    This was such a great way to compare the three general styles! You’ve helped me realize that what is most pleasing to my eyes is the middle ground (semi-loose) one and I’ve recognized my own style in that one. 😊

      Yes it’s always fun to develop the ability to do multiples so you have them in your creative skill set and then use them as you need them in a piece.

    Great idea to show the 3 levels of lines. A little trick... if you run out of ink with just a few inches of line left to draw. Dip the tip of the nib in a little drop of water, it will dissolve the last bit of ink left and allow you to make that last little inch you need.

    The tutorial I didn't know I needed! This was so helpful and awesome. I always wondered about the most basic element - the line! Thank you so much for this.

    Interesting video, great to see the different styles. I find the loose style much easier and I’m happy with my results. I think the neater version takes a greater level of skill in which I am lacking.

      Thanks. So glad you enjoyed it. It’s so interesting that different people find different approaches easier or harder. Some people find the loose sketching so much harder. Thanks for sharing!

      @@sketchybrett lol. I actually started with three and finished up with number two. But I do like the real loose. I guess I'll graduate to that, if luck will have it? I'm tight with painting though, and can't seem to really loosen up a lot. I feel that I make a mess of it, if I do wet on wet or real wet. HELp!

    Hey Brett, just stumbled upon your channel and left a sub. Which nib are you using in the Lamy Safari and which document ink?

    • @sketchybrett
      @sketchybrett  Рік тому

      Thanks so much for the sub! I have a few nibs and they are really easy to change between. I was using the fine nib here and speedball ink. I also use Windsor & Newtown ink often.
