I so miss those mid 2000s Mac OSes. A shame you don't have a converter to record directly from the screen. The colors in the OS are stunning. I love and miss em! I wonder how many people out there are still using these old Macs for a very specific program. I think Snow Leopard is my last favorite from that era. GJ getting it running on an SSD and on the vid! Lots of Nostalgia here and great comments from those whole still enjoy using them. This could still make out for a great educational PC for a young kid if you find the right software similar to how I found a G4 at the dump which I installed 10.4 Tiger on it, put in a larger drive, and upgraded the ram to 1.25GB.

Hey there! I bought a capture device but it only does HDMI :( SO Now I need to by one that supports DVI, VGA passthrough, such a money sink to do things right ;( But your 100% spot on that it doesn't look great otherwise.. I'm amazed what people trough away and consider useless. But if I collected all their junk id have a junkyard in my house soon. But I'll probably restore/refurb a few and donate some soon! The art of using PowerPC Macs online is getting the right software - TenFourFox and InterWebPPC are more compliant than the old version of Lepoard Webkit used in Leopard (and work in Tiger too.)
Leopard Webkit is still efficient to play UA-cam though - it works for me on my G4 Powerbook. Using PPCMC7 UA-cam even plays on old G3 Macs.

Hi and welcome to the channel! Thanks for the info and tips! I couldn't get a supported TenFOurFox version, I suppose I could have gotten and older release of it. This G5 video card is only 64 meg so it's pretty anemic ;( If I can find a 128 or 256 meg one I could play higher resolutions and play some better games. But hey I'm just happy this runs as well as it does! I'll look into other software and see what I can get for it. Thanks again for watching and commenting I appreciate it :)

@@MotownBatmanHopefully you can find some old RAM for quite a cheap price. It was used in millions of old PCs too, so there's plenty out there. I wouldn't be surprised if some people were giving it away. An SSD will improve things too. As long as you remember the G5 is around 20 years old, and set your expectations appropriately, I'm sure you'll have some fun.

Hi, new subscriber here as of Jun 23, 2024. I like the presentation of the video, the steps were easy to follow but, somehow after multiple tries, I could not boot into Sorbet Leopard R15. I have the Mac Mini G4 PPC with OS 10.5.8. The partition I created for Clone Sorbet is an external SSD hard drive. The clone was completed successfully but when I went to Startup Disk the drive was not present so I knew it would not boot to Sorbet. I tried it anyway but no such luck. On another attempt, I did get the blinking ? I tried holding down the alt key during startup and only the original Ma HDD drive displayed. I tried the same with a few flash drives and the results are the same No Sorbet Leopard. Haven't the foggiest idea why the set is not working for me.

@@RememberThisTech I think I will buy a 256 GB 2.5" IDE SSD Drive and an IDE 44Pin 2.5 inch Hard Disk Case Enclosure for the Notebook or Laptop. Partition it (40, 90, 126) clone the original Hard drive to the 40GB, CCC Sorbet to the 90GB, and use the 126GB for Time Machine. Hopefully, this resolves my issue because an external flash drive or hard drive (mine; NVMe SATA SSD ) did not work. In fact quick way to check was to open the Startup Disk utility and see if my NEW drive was listed. It wasn't so therefore I knew the Sorbet would not boot up. Thought?

And this site also talks about "Mac OS X 10.5.8, as many parts and components as possible have also been transplanted from Mac OS X 10.6.8 Into Sorbet Leopard".
      here: forums.macrumors.com/threads/sorbet-leopard-your-power-mac-unleashed-revision-1-5-released.2300924/
