This trend is becoming very common during manager positions or promotions in corporates for the white collar jobs only where no physical effort is needed.
Update - I recently went to a college for a campus hiring drive and my company had asked us to hire more women (a fixed target percentage of female hires was given to us, which was more than 60%).
I too work in MNC, I have not seen any profiles explicity mentioning the position as diversity hiring. No manager or director will ever compromise on quality just for the sake of hiring women.
