I've always pictured Object29 as this gigantic monstrous vehicle considering what it was designed for. Here it looked...just a taller tank compared to its contemporaries.
Well it only weighs 60 tons, it’s a superheavy, yes, just not Maus levels of Superheavy, most of its weight is in its extremely thick and well angled armor plating.
@CrimsonLancaster Lol what, tanks on average were definitely heaver back then. You're tripping, it's not a super heavy. The only ones going light at the time were the Germans who went dumbass mode and just gave up on trying to stop tank rounds and employeed the "nO aRmOr iS bEst arMoR" braindead take to little success ofc because it's fucking tank ofc you should give it proper armor. Crazy how long it took people to work out that more heavily armouring the front and limiting the side and back armor to auto cannon protection is a way better idea than using 80% of the front armor on the side and back which will end up letting through all the rounds the front armor would've protected while retaining the majority of the weight disadvantage. Bit of a rant but I'm saying with how weirdly tanks were being made until the 70's-80's you may be right but as far as I'm aware, you aren't
I always thought each track would have a form of differential steering such that the inner tracks would turn slower than the outer tracks during steering. It looks like each pair of sprockets is driven together as one. No wonder this tank was a pain to manoeuvre
Something as simple as that put on a tank will add the cost of production to an already immense expansive tank lol, i think there's the factor of complexity to it since it barely has any room between those tracks
yeh as soon as they drove it once they decided 2 objects was enough. it looks like the traction gear is going through a lot of pain aswell, making breakage much faster

This would make for a challenging model build. As of the moment, all of the available kits of this tank, in both 1/35 and 1/72, have modeled the hull (upper and lower) as one continuous piece. As can be seen in the video, the actual tank used metal skirts attached to the hull to achieve its distinctive UFO shape. What makes this video so invaluable to the modeler is that it shows all of the previously hidden detail of the hull, skirt mounts, braces and frames. What I find particularly interesting is the contrast between the crisp flowing lines of the skirt panels compared to the wavy, almost crude appearance of the cast hull. Making this thing as shown would require major surgery to any of the existing kits followed by a lot of finnicky scratch building. It would look pretty awesome if it could be pulled off, though.

@@Klovaneer Doesn't really go against my point. My S&W also uses Russian titanium. Like I said, they got great resources. If Russia hadn't fallen to Soviet Communism, they would've been a true super-power, and not just one on paper with a strong military.
They got real potential now with Putin, but it's hard to know whose side he is really on, other than his own. A century of communism, tho, might be too much to expect a recovery from.

This isnt war thunder. Looks ungainly and not at all nimble. With zero combat record to fall back on how can you say its the best of anything? Someone thought the Maus would be the ultimate MBT too. oops.
@@T0tenkampf Obviously someone believes that the mouse is the best battle tank, but some also believe the earth is flat. In this condition, as we see the tank there, no tank would be agile, not even the Bundeswehr Weasel.
Why it's the best main battle tank design is quite simple. This armor is form-optimized against missiles and is designed to withstand a hit from a nuke. There was a similar concept with the Americans, but that was really negligible in comparison. Similarly, the mouse's weight was a little too high for bridges, but otherwise in a modernized version it could certainly be handled. So I'm sticking with it!
The BEST main battle tank design!

Tank on tank russian tanks are suitable, not amazing but also not the worst around either .
But when the enemy is a drone above you . Or a javelin coming from above , there really arned many tanks that would survive
Its easy to sit and think that this is ukraine and russia at war, but in reality the only reason Ukraine can even fight back is mainly down to western supplied weapons.....
Russia is merely a speed bumb on the road to war with china anyway . My convern isnt the russia - Ukraine war. But the inevitable war with china
you think? Why is it that in every actual combat arena where Russian made designs have faced tanks like the Abrams, Merkava, etc that they have lost? They were way ahead of the bar in the 1940s when they were smart enough to accept the Christie design along with the foresight to use diesels in their theater but since then they have been proven to be paper tigers. I have actually inspected T72 and T64 up close and the quality was pretty meh.
@@T0tenkampf but the price tag was relatively more cheaper than most western tank. It’s definitely not as good most nato tanks tho, but it sure is a lot easier to mass produced and maintained than western tanks that’s also why that most countries and organizations prefer to use the soviet tanks
