- 1 small potato
1 pound confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons butter, soften
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
peanut butter
Peel and slice the potato. In a small saucepot, cover the potato slices with water and cook over medium heat until soft. Drain potato well and place in large mixing bowl.
Beat until mashed with butter, and vanilla extract.
Add half of the confectioner's sugar and mix well. Mix in the remaining sugar, scraping down sides as needed.
Line a countertop with a sheet of waxed paper dusted with confectioner's sugar.
Scrape out dough onto waxed paper and dust top with more confectioner's sugar. Roll out to a thickness of about 1/4 of an inch.
Spread dough with peanut butter and roll up like you are making cinnamon rolls.
Once you have rolled it up into a log, roll the log up in your plastic wrap chill in the fridge until ready to serve ,usually about 2 hours.
When ready to serve, remove plastic wrap and slice it into 1/4 inch slices.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
Please note: potatoes are different sizes. If you end up with more potato, you're gonna need more confectioner's sugar. We're gonna have to use our noodles on this one and be ready to add more confectioner's sugar if need be. You'll just end up with more candy. Work it in there until it becomes a dough. You might have to add a lot more sugar because you might end up with a lot more potato. You can do this. I have faith in you!
I never heard of potato candy. My A1C would go through the roof. WOW
Hi Sara. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE. I miss you Sara. Prayerfully, you'll post more in 2023. I'm going to make this as one of my desserts for Christmas dinner. EVERYONE HAVE A MERRY GRINCHMAS AND A HAPPY WHO YEAR!! ☃️ 🎄
Been waitin for a new video. Looks great. Thank you
I can already tell this is going to be another Simply Sara classic.
My daughter , every time she wants to watch your channel she asks to watch “sippy sippy sippy sippy sarah “ 😂
Thank you for your time and your channel. Big hugs.
This is so relaxing to watch. 😂 Bringing back memories of watching my granny make this. I make it for my brother every blue moon, it was always his favorite. 💜💜
My mother in law used to make potato candy ❤💗🧡💛💖
Wow! Never heard of this (from Australia we don’t have the good stuff here). Thanks Sara! Hope you had a merry Christmas!
My Mom would make this recipe at Easter time.. without the PB roll into small "egg" shapes, let it sit on a cooling rack, to dry it out , somewhat.. then dip into melted choclate with 2 forks. back onto the cooling racks to harden.. Decorated them with basic butter cream icing.. She would try PB mixed w/ 4X sugar but never got a consistantcy she liked to roll PB then cpver w. the sheet of potatoe mixture..then dip.. Us kids enjyed the ""mistakes""!! Also within our family was called Irish Potatoe Candy... being we were Irish..was a ::poor man's"" candy treat It is interesting how good this DOES tatse!! Again, Sara brigs memories flooding back with this recipe!!
Never heard of it but I love peanut butter so I’d try it ❣️
We've made this for years. We do the pinwheels with peanut butter. You can also put some coconut in it and dip in chocolate for a mounds bar flavor.
Yes , the coconut. My recipe for potato candy adds a half package of coconut, and uses almond extract instead of the vanilla.
😊
Peanut butter is a whole different take! Sounds awesome too! 😊
Looks good!!!
Looks yummy. I will need to make this! Happy New Year!
If you were to roll the Potato candy between 2 sheets of wax paper there will be no sticking and roll better. After you have rolled out remove the top sheet of wax paper spread the peanut butter, then lift the edge of the bottom sheet and pull over the top and the candy will roll perfectly off the sheet.
Thank you for sharing Merry Christmas 🎄
Peace Love and Many Blessings from Northern Arizona!👍✌️❤️🙏🙏🙏😇
Thank You Sara!
Thank you for this amazing candy recipe Sara! I had never heard of this before! I would of never known you could make candy out of 🥔. Happy Holidays love! 🎄 🎅

Merry Christmas 🎄 Sara! Hope you have a Blessed Time with Family & Friends!
Omg I remember having this is as a kid in class. I always wondered how it was made. Happy Holidays Sara!
Oh neat. I remember my mother making this but I didn’t know about the potato. We call them pinwheels or peanut butter candy.
Hi Sara , Looks very good . Merry Christmas And a Happy New Year to you and husband.
Thank you Sara for sharing. I love every time you share a video because you have shared recipes that I loved as a child growing up, that I only ever got from my great grandma. I thought I would never have these treats again after she passed away over 40 years ago. Thank you for giving me back some of my most cherished memories of that time in my life that I can now do for my family. I just love you Ms Sara. ♥
Yummy
Interesting I've never heard of this. It'd be fun to try
Merry Christmas God bless you 🙏❤️
I’ve never heard of potato candy before…
It's really good. If you like fudge, you would like it.
I want to try this candy made out of sweet potatoes. Have a Merry Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS SARA
Any specific type of potato work better?
Looks wonderful Happy Holidays to you and your family 🌲⛄🎄💝❤️
I’m a Brit and I’ve NEVER heard of potato candy. I’m wondering if we have anything even like it? I certainly can’t think right now - potato cakes maybe?
I’ve never seen this but I would try it with Nutella maybe that sweet tea in the background is calling my name❤
I've been making this for years, just like Sara does. I'm 67 and this is something I learned when I was very young. I'm thinking of creating this with sweet potatoes and maybe cream cheese, only because I don't know if peanut butter would go with sweet potatoes.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas
Wow, this is really a great recipe! This is on my make list! Always enjoy your videos..but miss seeing your beautiful face! Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas and New Year!
Happy Holidays from Palm Springs California USA ❣️ Thank You for taking the time to create and share this with us all ❤️
do you make your own vanilla extract? That was a big container of it!
Nice recipe Sara and Betty! Hope you can make more holiday videos ❤️

Because she hasn’t

Sarah, may you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy new year and let’s pray that this new year will be a damn site better than the past couple years
I've heard of potato candy but have never had it or seen it made. I bet it's yummy. Merry Christmas! 🎄
Oh, my God!
I wish I could taste it because my brain can't compute those particular ingredients mixed together. 😋
Nuke a tater, dump 2 lbs. of confectinere's sugar all over it and try to eat it with a big glob of Jif. Same thing and Good luck so that you don't choke on it.
That’s a good description of Sara’s food. She cleans out fridge every video
Great video . Keep being Sarah. Merry Christmas to your family. How is Mr. Winter? Have you done a Gingerbread video?

Please don’t think all your views excuse your poor habits, listen to suggestions as you lose viewers.
Okay 👌 one little spud 🥔 and a kilo of icing sugar and then they call it potato 🥔 candy when it should be rightly called icing sugar candy 🍭 with a touch of potato 🥔
I've heard of potato candy but never tried it and don't think I will. But it's great seeing you Sara hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New York.
You’re missin out. It’s delicious 😋
Is Sara going to the big city?
Are we ever going to see your pretty face again?? Thanks for all the recipes!
Appalled by your attre
cant you add flour on that padding so you can roll that dough easier?
I wouldn't use flour because it will affect the taste. I would use powdered sugar. Mine are easier to roll up with the peanut butter because my house is probably cooler and my mix is less sticky. And I normally only use about 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes because it still takes a lot of powered sugar. It's pretty amazing how the potatoes just melt that sugar for quite a bit. I was just thinking about making some and adding cocoa so we could have some chocolate ones with peanut butter. I like to experiment.
Sara..I love your videos but your sound needs work..i like to hear your sweet voice and it's very hard to hear you..
Would you say it’s healthy since it’s a vegetable.
Lol I just said to myself do you like a lil potato with your sugar my Lord that’s a lot of sugar instead of cold and potato candy. They are to call it powdered sugar candy
It's easier to roll using wax paper.
My mom is southern, and she has never made potato candy. Would be fun to try. She would use a spatula to mix it rather than bare hands though.
5:00 this is why i can't eat at potlucks
You would think being on UA-cam in front of lots of people she would be a little cleaner I mean look at her nightgown
🤣
Omg.. total cringe
👍 true
Sara, I luv ya, girl, but I can't get over that nighty... 🤣😂🤣
This dish looks so delicious 😋 Is there an allergy free version I can make for my family? We are all deathly allergic to peanuts😢
Almond butter, Nutella, pecan pie filling
Try sunbutter made from sunflower seeds
Same here! Try Sunbutter!
Try Wowbutter Natural Peanut Free Creamy
Way, way, way too much sugar for me. No thanks. Diabetic.
That much confectioners sugar would put me in a diabetic coma.
Thats a lot of sugar!! I only eat a few shortbread cookies at Christmas not nearly as much sugar maybe a cup l have Diabectic too
Sara probably has diabetes too
@@christinagould9807 I don't have diabetes but eating that much sugar would instantly cause my body to go into shock and immediately become diabetic.
Sara: I’m gonna be on the most popular social media platform, think I’ll wear that dirty dress.
Betty- you're tickling that dough ! Use the handles and push down . Xx
Honey when you get older you have arthritis in your joints ,and your hands don’t have the strength in your hands anymore .
So lovely just saw this sara miss you❤❤❤❤ I HAVE ONE QUESTION🙏😅😅 Where do you did you get all these wonderful recepies??? I live them thank you so much❤❤❤💚💚💚💚💞💞💞💞💚💚💚
Can someone buy Sara dome shout for those stains?? She needs a hygiene lesson
I don't know why she doesn't make 1 video instead of 2. It's easy to edit 2 videos to make 1.
Double views I’m betting
Hi Sara, could you please start doing some taste testing videos? E.g. trying various international snacks? You could also make it themed - e.g. you and Betty could dress up in Kimono’s when trying Japanese snacks, saree’s for Indian etc
🙄 Surely you're joking.
Maybe she could start by wearing clean clothes???
Hope you washed your hands before dealing with that.
Does Betty live with you
Such a mess
Honey, if you rolled it out on plastic wrap it would help you roll up the log a lot easier...
Why do you continue to involve Betty? She’s clumsy
Turns her back to camera nd yells unimportant info
Seems to take forever
Grandma took over l see
Too much of a workout for Sarah
Oh it wouldn’t be a video without Sweaty taking over the helm.
Dirty clothes are not good . I’m not being mean but if she’s cooking then cleanliness is everything. Miss your old videos 💕
I get messy cooking all the time! No telling how much cooking she did before… she is sharing a recipe not asking for opinions on her clothing or cleanliness. Sad, somethings are just better kept to yourself. Why do people think it’s okay to say whatever crosses their mind to people?
Thank you Sara. I enjoy your videos… new and old…
@@allysonashley8596 when you put yourself out there on UA-cam doing a video in your kitchen, you open yourself up to comments and criticisms, so you ought to look presentable by wearing clean clothes while baking and cooking in your video! The same thing goes for your kitchen that you are working out of, a dirty kitchen would be a turnoff for many people as well! When I turned this channel on to watch, guess what jumped into my face first thing? A soiled dress! 🥴 This is NOT ment to be a mean comment, but looking at Sarah wearing a not so clean outfit as she is baking is NOT appealing to me and is a visually turn-off, sorry if that offends you but that’s the way it is! If you are at home in your own kitchen cooking or baking and your outfit gets messed up, then yes who cares, but the same doesn’t go for being on UA-cam in a video doing the same thing and looking sloppy!
@@gj9736 you didn’t offend me. I just think if you can’t say something nice keep it to yourself or just don’t watch it. It seems to easy for people to be critical of strangers while hiding behind a phone or computer. The bigger picture is who cares! She is sharing her cooking recipes…. Focus on that, if it’s not appetizing because her dress is dirty then watch it. Why people feel the need to be critical of someone just because they can is beyond me. That’s the issue with todays social media.
@@allysonashley8596 To make it clear, I am not fan of hers and never will be, UA-cam suggested her video as possible interest to me and believe me I won’t be watching her anymore! Since you are fine with this women looking like she does in her video baking, more power to you! The cooking channels that I am subscribed to and watch on a regular basis, none of the women appearing in front of camera are in soiled outfits because it would be a turnoff and unappealing and they know it! I really don’t think that Sarah cares much about her appearance which is her absolute right, but putting herself out there on social media, she could try just a little bit to look presentable while baking. And since you brought up the so called issue with social media these days, I am of the older generation and believe in telling the truths which by the way goes a long way. You can whitewash it by saying “who cares” if you want to, but by doing so you yourself are not being honest and there are many others who would disagree with you besides myself!!!
Yes Karen
Perleese wash your top😖
Her clothes are always dirty as is the rest of the place
That frock!!! Has the laundromat gone out of business in Ft. Gay?!?
