Just like he describes in this video, some people have either defaulted into the career as a teacher and produce lackluster "content" or they are there because they love it and flourish in response to that happiness (and thus the student engages). Do not blame the teacher (or yourself) but just embrace the twinkling of interest of a topic when it crosses your mind and run with it. That's what I did with history. (Bee tea dubs, I work in construction for money and learn about history on my own time because it rocks). c'est la vie. Long days and pleasant nights.
