Great to see this. Was wondering what happened to this guy. Same primary school, same class. He got his nick name 'Buru' from a girl called Katlego in our class due to his light skin. This guy brought a Cape Cobra once to school.
5 million rands could have improved services for the villagers bathong. Now it's being focused on one individual who has a passion for wildlife. We all know the sector thrives when hand in hand with tourism, how is this snake facility supposed to benefit the rest of this impoverished community because even roads leading to this village are in tatters? Poor Buru here is just an instrument to syphon money from the municipal purse. I am yet to hear how income/ are going to be generated, employment created, livelihoods revived because as much as Buru is receiving marothana (dribs and drabs) training, he will surely NOT be "working" alone. Will they employ a herpetologist or will they always rely on short-coursed (crash -coursed) Buru? Will he be working alone to exhibit these creatures in the middle of a Kalahari village? As pretty and sweet as all this sounds, it LACKS PRACTICALITY and STINKS OF EXPLOITATION AND LIES! That would be on the part of the project initiators, but I would not expect much from a Northern Cape municipality, they put the word dismal in the dictionary. Is his training formal or was it just mentorship? Any certification to back this training received? I am quite not too sure. Yes, yes before you trash my opinion, my idea would have been to try further Buru's education, formally so. 🥴Hoping he has the relevant high school subjects. In the best case scenario, sponsor Buru to enrol for a degree that gives him formal direction into the discipline of herpetology (a zoology specialization in reptiles and amphibians). I am certain snake-handling is part and parcel thereof. I would then think it'll be easier for him to be able to get permits of practice and so on. He will have certification, be far more in better advantage to easily manoeuvre imparting knowledge/education and interest regarding his expertise in the entire Province. As for him to handle the legal aspects of the entire shindig , haaikhona baba! That's my worthless and jealous opinion 👩🎓Bye!
What a wonderful kind human.. thank you for helping these vulnerable creatures, Buru 🙏🏼❤️
I can't wait to see your Growth and Success 🥳🥳🥳🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🥂🍾,regards
