I have a 240l brackish tank at the moment with 2 rope fish and red clawed crab and i really want to highten the water level and put some more tankmates in there but I'm not sure what would be compatible ? Any advice greatly apriciated!
Great video! I would just add to be careful, both the hydrometer and the refractometer have to be calibrated regularly. They can be way off. I used to used to use a hydrometer to measure the specific gravity in my reef tank. At some point I ran into difficulty with a coral that had been easy to keep. When I checked my specific gravity with a calibrated refractometer, I found that I was running a specific gravity of 1.030! I highly recommend purchasing a refractometer and calibration solution. They are super easy to calibrate. Additionally, cheap refractometers are more difficult to use. You get what you pay for. Cheers, Chris
Zenzo I still have my African mudskippers that I purchased after you showed yours for the first time. Very easy to keep. You probably won’t remember but I am the one that ordered Indian mudskippers and was sent 3 African and 1 Indian mudskippers. I kept thinking they were Indian until you told me different. 😊
Hey the music was good with your video.. when people play videos fast that music seems to fit perfectly! Thanks for the salt water info .. didn’t really I how easy it would be thanks
Thank you so much I talked to you in the comments a while ago that I was intimidated by brackish but with this video made it a million times more easy. Thank you again brother.
Love 💘 mudskippers...I'll just tune into your channel which I love to do....I thank you for showing how to do brackish water.....but I think I will stick with Freshwater.
If i did a brackish tank, i would do an indian mangrove biotope mangrove, (i would make my own diy mangrove branches) but there would be indian glass fish and indian mudskippers
Do you have any recommendations for food that will put weight on Indian mudskippers? Some of mine came in very small and thin. I’ve been giving them various Xtreme flakes and live, flightless fruit flies. I tried them on frozen bloodworms but they wouldn’t eat those. I’d try live ones but they aren’t available in my area and I’ve never had any survive that were shipped to me-the joys of year-round summer in Georgia. Thanks!
So does the choice between the reef setup versus a mud flat low tide tank matter. I have 5 African mudskippers just looking for ideas on redoing the tank.
For awhile. You may want to add some more salinity once in awhile. Brackish water is never at a consistent salinity level. It goes from full fresh to very salty at times. My suggestion would to be around 1.005-1.008.
looking into getting a mudskipper ( not sure about African or Indian) but I have seen that they yell and jump from time to time in wild , so taking that how big of a tank would one need to house 1 or 2 of them?
With a small puffer like a figure 8, yes. Nothing that gets bigger than maybe three inches though. the plants in the brackish tanks are plastic except for the moss n the waterfall and the mangroves growing out of the Indian tank.
Hey I watched your video of you setting up this tank a while ago and I'm close to setting up a similar concept, and was wondering if you think a giant sand island mass like you have, could be supported in the middle of the tank instead of the side? I have an idea in my head where I help support it on both sides like you did on the one side, but I also want to run 2 thick pieces of pvc piping through it as a highway for fish to go to the other side. My only concern is the island eroding because I would probably run some sort of small in tank filter on each side or a waterfall effect
The sand will most likely erode unless you have some type of structure to support it. Expanding foam is fish-safe when fully cured. Good luck with the build, and come back and let me know when it’s done if you end up posting a video or photos of it. If you tag me on Instagram, I’m @tazawa_tanks
@@TazawaTanks hmm maybe foam, I'm thinking medium sized rocks and pieces of driftwood right now but depending on how that's holding I may have to work with the foam Right now I have a 20gal long fiddler and red claw crab tank and the land is just big pieces of lava rocks with caves under them for the crabs to hide. I'll def tag ya on insta.
Sure. Get yourself a hydrometer or refractometer to measure salinity/specific gravity. Get a quality reef salt and slowly increase salinity over a period of a couple of weeks. Once you get to around 1.005 - 1.008 you should be great.
Could you not just premix a larger volume water to that 1.006-1.008 reading instead of making 1.035 SW and mixing it with freshwater as you do a water change? That way you're not having to take multiple samples during the mixing phase
You could, but depending on the size of the tank, it would be more work pouring the pre-mixed water in. I tried it in the beginning and it was too much work. This way is much more simple.
This is actually a really bad tank for mudskippers and doesnt cater to their behavior or natural habitat at all. Mudskippers are called mudskippers for a reason they create complex burrow systems in the mud every tide. The water has no need for being deeper than the mudskipper is long. You wasted all this money on a poorly thought out set up and you didnt even make a tide system. This tank is honestly an embarrassment from one hobbiest to another.

wish u could ship worldwide for that shirt hahaha just kiddin. from philippines btw!
I dont know if this would work but you should try a archer fish and mudskiper tank it would be verey cool

Love when you show these little babies. Once I move I want to get some mudskippers as well. Thank you for taking the time to share them with us. :)

My mudskippers are actually one of my easiest/lowest maintenance tanks
What's the salinity level?
And how often do u do water changes?
Is there any type that's frwhs water ?

I think Mono's are a pretty fish, if I had a brackish tank, they would be my first fish.
I'm starting with a Knight Goby
Monos get really big after a while, most people only keep the juveniles.

Mudskippers are in my top three/ fantasy /I want this before I die fish!

Cool tank set up!
Good stuff just started a 10 g brackish. The mudskippers are like gobbies that can come out of water
Great job with this video buddy! Thanks for sharing 👍.

would i need to cycle the tank if my mudslidders came with the water that they were in perviously?
My dream tank 😍.
Hi
I'm looking for plants to go into a 55g tank with a Knight Goby and some Mollies.
I'm shooting for around 1.006 SG.
Will any plants grow in this?
So does the choice between the reef setup versus a mud flat low tide tank matter. I have 5 African mudskippers just looking for ideas on redoing the tank.
If you have the ability to create either, I would suggest the mud flat/low tide setup.
Can you recommend an online spot where brackish fish are sold that are already in brackish water?
Would 1.003 be acceptable for mudskipper.

I know this is off topic , but i have a 40 gallon breeder , want mbuna , but not sure what type to get or how many😔
Psedotropeus saulosi- they are a dwarf mbuna. Maybe 6-10.
Il check em out ! thanks for the reply !
Oh , and what other options would you recommend ?
Interesting how they can solidify parts of evolution theory fish that walk on land
have two puffer .. one morey eel .. one mudskipper one pleco ..in a 4x2aquarium
what can i add to the tank??
Dope aquarium 🔥
I have had brackish in the past but got out of it for lack of plant. I saw some plants in the tank. What where they?
Synthetic! Hahaha! Actually, in the Indian mudskipper tank I have moss growing on top of the waterfall, and mangroves growing in the back.
Great video as always,Wanted mudskippers for years can never find them for sale in the UK.
How many african mudskippers can i have in a 75?
looking into getting a mudskipper ( not sure about African or Indian) but I have seen that they yell and jump from time to time in wild , so taking that how big of a tank would one need to house 1 or 2 of them?
With Indians, a 20 long would be a good start. For Africans. A 20 long for maybe one. Larger if more. Maybe a 40 breeder.
Where can i get mudskipper at?
where can you buy mudskippers
do you think the Indian mudskippers will survive with a puffer? also whats the name of the plants you used?
With a small puffer like a figure 8, yes. Nothing that gets bigger than maybe three inches though. the plants in the brackish tanks are plastic except for the moss n the waterfall and the mangroves growing out of the Indian tank.

I just bought a green spotted puffer and I want to start transitioning the puffer into brackish water any tips on how to start the process?
Sure. Get yourself a hydrometer or refractometer to measure salinity/specific gravity. Get a quality reef salt and slowly increase salinity over a period of a couple of weeks. Once you get to around 1.005 - 1.008 you should be great.

Mitch's Fishes yes. I have a canister filter on my Indian mudskipper tank (the waterfall).
Thanks for the help.

Are both mudskipper tanks brackish water?
Yep! Both brackish. I have a whole brackish water playlist.
what salt should i use ?
Any reef or marine salt that is made for saltwater tanks will work. I use salt from Fritz.
They beat

Enjoy your videos. Would like them better if you showed more of your tanks while giving information rather than just focusing on yourself. Fred O
