    Wow 330 pounds that's just insane man,I think I'd have alot of trouble getting 200 off the ground and I have at least 9.5 years of weightlifting experience.

    I have some experience with sandbags, which I like a lot. Still need to try some stones. You have some 'real' strength no doubt.

    If the biceps are getting sore you're missing an element to the lift. Scapular retraction is key. it will remove that tension.

    Those are massive tests of strength,cause of the awkwardness of the weight being moved,most people would give up before getting it off the ground,if they could even get it off the ground.

    Love this. Is there any concern of your knees seeing damage due to the heavy weight being sat on your lap so often?

    • @LairdRoss
      @LairdRoss  5 місяців тому +7

      No mate not at all. When you sprint you put more force through the feet and knees. Running on concrete / road is more damaging. You also need to remember that this is 2 x week and for a few sets. Most people who run run each each day and for a decent distance.

    I'm pretty out of shape right now, I'm just getting back into training after about a 6-year hiatus, and have decided to focus primarily on lifting odd objects and doing calisthenics. So far all I have is a set of gymnastics rings and a sandbag. I am looking to get a natural stone soon, but also considering maybe just getting a heavier sandbag. What would you say are the benefits and drawbacks of stones versus sandbags. Especially for someone who is still not very strong and very new to this.

      I would get both mate. Go to a landscaping place and you will get heaps for a very minimal cost

    • @ezradanger
      @ezradanger Місяць тому +1

      @@LairdRoss All right, I have a friend with the landscaping company so I'm going to give him a call and see what he can do for me for some stones. I'm excited to see what the difference between them and sandbags is. I'm sure it's one of those things that's hard to describe, but you can just feel it when you actually do it.

    Stone lifting is great, really engaging! (specially if you have as much strenght as you do, which allows you to pretty much lift any stone 🤯)
    Quick question: Do you get bruises or cuts everytime you lift natural stones or only sometimes?

    • @LairdRoss
      @LairdRoss  5 місяців тому +2

      Most the time I get a few small ones. The skin gets use to it and you end up with far less compared to when you first start.

    how would you get into lifting stones if you live in a city/apartment complex? Also how much weightlifting experience would you recommend before tryna start w stones?

    Nice video! How do you compare lifting natural stones to atlas stones, in terms of stone weight? I assume holding a natural odd shaped natural stone is "easier" than a spherical atlas stone, but also the uneveness of the natural stone complicates balance. Tks!

    • @LairdRoss
      @LairdRoss  5 місяців тому +1

      If I was to use tacky then lifting Atlas stones is far far easier

    What weight would you recommend for a beginner to start with?
    I’m thinking of trying to make my own atlas stones out of concrete or the rectangle ones like you have.
    I’m about 185lbs, 6 feet tall. And have been lifting for about ten years. I don’t usually lift super heavy though. I usually keep my lifts in the 10 rep range.

    . I’ve been doing uphill Carrie’s with stones I find at the park. They’re about 30 lbs. Should I keep my breathing the same as I would if I were to do a clean&jerk? To protect my spine?
