Tom depending entirely on web splinging, and not building, really hurt him at this point, when trying to get Geoff to follow him.
Yeah, though to be fair the following mechanic is kind of novel; up until now you've mostly *have* had to just drag everything and everyone around with you so it's understandable why that was his first instinct.
Similarly to that Tom could have finished the blue gem portions simply by floating and jumping, rather than anchoring, like he did for the first screen, but he gave up on that after dying the first time. Would have saved him a lot of time and effort but that is just something for which there is no indication that its possible.
To be fair, it's not immediately obvious that dancing causes him to follow you. It's not like that works in real life.
Unless you're on TikTok.

Still, you would think Geoff would webs himself up on certain points. Would'nt you?
Tom is definitely a believer in the 'bigger hammer' school of problem solving
as a person who played this game and 100%ed before watching Tom's videos on it, the fact he follows you only when you're dancing was pretty easy to find out, and he would immediately walk across webs that were around him, also he's a spider, why wouldn't he be able to walk across webs, that's what the ledges taught me
also he walked across webs at 11:45
And that concludes the story of how Tom spider kidnapped like 30 baby spiders!
This game was an absolute joy to watch! I would love another episode to see Tom return that spider's babies to her and to collect more of the hidden items and stuff. LOVED IT!

Honestly, having played this myself after Toms first video, I'm calling this my game of the year. It only narrowly beats power wash sim (which is amazing) but it's done it! It's so rare for a game these days to have so much charm, personality and unique identity AND feel so polished and smooth as this. Like the game just feels fun, not like a team of psychologists researched the perfect concept of fun to addict players to grinding or micropayments, not wacky and edgy, just joyful and upbeat. Like it's silly at times, it knows it's silly and it feels like the team behind it were out there enjoying themselves. I love it!
Having played the game to near 100%, sans two Steam achievements, the *only* gripe I've got with the game is the dung beetles and bees don't have as much personality as the ants. That's it. That's the only flaw. It's such an adorable and fun experience, with oodles of charm. I cannot stop gushing over it!
This game playthrough has been an absolute beaming Angory beacon of joy.

I love that in episode 1, there was a button to make a web that Tom literally never used once.

This game is amazing. Cute style, slick animation, flesh out mechanics, and who would've expected a boss fight with a team of cute insects would feel that of an epic ending!?
Ngl, i cried when everyone got together to help Buddy out. Never thought i'd cry for a mecha ant.
Tom just kidnapping peoples' kids and taking the on perilous quests. No biggie.
I like how the game never mentions that this *BLUE BIRD* that lives on a *FLOATING ISLAND* that is *SURROUNDED BY THUNDER* is probably supposed to be a mythical thunderbird.
This game was great, I'm really glad I took the time to play it myself watching the playthrough and discover all the cute things myself. But yeah, would love to see you 100% this game, there's still loads of things to find; all the collectibles, those other spiders, and the secret hat machine!

Gonna be sad to see this series go. This game was such a delight! I'd image a hunting secret's video would mostly consist of collectibles and the four secret spiders, which I wouldn't mind.
One tip though, the last two flies gave me hell trying to discover them. Basically on the first lever puzzle in the Dung Beetle zone, there's a hole in the top right of the cave. If you slingshot yourself up there just right you can enter a new secret area with two flies. Like all areas/screens with collectables, this doesn't show up on the map 'till you enter it. Compared to all other secret zones it was probably the hardest to find.
I really hope he goes down that mudslide he missed last episode. It's such a fun ride!
Though it is extremely annoying if you don't mean to go down it and just accidentally slide down it TWICE when you're trying to remove the stick from the gear.
Great game and great gameplay! After seeing it recently I really recommend it takes two for another series, maybe with Lydia. The game turned out to be crazy well made with lots of wacky levels.

I wonder if he would feel like it's worth going back and fulfilling some of the collections and secrets for one more video, would be fun to see!

Meanwhile I'm just thinking of the Mortal Kombat fatality where the Ant Mech just slices its head off, the Sipders pull its heart out with webs and the other insects just swarm it eating parts of laying eggs in it.
well as far as i know the secrets are mostly hats you can wear, on a side note, i wish i would have seen at least one single time where tom catches a fly with a real net xD
like build one and wait that they fly in one, even like a single string is already enough rofl
What a wonderful game. It really felt like it evokes the innocent, childlike joy of playing Super Mario World as a youngster. Like you could really feel the love put into making this game.
Gosh, seeing ol' Tommy boy not constructing any webbings at all for ol' Jeff for the first half the video hurt.

I've really enjoyed the playthrough of this game, I know the series dont get as many views but I enjoy seeing the games through with tom instead of one offs

even if you don't post it, you should definitely go through and try to collect all the stickers, just so you can play around with them (some of the spider stickers let you use different web colors!!! No benefits, just fun)

It's so frustrating watching Tom completely forget just how good lasers are at moving physics objects and instead opt to use 1000 webs to move something one foot.
