Hey Mike, Did you turned all the bulbs on? I just got the same expo unit from ranar and still trying to figure out what's my exposure time between halftone and block designs.

Hey! What emulsion are you using. I would suggest getting an exposure calculator to help figure out your exposure times. My bulbs are a little older, but with photopolymer, when my unit was new, 45 seconds worked well for 230 mesh, and 1:30 for 110 mesh. For a dual cure, I add a couple minutes. An exposure calculator will be the best way to go to dial in your exposure time. It cost about $20. You'll wash the screen out and want to achieve 7 on the calculator. Just be sure your films are dense. Can hardly see light through them. You can't really over expose them, but can under expose and you'll have issues with unexposed emulsion running down into your image area. Which is why I expose on the over exposing side, rather than under. There's nothing more frustration than exposing a screen, getting ready to print, and seeing part of your image blocked out from run off of underexposed emulsion. I hope this makes some sense.
I'm using a photopolymer. My unit is brand new. I did 130 but it has run off from underexposed emulsion. Thanks anyway for the tip.

What is up Mike - what brand is your inkjet film? I’ve noticed that both sides of your film is dark black, but the film I’m using prints dark black on one side, and charcoal on the other - is that my l’m having problems with exposing my screens?
I like to use GoldUpUSA's film. Cheap, and works like a champ. amzn.to/2A1cdxD Perhaps you're not putting down enough ink? When you look at your film through the light, can you see through it?
Hey I’m using a ryonet small uv 20 watt exposure unit. And ulano blue photo polymer emulsion. Can you recommend me a good exposure time for halftimes on a 230 mesh ? I’m having problems with how long I should be exposing
I would step up the times, record them and se what works. Print the same image on a piece of film 4 times. Use posterboard or something that will block the light. Move the board so the first image is exposed, burn the image for that set time, and then move the board to expose the send image. Burn for the same amount of time. Perhaps working at 30 second steps. If that makes sense.
Which gun you use for washing...is it car wasing gun or any other????

Can you tell me what kind of light is behind your washout booth ? Classic light or yellow safe light ? Multiples tubes or juste one tube ?
Because I've made my own washout booth with a white plexiglass background and I would add some light behind it because it's so much easyer when it's time to washout the emulsion on the screen ! Thanks
They are regular fluorescent lights with yellow filters. Just be sure to get the correct size, but you can cut down the length. amzn.to/2scqjaS

I didn't know that a filter was enough to protect emulsion from the light. It's good to know!
It will help! Although, fluorescent lights themselves really don't expose screens fast. You have time without it causing issues. If you let it out overnight under a fluorescent light, then it would expose it.
Yo print onto the smooth or scratchy side of the film? And the dark side butts up against the screen correct?
Sticky / scratchy side and that side butts up against the screen. You got it!
Hi l use diazo emulsion too But When I try to wash out My whole emulsion washing out .... When I do it with long expose time I get a bit of good results
Sounds like you're underexposing. Try letting it go even longer.
What size screen is that and how many layers of emolsions is on there
It's a 20 x 24 and 1 and 1. 1 coat each side starting with the t-shirt side.

Hello, can the sun effect the exposure if we have to wash the screen outdoors? I'm new to this and plan to put the washout booth outside. Will it be okay if there's shade?
It'll be absolutely fine. It's not as sensitive as you think, like photography film. BUT, will slowly expose in the sun. As soon as you get it wet, the exposure process will stop, or slow down drastically.

If so you print onto the scratchy part of the film correct?
@@Mrjseaton10 It's the matte side that goes against the screen, not the shiny side. You can catch your fingernail on the matte side. I hope this helps!

I Need from 8:30 to 9:00 minutes for expose my screens with 50 watts UV lamp.
Sounds about right.
