I always add at least 2 slots for pens. I agree, it is a pain to search for a pen at the bottom of my purse. I also add a key fob on the inside of all my purses to hold my keys.
One of my purses has a piece of wide elastic that is sewn with stitching every half inch or so for three little slots for 3 pens

Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you for giving measurements also in Inches! Health limits the length of time I can spend on a project so if measurements aren’t also in inches it takes me a lot longer to get the measurements correct so I have to skip any tutorials that don’t include inches. Thank you again for being such a thoughtful person. 😊

I’ve made several bags and I can’t even explain why this one is so good and makes the process so easy, but it does. I, like many others, would love to know all the same allowances. That was the only drawback to this tutorial. I’m working hard on being better about my seam allowances because I know they make a difference. I just finished one as a gift and I’m obsessed with it.
At 8 minutes into the video is a close-up as the outer pieces are being sewn. The mark on the stitch plate shows it is a half-inch seam allowance.
I don’t mind the music at all. The birds chirping is a nice addition. Excellent tutorial.

I have just finishing my own bag, it has really turned out beautifully.
I made 2 personal modifications, I put closures on the front pocket for security and reinforced the base of the bag and lining with the iron on facing to help with wear and tear.

I guess that would be easy to run 1 extra stitch on 1 side of pocket.😊

I was searching for the perfect tote for a very special person and this was the one I chose for many reasons. First of all you presented the video in an easy to follow format, just perfect. This tote goes together so easy. It would make a most beautiful purse. I love all the pockets, my daughter will love it too. She wants it for all her coloring pages, pens and colors. It went together so easy I made a second one the same day. Both will be filled with gifts for Christmas. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

Excellent tutorial! Your step-by-step presentation is easy to follow and the overlays of text and sewing lines make everything very clear. Thank you for limiting the video at the sewing machine as that can get quite tedious to watch. I love that you added interfacing behind the snaps - brilliant. Will be checking out your other videos.

The interfacing is pretty much essential with a single thin layer of lining fabric otherwise it will tear really easily. I know a lot of tutorials don't include it but they really should. I'm really glad this one did. You can use another small square of fabric if you don't have interfacing at home, any reinforcement is better than none. This is especially so if you use plastic snaps.
I have made over 7 bags. I use 2 different colors and designs. I'm putting zippers on top and planning to use a zipper pocket . Its so easy to make. Thank you for sharing such a fun hobby. I'd send a photo but don't know how.

I would ask could you please clarify your seam allowance some appear 1/2" to 1/4". Essential for good results. At the beginning of tutorial a
list of measurements to cut fabrics and also size of zips etc would be helpful as most sewers like to have all fabrics etc cut prior to sewing.

I increased the size to 17x20 and it is the perfect size for shopping. I also increased the corner cut outs to 3x3 in making a wider interior.

I will stitch a similar one with some changes as per my need....... longer handles, zip at the main opening of the bag and a zippered pocket inside too!!

made one yesterday. i needed a tote to hold my water bottle and tablet. I made mine with the pockets inside. I put my initial on the outside. it turned out really nice. i added some thick poster board on the bottom for extra stability. thank you

@@tiiug.9973 I made a few of these now with my domestic machine and all have come out great. I even used Bozal foam instead of interfacing and still everything went well!
