RIP Rod Roddy too. Elizabeth Banks from what I've seen is doing a decent job, did her homework and while she obviously inspired by Peter Tomarken she knows she can never replace him and doesn't try. opting to make her role as host her own. Drew Carey for example, would be the first to tell you he's not Bob Barker and doesn't try to be, opting to host TPIR his way and make the show his own, just as Bob Barker himself did when he took over TPIR from the late Bill Cullen. Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik are doing the same for Jeopardy! Both would tell you they aren't Alex Trebek, never could be and don't try to be. They host in their own respective ways.
And another one gone and another one gone Another one bites the dust Hey I'm gonna get you too Another one bites the dust - Queen - Another One Bites the Dust, 1980. Big hit song from their album "The Game".
Do you know what's weird about the dancing Whammy at around 8:50? Nancy was actually dancing with him. She didn't really care about the fact that she was losing money again for the second time in the game.
I didn't know that if all 3 players had $0, they all came back on the next show. On Jeopardy, if everyone has $0, they all leave, and they can't come back.
Of course in that UA-cam link in the comments, Robert's $30,518 was NOT the most money lost to a whammy. That infamous honor goes to Cathy during the most heated one-spin battle back and forth between Cathy/Lori. Lori would eventually win the game, but Cathy lost $31,408! That's $890 more than Robert's total. The only difference is that Robert's spin decided the game, it was the last spin of the game. Cathy's spin was in the middle of the second round, because the third contestant was watching the spectacle since he won the most in the first round and had spins in the earned and passed columns. Just before Cathy hit that whammy, the total combined between those two contestants totaled just over $50,000! Before Kate hit the whammy that breakdanced away with her $19,050 she and Robert had a combined $49,568 plus the third contestants $6860 equaled $56,428. Kate played it perfectly, barely was in second place and she wins by $140.
Actually, according to Todd Hunter, Trish (from #573-#575, who later returned in June 1986 due to a technical problem) claimed to have lost $35,000 (the largest Whammy loss in the original version) to the Photographer Whammy after she hit Double Your Money and a Spin.
About 95% of the original show is better than the new ABC version. The original Big Board is still far superior and way better looking than the cheap CGI design of the new one. The only thing from the new show that I personally would like to have seen is Peter Tomarken with a background like the one Banks has. Or something a bit more similar to the original.
@@oDGuardian - I respectfully disagree. I think both versions are great in different ways. The original board was very creative for its time, but the problem is that the slides they used on the board tended to fade, especially on the Round 2 board. With a CGI board, you won't get faded slides, meaning the board will always look fresh and vibrant. The Whammies are also funny both in the original and new versions, and the new ones on ABC are more relatable in their references than the older ones.
And the funny part is that the $30,000 one isn't even the biggest whammy ever. Before Press Your Luck '19, it was this: ua-cam.com/video/0RM4cbC8Ti0/v-deo.html
Give PAUL a GOLDEN SOMBRERO for getting 4 WHAMMIES in a row!! LISA lost the game by choosing the $2250 instead of the WATER BIKE. The WATER BIKE would’ve won her the game. NANCY is the 4th player to get all 12 spins going into the last round and LOST the game!!
You know its bad when Peter is leaning over his podium at 10:19 looking like someone kicked him in the family jewels.
Love Peter's reaction to the last one. Classic Tomarken right there. RIP Peter.
gokaury when you hit a Whammy with over $30k and it’s on that passed spin, what can you do?

Up and died right there on the set!
"All I hear is 'Big bucks, big bucks'; I've got your 'BIG BUCK'!" 🤣
The whammy wears a cape and pretends he's a hero but he'll take your total down to zero
I have three words for this: OUCH and WOW!
Great collection! Although I'm surprised the epic spin battle, from 1984, wasn't included.
That deserves a clip all of it's own
MMMMM MMMMM!!!! Stoooooooop at a whammy!!! LOL RIP Peter Tomarken & Rod Roddy.
6:12 Do do do do do. ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST. Should’ve made that deal with Lisa and the Whammy Busters earlier to avoid that Whammy wipeout there.
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust -
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust, 1980. Big hit song from their album "The Game".
@@tyrese3745 if memory serves me right that song and Crazy Little Thing Called Love were the 2 #1 singles from that album.
8:05 One Tarzan Whammy....(OOF!) AND ONE PISSED OFF ELEPHANT.
Can you imagine having $30,000 wiped out just like that?
With the current version, try $50K or more!
@Michael Bullington Yeah, last week's episode was a heartbreaker in that regard.
10:08 talk about unforeseen financial disaster there. Holy mother of God!!
Oh my that's painful
Inflation-adjusted that's a big chunk of money.
My favorite Whammy is the ship sailing away and him waving goodbye.
Kate's a real gamer!
Do you know what's weird about the dancing Whammy at around 8:50? Nancy was actually dancing with him. She didn't really care about the fact that she was losing money again for the second time in the game.
Hey, Michael Jackson does that to you.
@@christophercotton9048 Facts on Facts!
I love the three way ties at zero.
_And the next episode..._
Peter: “Welcome to... *The Twilight Zone. Deja-vu.* _Press your Luck?”_
(He actually said that at the start of the show)
So all 3 won and no one won the money?
That's only happened a handful of times.
12:53 we'll tell you what all you have won just as soon as we get some smelling salts 🧂 to revive Peter.
And I'm like, "d'oh!"
I didn't know that if all 3 players had $0, they all came back on the next show. On Jeopardy, if everyone has $0, they all leave, and they can't come back.
Not sure if it was a feature or a bug, but it does make for greater strategy as shown here (i.e., a last chance to try to become a winner).
As long as they don't hit 4 of them.
@@MetalSmasherGaming "Four Whammies puts you out of the game."
Without that rule, there would be no incentive to whammy the last player. It's a good rule in this game.
10:45 Oohhhh!!! I hope you didn't black out half of the Fairfax-Beverly Grove district there along with nearby WeHo City Whammy.
8:35 Wow, tough crowd there at that Texas honky-tonk!
I love those little Whammies!
I know, right? They are sooooo cute. I wish I could pick them up and cuddle them.
3:02 Cue The Price is Right Losing Horns sound
After watching the Michael Larson special, I can always see the patterns the board went and I catch myself following the light trial also.
6:12 OH NO!! Do do do do do, Another one bites the dust. Do do do Another one bites the dust!
Would Ms. Banks do a faint?
