I went back to confession about five years ago. Both me and my son went and there was so much. I would go determined to say everything on my heart that I have been thinking about and praying about then the following week I'd go again, same thing. I didn't intentionally withhold sins I just got overwhelmed trying to get thru them. Prior to that I hadn't really gone as regularly although I always went during Lent and Advent. Now, my son and I both go sometimes, every Sunday before Mass - especially after a tough week at school or work. It's the best gift Jesus gave us. I can't stress it enough. I am always so grateful for absolution and I'm eager to do penance. I also now regularly pray for my parish priest and always offer him up at all the masses I attend. Without him, I'd be covered in the mud of sin. God has granted me so much in a very special way - confession.
I go behind a screen all the time, does the priest most likely know me yeah most likely but when behind a screen and hearing the voice of the priest, you in fact are hearing the voice of the Lord in his council
A priest as I think, needs to pray before entering into the confession seat to hear the confessions. A priest when doing all of this right....does not remember any of the confessions when he go out of the confession seat. Even a priest who sees the person. Example: in Medjugorje where it's the confessional huge....a lot of pelgrims come and the priests are in a confessional room or outside in a chair with a plate with the language (s) they understand. In the room they also see the person. A priest who has the grace to do all of this good, does not even remember the person who was with him for confession.
Isn’t it beautiful how Don Bosco knew what each of his boys needed to hear and said it with such kindness that they couldn’t help but feel sorry for whatever sin they had committed? He was truly apostolic.
I hope he spoke on it more directly in another instance. But there was a conversation that he had with St Dominic Savio, who wanted so badly to become a saint that it grieved his usually cheerfulness - because he was not allowed to do hard penances and fasting as a student. Bosco told him that it is easy to become a saint, and that, as a student, his penance was to bear the sufferings cheerfully with patience and to be a good friend to his peers, etc... That is very similar to St Therese's Little Way of a childlike confidence in God.
The USCCB says that both the screen and the face to face must be offered unless the church is so small that only the face to face can be. Since the pandemic our pastor refuses to use our confessional. He feels that there is not enough air circulation and he might get sick and make others sick. So once a week he does face to face in a classroom. The penatent sits 6 feet away. My husband and I go elsewhere for confession.
Thank you because I have that problem,my church Priest is very serious and I feel he lost his faith. Sorry my lord but are my feelings.God Bless you ADRIAN.🙏🙏🙏👍😇
I was taught that mortal sins must be confessed as soon as the person is aware they’ve committed said sin, and that venial sins are forgiven by attending mass and accepting the sacrament of the Eucharist. If anything here is wrong or incomplete, let me know.
At 0:50 you say that, "This sacrament acts as a true magic eraser..." It is a mistake to use the word "magic" here. "Magic" is work of the devil and should not be used to refer to the Grace received from Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Otherwise this is a fine and helpful video. Thanks and God Bless You 👍❤🙏
Hello unrelated question- why do you always wear the rosary around your hand like that? I see a man at mass who does it too always. I was curious, God bless
It's like having holy images in the house or a statue of the Holy Family next to my bed, first thing I see is baby Jesus with his Holy Mother and St Joseph. It helps me always to think of Jesus first and then He is last I see and think about and love when I turn off the lights to sleep.

Wow! Thank you for sharing! Stay tuned we have 3 videos on confession coming up soon.
@ that’s great I think it’s pertinent in this day and age to teach about confession
So true. I remember being afraid of confessing certians sins. Once I did i i never thought of them again.
Yes, no matter how many times I've gone to confession I always feel this way!
This is one reason priests need to offer anonymous confession behind a screen.
agreed
I couldn't do that, I have the same confessor for 15 years. But I understand why that could be helpful

He was truly apostolic.
Imagine loving every person you meet so much that you seem them all as individuals.
@@donboscostories ? wdym
My brain is not working rn lol
Just saying that's what Don Bosco did and its very impressive to love people so much that you know them and treat each person as a personal friend.
@@donboscostories Ah I see. True. His love for souls was pretty amazing.
Praise the Lord🙏
May God bless you brother and your ministry
Thank you!

Does Don Bosco have any talks on scruples and or Grief/Despair?
Love the series!

@@vivacristorey4363 Not exactly the talk I was wondering about. More like Padre Pio's sermons on anxiety and despair.
I'm working on a series of videos of his advice to confessors and penitents, I'll see what I can find, stay tuned.

this is a great channel. When I watch these videos, I perceive that I get a minor consolation each time.
Great to hear!

Pray for his soul, priests are always under attack by the devil

Nope, you got it!

🙏🙏🙏🌟
Please, Holy Spirit, open my spiritual eyes and ears to remember sins that I canceled.
Amen! Great prayer!

I understand what you're saying but the reference is actually to a product called magic eraser which people use to scrub things clean.
It is always to be behind a screen
do i need to be very specific on a sin I committed?
name your sins in number and in kind. So what did you do specifically, without giving unnecessary details, and how many times.
What if you don't have a good church to go to? If all the local priests are liberal or heretic?
Hello unrelated question- why do you always wear the rosary around your hand like that? I see a man at mass who does it too always. I was curious, God bless
So I can always have Our Lady on my mind!

Where did Matthew Miller go ? 🤔
He has his own channel: The Catholic Men's Podcast
@ Thanks 😊
When he ascended... Jesus didnt have a cell phone in his hand ...or any other baggage.
true
Except 😊love and mercy
You confess your sins to Jesus or the Holy Ghost. Not a man.
