So glad to see you back like it actually makes me happy since you were my favorite guitar youtuber back when I found your burny video I remember that and then just had to keep watching your videos were so chill and I loved them. Happy to see you posting again Alex
I enjoyed the Lollars more. Hotter and more break up. I’ve been obsessed with JMs lately. Can’t get enough. Great timing! The new setup sounds amazing by the way.
I’ve almost pulled the trigger on a Jazzmaster or a Jaguar so many times, but always end up switching to something else last minute. The TVL was the one I was most interested in because the Oxblood finish looks awesome. Glad to see another video from you!
I will at some point! Ive started to appreciate PV65s a lot more than I initially did. Kinda want to keep them in haha but I bet the Novaks sound great
For what it's worth, I have a lollar p90 in the bridge and super vintage sounding handwound in the neck of my Warmoth build JM and I think I'm going back to a JM bridge. The volume is ok, but to my ear, they don't pair well. Both great sounds but like two different guitars in a bad way, in sound and feel. I've swapped the bridge pup multiple times, run different pot values and still end up wanting to go back to the JM pup.
I have the cme jazzmaster in pacific peach and i love the pure 65's!....and without a doubt the 500k pots definitely do help for sure......the only thing I changed was the pickguard to tortoiseshell. Id pick those over the lollar in a heartbeat! Just roll the tone and volume to your liking 👍🏼
Oh dude you'll love those novaks for sure! Really a toss up for me both are very distinctive and sound very much articulate. Definitely do a demo on those! Thank you
Depends. The PV65 are really bright, not a lot of mids. I personally love it. Traditional. Cunife sounds stratty to me. Very different. Wide range cunife are beautiful. Not really a jazzmaster sound though.
I have a CME Player Series Jazzmaster and it has PV65s in it. To my surprise the pots are 500k instead of 1meg. I prefer it to most other Jm's I've tried for some reason.
@alexradsby For real? I played a tvl in the shop and they seemed crazy different. It might be the mastery bridge I have installed or the lack of rhythm circuit on mine...eh I can't say that it made much of a difference. I might have lucked out in the production quality lottery haha
@sixstringsamurai55 Haha definitely something different for sure. Though 1 meg pots vs 500k is like rolling down from 10 to 7-8 on the tone. Its not super different. But I still prefer 500k. Its in my Blue MJT Jazzmaster as well 🙂
The middle position on a JM is such a good sound 🤤

Thank you so much, that means so much to me, you don't even know 🙂🙏

Thank you so much! Yeees get one 😇 they are soo good

I really love the TVL. It's a great guitar! Even better if you find one used 🙂
just what i was looking for thank you, i love your tattoos.
I'm happy to help! Thank you 🙏
I was really surprised because I love p90s, but the Jazzmaster pickups are more my flavor here! 👍🏾
Because p90s are not Jazzmaster pickups Smfh
man, love your videos.
Saludos desde chile
Thank you! That means so much to me! 🙂
I was really surprised because I love P90s, but I preferred the PV65s. When are you going to do the Novak comparison?
I will at some point! Ive started to appreciate PV65s a lot more than I initially did. Kinda want to keep them in haha but I bet the Novaks sound great
Oh man, I honestly really like both and could see good use cases on my end for both. I guess this is why I have too many guitars. Lol.
I have that problem too haha i like the pure Vintage set as well 😅
Would you consider a p90 in one position and the vintage in the other? Best of both worlds or bad idea?
Sounds like a great idea to me! As long as the volume difference isn’t too much 🙂

I've started to like the more and more. But i have gotten some curtis novak jm fat and v that I need to try out as soon as possible 🙂

@aarondenbow6086 I will as soon as I get them installed 🙂
So nice. I need to swap my neck PU in a fender pawnshop special. Idk what I should go for, wide range cunife, regular cunife or just v65
Depends. The PV65 are really bright, not a lot of mids. I personally love it. Traditional.
Cunife sounds stratty to me. Very different.
Wide range cunife are beautiful. Not really a jazzmaster sound though.
I te-listened to the v65 and it sounds amazing
What wind were the lollar p90s? There are a few options on the lollar website
I got the default ones. 🙂
What Pots do you have in each guitar? Are they 1 meg, 500k, or 250k?
500k in both
Are these quiet or would noiseless be a better option?
Personally I don’t like noiseless pickups. They are not quiet. All depends on good shielding and a little bit of noise gate if needed.
If you play any clean jams, go JM pickups. But if you’re all about the rock, go p90s. That’s my take at least.
I didn’t like the nasally sound of the lollars. The PV sounded better balanced to me.
I like p90s but they sound muddy in a jazzmaster
I realized afterwards that i dialed the amp and drives to accommodate my single coil guitars. Definitely a factor in this too.
Prefer the 65's, more tonal range. Lollars sound muddy in comparison.
Kinda agree with you for this one for sure. 🙂
Lollars!!!!!
I like them too 😝
I can’t stand the pickups in my Troy van Jazzmaster. I just got it and I already want to sell it.
Change the pickups! Nothing wrong with the guitar right? If it's sound only then it's fixable 🙂

@sixstringsamurai55 The TVL also has 500k pots. I like it better too for sure
