I did the complete replacement of the a/c condenser because the power steering cooler was leaking. I took my time and was methodical, it took me about 7-hours. It took me a while to slide the new cooler into place without beating the crap out of the cooling fins. I bought a FORD OEM replacement cooler, and new seals (roughly $280 US). I had to use a lot of de-greaser spray to clean the whole area before and after the job. I recharged the A/C with about 1 and 1/2 bottles of A/C Pro from autozone. I opened the area up by removing the air supply baffle to the motor intake, and completely disconnected wires from the battery.

I thank you so much for this video, it saved me so much time and money since I like to do my own repairs. Didn’t know the power steering ran through the a/c condenser first time I’ve seen this.

Great video! I think I need to replace my ac condenser as well. I see some wet spots at the top corner passenger side of my condenser as well.

Can you also bypass the old cooler and route the lines to a stand alone ps cooler?

i found the answer myself. yes you can just bypass the old cooler (power steering cooler only) and route lines to a new stand alone cooler.

I dont understand when you’re saying put Freon oil in the system. What do you mean by that? You fill up an ounce of Freon into the lines but it’ll escape if it’s not connected ? I don’t understand what you’re explaining there

I know this is late, but I just did this job. I believe what he means is that he had a gas supply of R-134A without any oil so he needed to add a lubricant for the a/c pump. The A/C Pro from autozone already has a lubricant included with the gas.

Pag46 is the oil you are looking for. You can get it in a standalone bottle to "oil" the condenser before hooking everything up and recharging it with Freon. Some of the Freon cans come with "oil" in them although you can get it without and you will need to have to have a big tool like this guy is showing to add oil, or do it yourself and add the proper oil before filling with Freon.
