I'm an American who met my first love in Perth while in the US Navy in 1975. We wrote letters to each other the old fashioned way for a year and half and fell in love. Things happened and I let her go. Fast forward to 2016 when I found her. She was living in the US and we reconnected. The first pictures we exchanged were interesting, her wearing a necklace I sent her for her 16th birthday and I sent her a photo of all the love letters and cards she sent me all those years ago. I kept them. We are together now, travel together and share a love of music. It's a pretty good story.
Wow! That is so lovely. May I know if you continued your career in the Navy until you retired? Did you get married to someone else? How did you find her after all these years?
@@Amandaaaaaa123 No, I did not make a career of it. And yes, I did marry someone else and had children. So did the girl. I found her on Facebook after she changed her profile back to her maiden name. It's a beautiful story, one that I am constantly amazed at.

My first ex-husband was totally fixated on his first love. He'd have intimate phone conversations with her right in front of me. He'd go to see her when her trucker husband was out on the road. I’m so sorry he treated you that way, so disrespectfully, and the audacity of him to want to name your children after his ex is unbelievable! I’m glad you left him! My husband (now ex) eventually had an affair and married our babysitter after we were married 10 years but from early on was always seeking attention from other women, he still needed to be admired like he was in high-school. 😡😖
@@moondog7694 So, obviously he (MY EX) didn’t show those signs until after we were married or I wouldn’t have married him, like many women experience. That was 30 + years ago so I’ve figured out a lot since then. 🙄
So glad I didn’t end up with my first love. I’m not the same person 30 years later and based on some of his FB posts, I wouldn’t want to be associated with him, let alone be in a relationship. Bullet dodged! 😅
This is so cute! My first love is now married with 2 kids. We met at 15. And i am so happy for him, he deserves more than a great life, his childhood was hard & really sad, he was living on the streets as a teenager & in & out of boys homes, & always getting in trouble. I tried my best to help him turn into a good man, i studied the bible with him & i feel like i did a good job as he is now religious & married with kids of his own. I was pregnant when we were together to someone else & he was there at the birth & brought my son up for the first 3 years with me until we grew apart. But i will always have huge love for him. And i will never forget him. We still talk every now & then too.
Early love can definitely leave a lasting impression But somebody from my past looked me up to try to reconnect and my feeling was just, thank goodness I didn't end up with him. Found the real true love of my life when I was older. He's 1,000 times better than the childhood ones, in every way. I have some kept lifelong platonic girl friends though. They are sweet friendships because of history.
The other side of this is that in reconnecting with an old love, many don't take time to know who this person is today or take time to study this person's actions. Instead, they see that person as who they were decades ago and rush into a relationship. When the "rush" wears off, many find they have made a terrible mistake.
I agree... feeling young again and nostalgia makes re-living the past seem appealing but they have to think about why they broke up in the first place.
Yep happened to me. He was not that sweet boy who followed me around in high school anymore. He was a selfish, lustful, cheating jerk. Such a disappointment.😑
Very true. I reconnected with a boyfriend from high school days. We met up again 35 years later and had a wonderful, exciting relationship for eight years. Then he told me he'd met someone younger and left me to be with her. I should have been wiser, as he'd had three failed marriages and I was a widow. I thought I would be the love he needed, but foolishly on my part, his failed marriages I didn't see as a red flag.
Or just doesn't hold a torch for her husband and this seems "innocent" to her. She may be looking for a way out and honestly still trying to convince herself she's not.
I agree poor guy! Funny plot twist they have her looking through the white pages in search for his phone number as her old boyfriend has blocked her on social media his the one that dodged a bullet 😂no lady her doesn’t want old photos of you 😅
Mine also. And yes I still have a box of pictures and cards from him. I never ever wanted to get rid of them. They are so full of so many happy memories. My thoughts are with you. ❤
Love it, but also.. this could just as easily be the premise for a great thriller/horror movie about a stalker who finds that their highschool sweetheart is happily married with poor home security. 😂
When I was 16 years old I met, which I didn’t know it was gonna be the love of my life. He went to Vietnam while he was gone I got remarried he came back, got remarried, and 20 years later we met at a party and guess what I divorce my husband and ended up marrying him and we lived happily ever after until 10 years ago, when he passed away suddenly ago when he passed away, we were married for over 23 years. And obviously I was ready to leave my marriage which I did and never regretted it for one minute.
Yep I married my childhood sweetheart after we rekindle thanks to fb. Can’t explain it but it’s like we had always been together. Best thing we ever did and have been happily married no w for over 4yrs. They say you never forget your first love and we never did.
No, you don't forget your first love ❤️ 💕 I tried. Ir is such a beautiful love that you will never encounter again in your lifetime.... yes, you love again, but it is never the same...
I’ve witnessed a lot of old school lovers who meet at reunion and then cheated on their spouse. Old school reunion ain’t good if you’re still in marriage because you Will definitely divorce your partner for your first school lover.
When I joined Facebook in 2009, I was pleasantly surprised to start receiving contacts from my old high school friends. Despite being away from my hometown for over 25 years, I was able to reconnect with many of them. Of course, I was still struggling with the fact that I was gay, and only one of my friends knew. When I tried to get in touch with him, I was devastated to learn that he had been killed in a hate crime. It was the most heartbreaking news I ever received over the internet. I am in a relationship for over 30 years, I am so devasted that my sweetheart never had that chance. RIP Jimmy 💔
I met a young Aussie on holiday in 1988. We met at Surfers literally bumping into each other on the busy street. Not realizing it was love at first site. We weren't teenagers, he was 24 and I was 29! Never felt like that about anyone! I kept all his love letters under my bed for my 20 year marriage! It was a world wind romance! Fast forward and not having ever forgotten him (I named my youngest Sydney) It was under the Sydney Harbour Bridge that I knew I was hopelessly in love! I finally found him on Facebook 25 years later. We rekindled, long distance (I live in Canada) We were in daily contact for almost 3 years ( he named his only daughter after me) and then he abruptly stopped communicating! That was extremely difficult. Good luck to anyone in the same situation!
I have a similar story. It wasn't a childhood sweetheart, but a holiday romance. Met him in New York and the second I layed eyes on him I couldn't stop smiling. We had one absolutely beautiful evening and night and I think about him all the time. Have talked to him on Facebook since and he's still single. I'm however engaged. Maybe someday I'll meet him again and it will be like it was on that one magical day. Or maybe my fiancé is the one. I don't know yet. There's so much more life left to see.
I see trouble brewing for Tanya's marriage. I would be extremely unhappy if my husband would want to move heaven and earth to find an old school love. I don't see this ending well.
I did meet briefly with a long lost love after 16 years. You realise they got the dream life you thought you were going to have with them. The reason for contact was losing my sister. At the time I was what I thought was in a happy marriage. How times change. I'd still go on a coffee date because I never fell out of love.
I accidentally ran into my first love 40 years later- I was tickled pink! We had 3 dates, on the third he confessed to me he liked to wear women’s underwear…😳😳😳 All of a sudden I had this image of my knight In white armor with pink bikini underwear Under his armor- I ran for the hills!!! Somethings are best to be left in the past!!!
My meeting with my first love after 56 years in Paris was a catastrophe!! We first met in England kn art school. I left to study and live in Germany and then married after which my husband and I retired to Sri Lanka. My husband died. He found me in the Internet as I still used my maiden name. It was a very unpleasant experience. He turned out to be a terribly different difficult person whom I could not put up with. After two days I left Paris and flew back to Germany where I was on holiday breathing a sigh of great relief that I did not marry him! So it does not always turn out well!!!
I looked up my first love/husband after 38 yrs. I found, I visited, l left. He had so many chances to improve his life, but he preferred alcohol over EVERYthing. A very talented artist-but wasted it all. Oh well, now I know.
Through Facebook I was able to catch up with my heartthrob since the age of 16. He is 2 years older than I am and the years have been rough on him because of alcoholism and a few failed marriages. Those images I had carried around in my head for so long bore no resemblance to what I found. I was glad for the answer but very sorry he wound up the way he did. Needless to say, the fantasy abruptly ended.
I've tried to look for an ex for over 20 years here and there, no luck...and finally this year I found him and he has already passed away, that's how I found him from a funeral home page. I regret not finding him earlier.
I found my high school crush 20 or so years after he moved to another province. I will never forget his first words. "I waited 20 years for you". He subsequently found his now wife and they have a nice life together. He was so good to me and I wish I loved him as much as he loved me. It didn't work out. I am now divorced wishing I had married my high school sweetheart.
I dont think Anyone forgets their first love and the older they get, the more curious they become. It's a combination of "do you think about me periodically the way I think about you? and wanting to connect with someone who truly knew you well "way back when". BUT...if you are happily married, making this connection is pitting your spouse and your reality against your first love and your dreams and would be a Huge mistake.
I told that clown years ago I wish I never met and I did continue to communicate with him because I was taught to forgive but I mean that more now than ever! I possibly missed the person I was supposed to be with at that time because I meant him! After I meant him things got worse very quickly! Now I’ll never know the things you should experience when you’re young and at your best ! I’ve been robbed! Just like those slaves ! Although it was much worse for them but they found love and had children! These people were not supposed to be in my life!
I agree An ex is an ex for a reason Wish I could run from mine but when I return home to visit our small-town he follows like a puppy dog I can't stand it but must be polite
Good story But I must say, that Bruce and Lynne look like they're in their late 60's to early 70's as opposed to being in their mid-50's. I often see Australians looking much, much older.
My family moved from Texas to Missouri when I was in high school. We were just heartbroken. It’s been over 30 years and he still calls me every now and then. We are both married but there has always been something between us. I know if I never left we would be together. Life just took us down a different path. We aren’t unhappy with our lives. I think we just miss each other. It’s hard to explain.
I have 2 former loves from my teen years, both being long resolved and I am very glad. Did finally get the love I had dreamed of as a young girl, we are so well suited for each other, plus the love we share is way more solid and beautiful than the former ones. We are indeed best friends, but didn't meet in our teen years
My first love happened when I was 15 we were best friends as well, but we broke up after 2 years. Over many years we tried to contact each other but we always missed on the timing. When I was in my 40's I happened to be in the area and gave his mom a call she gave me his number and told me he was married. I talked with my dad about it and he said don't call it could cause problems and hurt. I didn't call and threw away the number. I am 77 now and still think about him from time to time. I am happy I didn't make that call.
I absolutely hated most people I meet in school. At most, I liked people enough to hangout now and again. Cannot absolutely relate 😂 I'm graduating Med school in two weeks, grateful I meet my boyfriend elsewhere.
So ? You got on with your life, went to university and soon will be in the rat race. Your english ...worries me.. You met not meet..your boyfriend. Blimey and you're doing medicine..
Nah, I'm a realist. In-between too many other memories are created which you were no part of. Why waste time on unknowns. If it did not work out the first time around, there probably was a good reason for it.
That wife that wants to find the ex howd you feel if your husband is looking for his ex girlfriend? He might be saying just looking for her to return the photos but you cant really be sure what will happen when they see each other. Its not a nice feeling is it. Youre not being empathetic. (Oh just listening now about this dr telling her the same stuff lol).
Oh boy….. I’m dyslexic and I read that title very, very wrong. I saw the words, “adult, childhood, and romance” and I literally thought this was gonna be a completely different video….. That goodness it’s not what I was expecting. 😭
I made contact with my high school love (we were together for four years.) I was totally in love with him. I contacted him at age 46 after my divorce. We talked and talked but there was no spark on his part, just friendship. He was divorced by his wife after his time in the service (Vietnam) and he was obviously afraid to try again. I moved on. Yes, at the bottom of that was knowing each other well as teenagers and the shared history of having the same background, same school memories, friends etc.
First thing I noticed about both of them! They both look much older, at least 10-15 years older. It is all about frumpy hairstyles and clothing usually. They match well enough though, so it doesn't really matter.
We have done that. My husband an I were school sweethearts. He was my first boyfriend and will be my last husband 😂 We got married at the young age of 50yrs old😂😂
My first “love” found me on Facebook years later. He’s married. I’m divorced. He messaged me so we chatted a bit. Then he wouldn’t stop messaging me. I wasn’t interested in talking with a married man and ignored him till he went away. Lol. The lady with the box is delusional and ridiculous.

So, obviously he (MY EX) didn’t show those signs until after we were married or I wouldn’t have married him, like many women experience. That was 30 + years ago so I’ve figured out a lot since then. 🙄
We all should be with someone who has a natural inclination to treasure us. Glad you were able to leave. Did you in fact have a baby girl?
Omg that is so wrong and disrespectful on all levels
Glad you left to save your sanity ,hope you are happy now 💟
So glad I didn’t end up with my first love. I’m not the same person 30 years later and based on some of his FB posts, I wouldn’t want to be associated with him, let alone be in a relationship. Bullet dodged! 😅
Almost this exact story happened to my old colleague and it was absolutely magical to hear her story !
@@coolbreeze5683 sounds like the first couple's issue was distance. but what got me is the number of times they've both been married
I feel sorry for the husband with the box wife 😮
Me also, clearly this woman holds a torch for her old boyfriend.😢
Or just doesn't hold a torch for her husband and this seems "innocent" to her. She may be looking for a way out and honestly still trying to convince herself she's not.
What makes her think he'd want the box anyway
I bet you she’s divorced now. She’s not invested in her marriage or she would have put the old photos away and forgotten about it.
I agree poor guy! Funny plot twist they have her looking through the white pages in search for his phone number as her old boyfriend has blocked her on social media his the one that dodged a bullet 😂no lady her doesn’t want old photos of you 😅
I’m happy for you all! My first love is waiting for me in heaven
That is not even vaguely funny “mate”!
Maybe the "poor home security" would be intentional?? 🤔
First love never dies😊
So true! Never loved anyone like that after.
It's a beautiful thing to rekindle old flames❤❤❤
Not a chance! Lol 😂 however I wish them all luck and every happiness.
Beautiful love this . May I ask when you connected on Fb were you both unattached
Is it possible to forget your first if you really tried?
No, you don't forget your first love ❤️ 💕 I tried. Ir is such a beautiful love that you will never encounter again in your lifetime.... yes, you love again, but it is never the same...
😂😂 I lost it when the first guy was asked what he thinks and the first thing was to touch his tummy 😂😂😂

Sorry to hear it turned out that way. Since he did that to you, he probably wasn't the person to be with long term anyway.
Maybe he was married? Or something happened to him? You should confirm.
Sounds like his wife put a stop to it.
@@hanimay6843 Love the one you're with. That's my advice to you, if you want a happy marriage.
I stay in touch with my high school boyfriend. I am divorced and he is married. It has been over 50 years. Lots of affection and memories.
I see trouble brewing for Tanya's marriage. I would be extremely unhappy if my husband would want to move heaven and earth to find an old school love. I don't see this ending well.
Love This My Face Hurt from Smiling all through This I never forgot my first love either

I did meet briefly with a long lost love after 16 years. You realise they got the dream life you thought you were going to have with them. The reason for contact was losing my sister. At the time I was what I thought was in a happy marriage. How times change. I'd still go on a coffee date because I never fell out of love.
Awww I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you find love one day xx
I’m so very sorry for the loss of your sister.
Maybe you should look him up?? You never know what the future holds…❤
The married woman trying to reconnect with her ex is wild. Girl he doesn't want those damn photos 😂
I accidentally ran into my first love 40 years later- I was tickled pink! We had 3 dates, on the third he confessed to me he liked to wear women’s underwear…😳😳😳
All of a sudden I had this image of my knight
In white armor with pink bikini underwear
Under his armor- I ran for the hills!!! Somethings are best to be left in the past!!!
I still love him and always will.
How many years has it been since you last saw the ex?band how long did it last?
Awwww I so wanted this for sooo long but now I am married to the real love of my life.
I understand! Through facebook, I was able to find my "First love". We are still good friends and nothing more.🥰
I dont think Anyone forgets their first love and the older they get, the more curious they become. It's a combination of "do you think about me periodically the way I think about you? and wanting to connect with someone who truly knew you well "way back when". BUT...if you are happily married, making this connection is pitting your spouse and your reality against your first love and your dreams and would be a Huge mistake.
I feel this hard
I told that clown years ago I wish I never met and I did continue to communicate with him because I was taught to forgive but I mean that more now than ever! I possibly missed the person I was supposed to be with at that time because I meant him! After I meant him things got worse very quickly! Now I’ll never know the things you should experience when you’re young and at your best ! I’ve been robbed! Just like those slaves ! Although it was much worse for them but they found love and had children! These people were not supposed to be in my life!
Ahhh there's nothing like first love.
Is it possible to forget your first even if you tried?
Awwww❤❤❤The couple meeting are both so sweet! Samantha and Kirk are so cute 🥰 too. Marty is cute too.
Well, this sounds great what about when you only remember his name and wonderful memories!? I think just let it go…
Yes those romances are to be left in the past

@@1Kaileegirl if you aren't happy with him following you around then you can politely tell him to stop and get a life like you have
It can also lead to disaster and you end up remembering why it didn't work out the first time. Coming from experience, remember the good and the bad.
Good story But I must say, that Bruce and Lynne look like they're in their late 60's to early 70's as opposed to being in their mid-50's. I often see Australians looking much, much older.
I've never gotten over my first love . We were victims of circumstance.
Same her!
Is it really true you don't forget your first?
I have 2 former loves from my teen years, both being long resolved and I am very glad. Did finally get the love I had dreamed of as a young girl, we are so well
suited for each other, plus the love we share is way more solid and beautiful than the former ones.
Glad you did not make that call. You are a good and kind person. True to yourself!
Good call. It is better to only have one person hurting than three!
May God bless you with a new love as a reward for doing the right thing.
Never under-estimate how great the 80s were!

Is it sweet to see how he never stopped looking for her... However Lynn 53? No way.
She did look a lot older than 53 but the picture of her at 15 in the early '70s would put her at about that (this episode is from 2009).
First thing I noticed about both of them! They both look much older, at least 10-15 years older. It is all about frumpy hairstyles and clothing usually. They match well enough though, so it doesn't really matter.
I married my first crush , we met after 13 years. Happily married with one child and counting 😄
