  • When it comes to owning our space, sometimes we may find ourselves shrinking back. Maybe it’s because we fear failing and being hurt, we lack bravery, or are too comfortable.
On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes we can swell within our space. We find ourselves stepping over the lines of our space and into the sphere of someone else’s.
Think about it this way: you show up to a theater to watch a play. The seats are assigned and you sit in the wrong seat. Not only are you taking up someone else’s space, but you are missing out on your own space. Sound familiar?
Knowing who you are, who you are not, where you start, and where you end is incredibly powerful when it comes to discovering (and living out) your God-given purpose.
Let us encourage you: You don’t need to be the one that fills all the spaces. You just need to fill your own space, well.
In this episode, you will hear Candace and Heather discuss:
Taking up space that belongs to someone else; what that means and why it is important that we should be aware of it
Knowing who you are, who you are not, where you start and where you end (self-differentiating, which can be really hard to do!)
What the hula-hoop space is and how understanding your circle, and the circle of others, will you own your space well
How shrinking back relates to growth and stretching

The story about the pastor traveling helped me so much. I'm learning Spanish right now so that I can share the gospel in two languages. I'm often not sharing that with others because I feel they will judge me.

I agree that almost all the time we need to give advice when asked. Way way way too many people give unsolicited advice

I need some.advixe. I am a Christian a mom of 3 grown children in their 30s . They have walked away from their faith. They always seem to make me feel uncomfortable about my faith. I shrink away from being proactive with my scriptures and being vocal because I'm afraid they will keep my grand children from me. How can I find my God give. Space and not be afraid

That's so hard, and I pray that you'll find that balance. There are safe groups online that you may be able to join with others in a similar situation.❤

....but when you post on a public domain, people are going to give THEIR opinion. I'm hearing excuses, on this broadcast, and that's sad. Accountability or lack thereof, is truly missing is the world and from the Christian community.
