    I’m going to try the nail polish on the tyres hope it will take the fear out of the process as normal tyre glue is just to quick for my liking 👍🏻🏁

    Hi John, can you tell me please how you did break in you tire razor motor? I just bought one. I miss seeing and watching your videos, when is the next one coming? Did you ever finish your track? lights, landscape, etc. Ron

      Break in of the motor... run at low voltage (3v or so) for 30 minutes or so. Spray with plastic safe electrical cleaner, let dry, oil.
      New videos coming... been very busy!! Next video is the pit building series!
      Thanks!!

    Great tips, really useful as just getting my tyre eraser! Don’t know why Carrera mould their wheel hubs with those scallops moulded in them, makes for a lot of work!👍🇦🇺😎

      Not a fan of the scallops either, but easy to fill with thick CA and some kicker. Love my Tire Razor!! I will be automating the sanding plate soon as well, so I can do other things while the machine does its work. I will post a video on that as I do it.😉

    Hi John, sorry to bother but I was just going to order one of these and they are no longer available at Carrera. I search online nothing came up. Many thx sir....

      Hi. Yes, they have become hard to find. It seems the guy making them had covid, and doubted he would continue making them.
      I have been looking for another truer myself (just for fun) besides the Hudy truer, and hopefully a suitable replacement can be found.
      Please let me know if you come across anything...
      Keep your eyes out on CincySlots. I've seen a couple used units on sale there from time to time.

      @@slotcarmayhem9765 Sounds good John, I will keep you posted. I did reach out to cincy, and he said they no longer had them and that the add I read was old. I've looked a hurry expensive and not what I'd like to have. The razor really looks great, from watching your video.....too bad

    John, I have been using the gel CA glue for filling the scallops on the carrera rims as you stated here. Can you give some tips on applying the glue to the rims? my problem is I try using the glue sparingly, but once dried it ends up too much, requiring a lot of sanding, which takes forever with the tire razor. Can you provide tips on getting the right amount of glue the first time around on the rims? Also, I have had some difficulty in keeping the axel to stay on the razor while truing the rims; not applying too many turns of the adjusting knob.

    • @slotcarmayhem9765
      @slotcarmayhem9765  2 роки тому

      You can use a file to help reduce the CA before putting the axle in the razor... just remember to leave the CA proud of the wheel. As for the axle not staying in place, make sure the belt is running true (not side loading either bushing). You can also try reversing the + and - leads on the motor to change direction. Also, don't let the end of the sanding bar lose contact to the wheel/tire. Some part of the sanding bar should constantly be in contact. Hope this helps!!

    • @19Zeek56
      @19Zeek56 2 роки тому

      I will definitely use a file first now. Yes, very helpful for keeping the axel in place. I also realized that I was putting too much pressure on the tire causing it to jump on the block knocking the axle off. Thanks John !!

      Max clearance (height set to max) 9/16" to sanding plate. 1.0" to bed of channel if you wish to use something else for a sanding plate. That equates to any tire diameter smaller than 1-1/16" can be used with the factory sanding plate. Larger tire requires a thinner plate, max tire diameter is 1-15/16".

    John, what is the height of your track from the floor? Thanks in advance.

    • @slotcarmayhem9765
      @slotcarmayhem9765  3 роки тому

      Hi Jim, nominal height is 39.5 above floor. That is along the front straight, where (most) drivers stand. Track height varies under and over bridge section.
      I am over 6' as are the majority of drivers. Comfortable to stand or on a barstool for some of our older drivers.
      Younger drivers can use a platform if needed.
