- The RBM3 got some new turbo love thanks to @TurbosmartHQ with one of their new 6466 turbos with a 1.00 rear housing. Comparing it with one of the most responsive turbos in the market - Borg warner EFR, we were surprised with the results. Enjoy guys and as always big thanks to Powertune Australia for helping fit it and of course tuning her up.

glad you enjoyed it. I love making these vids. Just wish I could finish it with some track testing. If only this was all Japan we could just take the car out the following day no problems.

That’s the plan for now. As long as it doesn’t start pissing out all the time. Some tracks won’t let you on if it’s leaking even the slightest

Honestly I would go billet from here. Id say the cast one he has will be a while till its proven and it will also be pricey I think. Unless it was around 2K - 3K I wouldn't waste the time/money. Time is the biggest factor these days. Best to go down the proven path.

Doesn’t matter with this one. It’s dry sump. But it’s also a billet crank from PPM

Looks like the 9174 was pretty decent! Iv just put a 9174 t4 split pulse 1.05 on my barra with a Artec manifold, it is awesome 440rwkw at 16psi at 5800rpm 98 octane, nice and responsive for its size.

Its a shame theres no real gains to be had, Borg 100% sounded better too but hopefully it performs well for ya out on track. personally i'd stick with the borg without any gains down low. just goes to show you cant beat years of R&D. fingers crossed on the block 🤞

Was in a pinch and had to sell it. It’s now in thailand and it’s got a 3.2l setup

I have the EFR 9174, same turbo on an RB26, but I make another 200kw at 4000rpm, and a bit more up top. Why is this engine so lazy? Because of the crack in the block? Aren't you running a cradle?
I’d say you’re on a happy dyno. What boost?
@@DriftSquid CRD, 26psi 110krpm turbo speed. Full boost by 3500rpm holding to 8500rpm. 1psi from 1800rpm. 1.05 rear. 2mm os valves, 272 cams, full port, gas ported pistons, fire rings, E85 of course.

@@DriftSquid every time I go out I break something, and I have a bad habit of not hitting record on my helmet cam. So no videos with this engine. It's getting gearbox rebuilt :(

Hey what size housing was on the efr? And what power and boost was it at? Have the 9174 ready to go on rb28 but now’s the time to change if I need to
1.0 rear also and same boost mate. Both turbos tapped out.
Squidward what turbo size and brand would you recommend for a built RB25 has a V band 6 boost mani and plazmaman top half intake plenum 1650 injectors. Thanks in advance
So many options its hard to say. All depends what you want. Ill look through youtube and see what others have done and find something you want to match.

Is it true that bullet has a billet rb30 thats just as tall as the rb26?
Yes it’s true and is in an r34 gtr at Powertune now. Will be running soon
Yeah its just bullets billet rb26 but because of the design allows for a 3L with larger bore over the cast rb26’s limits. However the new prp block will allow for a 3L setup also due to its increased bore thickness. Think its called the Bullet Streetzilla
Go rb30 block and de stoke it to 2.8
I would love to create a de stroked Rb30 engine. But I would want a billet block so I can really push it.

@@DriftSquid to be fair squid , at the power levels your making for drifting after 750hp doesn’t the power feel the same at 1000hp for drifting , cause the wheel is off the charts at those power levels
Look into it I reckon the rb30 will live there stronger than the 26 better to ask chia as his the pro but that’s my opinion 👍🏼
