guitar player this would have been really helpful about 40 years ago.
I know, right?
Former? Why did you quit?
@@diddyfaplord I’m with you. Why’d you quit p?
There's no such thing as a former guitar player. Just guitar players who are currently taking a break.
there are so many resources available now that guitar players never train their ears. They can get the tab on songsterr and a tutorial and isolated guitar track on youtube. They never have to sit their with their finger on a record rewinding a part a million times to figure it out.
Rhythm and lead guitar in one take.....
Eddie was a beast 💪💪🎸
R.I.P.
Eddie was one of a kind. Guys like him only come around once in a lifetime.
SO much personality in everything he did. Fantastic inspiration
This obviously shows what a genius musician Eddie was but it also makes you realize how those four guys all offered the necessary pieces to create some of the best rock songs ever. Think about what this riff turned into after they all contributed and intertwined their parts.
Why hasn’t this video gotten like 4 billions views lol?!?! So useful, thank you
😂Only uploaded, but I really appreciate the positive feedback! P.S. 'Panama' coming soon.
My thoughts exactly, that made my day!
Because it’s been up here for years. People cracked it from Guitar Hero.
I don't think I'll ever get over how little gain many of the giants of guitar used; so much tone from turning gain down and master up and just letting those speakers work. So much comes just from their hands. Also, how on earth does this channel only have 13k subs? These uploads are absolutely amazing and priceless. Thank you so much for what you're doing!
You're totally right but the real trick is in their knowledge of music theory.
With that strong foundation of music theory, they're never at a loss of what to play or how to play it which is why a lot of guys will play things different every time they play it because they weren't so much "composing a song" as they were just playing and having fun.
Think of it like cooking food; you know what temperature this-and-that cooks best at but no two pieces of bacon ever look exactly the same but they always taste so good! :D
@@GenericSpace most of them did not know theory
He used alot of volume but he used a variac to get that mellow tone while having it cranked.
@@GenericSpace however EVH knew more than he lead on
@@jamessteele3093 You watch too much TV.
Mary Poppins isn't real and fairytales are just stories.
There's no such thing as someone just sitting down with a guitar and playing like that. It takes practice and invested effort, aka, learning "how to play" which can be better described to other musicians as a strong education in music theory.
Music Theory is about a whole lot more than reading some ridiculous "guitar tab" that some moron posted online. It's about more than reading sheet music.
Most children in school can read advanced poetry but do they understand it? Not likely.
Learning music theory teaches you how to assemble all of those notes in such a way as to "sound good" and not just create a jumble of crap.
Your statement of, "EVH knew more than he lead on" does little more than confirm exactly what I've said; he had a very strong and very educated foundation of music theory that he could reach into whenever he wanted. This is what separates all the great musicians from the one-hit-wonders that you never hear about beyond their one video you saw 10 years ago on TV and then never hear about ever again.
Amazing guitarist. I recall in an interview Eddie describing his solo style as 'falling down the stairs and landing on your feet'. That about sums it up!
Eddie and Dave are the last of the American Rock Stars. Legends.
Ridiculously Amazing.
I feel my hand cramping just from listening.
That’s a line they could put in a video along with not feeling tardy😂
Nah its actually really simple and fun
It shouldn't be. Guitar playing doesn't require high forces. Quite the opposite.
That whole album was their over all greatest! "I dropped my pencil!"
Ahahaha, what a great story, Mark. You can say that again. I'm so glad I have you as my best friend and I love Lisa so much.
I don't feel tardy
It was great but Fair Warning was my favorite
Class DISMISSED!
Oh
My
Gaaaawd!
davidclar867 Gimme sumthin to write on.!!
Yeah . Going from rhythm to lead seamlessly . Almost unheard of these days . So much fun to listen to
I thought I had this song on lock, note for note. After hearing this I am convinced that no one has "covered' this song correctly, Including myself. Thank you for uploading.
I've covered it 100% accurate. It takes time. Did so when I was 16 years old.
Capture the essence. Players like Eddie rarely played the same way twice anyway.
@@inspiringminds7284 that’s awesome. What age did you start?
I think EVH and Jimi were the two greatest who will ever play a guitar.
yes the two most innovative guitarist ever!
When u hear thunder in the sky it’s Jimi & Eddie having a guitar duel ! 😮
The two most influential without a doubt.
Lots of huge names out there, but it’s hard to argue with this take.
Pretty much.
WOW! Hearing the tiny little noises as the verse gets ready to heat up. It's so subtle and imperfect, but precise! I'm kinda losing my mind over this. Thanks for sharing!!!
His tremolo picking... Man oh man
Hearing the little clicks in between the pre-verse & verse is just *chef’s kiss
I can hear things I've never heard before and I had learned this song note for note, but i was missing a few of them!
Same here! That's why I created the channel. Appreciate your comment!
Nice! Thank you for this share. Keep them coming!
The fluidity of Ed’s playing is always what blew me away the most.
Bloody excellent!
This is incredible!
One of my favorite rock songs ever. The groove and energy is insane, and the solo is one of the best Eddie ever did. Thanks for sharing!
Mine too!
Van Halen The most ultimate Rock Band of all time R.I.P EVH
Astonishing 🤘
Truly a master! Never stopped playing and early as ALL the greats tend to be. I've heard this song hundreds of times and quite honestly heard a lick or two, in this isolated track, that I hadn't noticed. Thanks for the post IT!
Soooooo cool hearing this!
Beautifully, artfully imperfect. Proper rock n roll. ❤️
Eddie’s tone was like a torchin this one. Puck !! He was so good.
He threw away the "rule-book" and we're all glad he did. What an innovator.
Eddie Van Halen didn't pass away. He just moved to Venus where it always rains metal 🤘🤘.
But seriously, thank you so much, Sir Edward Van Halen, for the music you gave us and for being the legend that you are. There WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER! I love you, Sir. God bless.
Damn what a tone 🤤
I didnt hear a single overdub..amazing
Love how sounds like la grange
Yeah, VH got a lotta great tunes out of that fast blues shuffle approach -- "I'm the One," "Outta Love Again," "Take Your Whiskey Home," "Sinner's Swing," "The Full Bug" -- and then they perfected it with "Hot for Teacher." I've gotta think Ed picked up a few ideas from the Reverend Willie G and old ZZ Top tunes.
You can draw a direct line from delta blues to shred guitar via John Lee hooker to zz top to this to Satch boogie
Thank you for posting this.
You're welcome!
You can hear the pick attack… damn.
But not a bear attack because they have soft pads on their feet and are very sneaky
@@michael1 those sneaky bastards
Awesome. This is what I refer to as Eddie's "clean" stage. Try to imagine this or Panama with the sound of the first two albums or Knowledge or Balance..
Yup. He was dialed in 110% at this point fo sho.
How much I would valued these tracks when I was a kid, sitting with my records trying to pick these songs out by ear. Better late than never, I guess. Thx!
Can you imagine...The guitar player walks into rehearsal with this and says to the singer, OK write lyrics and a vocal melody over it, and make sure it's top 40 gold! THAT'S why Roth was the best.
If this had been in my youth, i don‘t know what i have been today. In the past i had made an endless track of this on cassette and heared it the whole day or 24/7. Eargasm!
WOW your so right 👍
Perfect
love the small imperfections.
All these years and decades of Eddie’s tone(s) and you can really tell in this type of isolated tracks, his tone was very simple. But when it got mixed in with the rest of the song, oh boy. The best to have EVER done it and there’ll never be anything like Eddie ever again.
And that's exactly how it should be.
What an awesome channel!!!!!!!!!!!?
You should do all the songs from Fair warning. The guitars there are so groovy and nuts
1:30 you can hear him switch to the front pick up.
Sounds like this was one take 😮
Always an hero!
Awesome, that’s the only word I have!
✌️😎🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Wonderful imperfection. Pure feel. Balls don't need no click track.
spoken like someone who doesn't understand click tracks.
I dunno about the click track thing, but the imperfection side of things is important. When I get discouraged, I listen to how 'flawed' the greats really were. That's the beauty of it.
This helped crystalize for me that his attack is a huge part of his sound. Listen to VH1l, especially "You really got me" and it just jumps out at you.
I think EVH would have liked Al DiTo. So sad that I did not meet him. He came to my town quite a few times. God bless EVH.
One of the things I really like about these VH isolated tracks is HOW LOUD those amps are, like... REALLY loud lol
MAN!!! Edward is feeding that Flying V the onions!!! 🙂
GOAT
Often imitated, never equaled.
That’s a BMF on the guitar. One track.
"Eddie, you can't play lead AND rhythm at the same time." Eddie: "Hold my beer." THAT is what made EVH the TRUE guitar god.
lead and rhythm? he's not of course. he's playnn mostly rhythm parts in this song. lead parts are separated from others
@@massimofamularo1976 bhuuuuulshit.
Same their music was so crap.
@@sillysausage4549 So you get some friends if you have any play a song and post it here on yt.
First I wore out the VH records next all the cassette tapes. Then I bought the CD's. Just to listen to the Mighty VH and the GOAT.
Jimmy Hendricks would have been blown away by Eddie .. no doubt in my mind
Long Live Edward Van Halen
Eddie was so busy the rest of the band just filled in. 😂😂
The gain is not to much. Just that push a bit. Amazing fingers
Lisenting to this track makes me stop playing... How great he was!!!..
And maybe it was done in one take! I'll chop my fingers off.
Gênio
The band Van Halen got in the way of Eddie's genius. This isolated track is a number 1 single imho
Tone like a buzzsaw. Miss this from so much modern electric guitar over compressed, tuned down to A or obsessed with hybrid picking or tapping with 8 fingers or whatever.
Can you do Light Up the Sky?
Chuck Berry intro right into a ZZ Top boogie.
I just realized he didn't use the Frankie for this. Jesus H Christ
Está é a prova que não é só Eruption.
I get it. It's funny because this is exactly the same as the album track. At least to my ears.
😌
I didn’t hear any punch ins. That was all one take, wasn’t it??
Sounds like the chorus riff starts on the & of 1 😮
I like this better than the whole song.
12k views and under 1k likes. What?
I think original '58 Flying V sounds.
Dude was wired different...
Some of that is doubled but it's so tight it's almost impossible to hear.
bloke plays quite like I do - who is he?
HAHA.
Eddy Vander-something. From what I saw in the video for this song, he's not much a dancer so that's why his potential is pretty limited.
and let everyone who uses way too much gain realize the truth....
Fair warning please.
Yes please!
This
Awesome with a capital AWE!!
R I P 🍀,. brother
2:54 is classic EVH ... crazy tasty phrasing
