Loved the video and this helped a lot I’m 14 and trying to figure new a better ways on how to catch fish out of the Ohio river thanks for explains what you were doing and how to do it
We caught a 25in striper, 25lb blue cat and two channels the other night on cut shad (down near Cincinnati) The striper took off running 3x, especially when I got him close to the boat. They fight like hell. Going to Cumberland for the big ones soon. The Ohio river is always fun to fish. Sauger season starts soon too on the river!
I actually landed a 59lb flathead in that second gate September 2022. I know all about that snag out there as well. I've had flats run me into it as well as wipers.
Something that might help y’all is circle hooks if you don’t already. We use big circle hooks and 17lb test when fishing for cats. They hook themselves and they do not come off. You actually need needle nose to get the hook out usually. They work great.
We've experimented with circle hooks and j hooks, both work but the tough part about using a circle hook there is having to leave the drag engaged so that they hook themselves when they tighten the line up. Hard to secure the rod for that.
I am too paranoid about falling over that thin wire into the river to fish this spot. My late father use to fish it while walked up stream about 100 yards.
Funny to hear people talking about "catch and release" and cracking jokes about how they didn't kill the fish after we just watched them let fish flop around on concrete. Feel free to do some research on mortality rates for fish that people placed on boat carpet, grass, sand or basically any dry surface lmao last time I checked your not even supposed to touch a fish with dry hands .....but yeah keep up the good work 😂
Awesome day of fishing! Some of my all-time favorite species. Thx for the tips, too. Your narration was instructive!
I'm liking these videos, not a lot of talking and straight to the action. Keep it up
Apartment living no boat or kayak so bank fishing is more fun any ways. Love bank fishing the Ohio River.
That looks like so much fun. Great spot with multi species in the buckeye. Totally epic video.
Geez yall caught like all of my favorite species. Sick video!
I love fishing the Newcumberland damn.
Nice man! That spot never fails to produce.
I don't know why people enjoy fishing these community holes.....like shooting fish in a barrel.....no skill
Great time boys
Good job

What part of the ohio river in Cincinnati was it the serpentine wall
@@devinjennings4791 No, about 5 or 6 miles down river from there though

Cool video and good commentating. Nice instructions. I just subscribed.
Thanks! I like to explain what's going on
Hard to beat those hybrids and white bass. They really pull. Great vids. New sub.
Planning to go back this fall and get some more multispecies action going
@@nolanminor6761 right on! I should be getting into quite a few good ones in the next month or two. Videos will on my channel. Have a look!

Growing up along the Ohio River, multi-species fishing meant we caught carp AND catfish!
Cool. Funny how u need to get right against the lock there. I'd like to see sauger numbers come back like they were 20 yrs ago.
Definitely no shortage of sauger currently
Where exactly is this; or is it a secret?
The small flat heads are excellent table fare. Just don’t eat too many out of the Ohio River. Maybe one or two meals a year.
Where’s this dam at live in Ohio always wanted to fish the river but don’t know where to go? Enjoyed the video!
What dam is that ??
Not to give the spot away (I know where it is) but where can you park to get back there?
Is this in ohio
i was wondering the same thing
Name of dam?

Apparently the WV side of these locks are wayy better than the OH side
My buddy crushes fish on the Ohio side. Rivers are all about timing and knowing the conditions.
@@nolanminor6761location on ohio side
Fished that damn a few times..
isnt this damn in Kentucky?
Nice video. I fish Meldahl dam on the Ohio for stripes. What dam are you on if I may?
New Cumberland Locks and Dam, Ohio/WV border, Stratton, Ohio
Y’all sure do throw a lot of good eating back!
Which dam are you fishing
