Been playing off and on since 2012, and started back recently after a 2 1/2 year break. I was actually shocked to find out that I could actually play for free and still access all content, all in-game cash, no more equipment repair, and the ability to replay all but the latest 3 dlcs on-duty content without replay badges. I also like the new look of the on-duty menu , and daily rewards.
Yeah they got a new studio and has been really increasing the quality of life with the game! Sadly the old character customization has been changed but eh a small price to pay.
It’s only a scam if you have no self control. From the beginning I’ve only paid for subscriptions and my main’s CR is 429 and SP is like 640-odd. How? Grinding. I didn’t spend money to get it immediately. I didn’t let greed and the fear that someone might get it first effect my judgement. I played the game. If people would stop focusing on dropping as much money as possible to get everything within the first month the content comes out then maybe you’d enjoy the game and not see it as a scam. Things are actually much better now than they were when you first started. Free players have full access to their in-game cash, the ability to play all in-game content that gives source marks and matches their level, the ability to do all except the most recent queues without replay badges, gear no longer needs to be repaired. Are there flaws? Of course. Does the business end of the video game sometimes take advantage of the whales with no self control? Sure, it’s a business and all businesses do that. But me and my friends that still play it, still love it, and are still in our league are here for the fun. Not to be overpowered gods that throw away real life money on a game. An annual subscription payment and we are good. Your video should be trying to teach people that it is possible to play the game without having your card in your hand. Also, the reason pvp is so broken and dead is because of the emo idiots that take it too seriously. I’d say the hackers but we both know that’s not what has broken pvp. What broke pvp is what used to be friendly competition in the ‘10s has now in the ‘20s turned into people spamming chat crying about how they lost and sending hateful messages to the people that beat them and even sending tells. Sure there’s no profit in fixing pvp but even if it did get fixed there are more people than you might think who will never return to pvp because of the toxic players. It’s not the devs that ruined pvp, it’s the players.
It was the old devs that ruined pvp. One of them after getting fired, hauled ass with codes keeping it in a state of limbo like it is. This is the story barely told. So, the new devs have no idea what to do with it except leave it for those who still want to play around with pvp.
As someone who started playing DCUO only a few months ago, it's interesting to see a veterans take on the game. Can't say that I did not invest any money into the game, I really wanted to be a green lantern, so I got myself some ingame currency and the superpower, but except that I did actually pay nothing and i'm having fun playing this game. But that is propably not because of the game, but because I've started to play it with a bunch of friends. We play small sessions byweekly, so we had our time to slowly get to level 30 and enjoy the storylines until then. After level 30 the grind really started for us and we are already debating about when we will stop playing. I'd say it's a fun game concept and when you have some friends who like to play old MMOs together, it is a game you might wanna try, but really getting into it and paying money on a regular basis seems like something you should avoid at all cost.
I've been off an on since this game was released. I've bought some powers and some items even had a membership a couple of times. Recently, I started playing again but quickly got bored bc of loot locks.found myself realizing why this game wasn't fun anymore. It's just not worth the wait to grind for simple items that should allow you to get normally anymore without having to buy replay tokens. There's nobody to fight bosses in most places except for the 2 most recent events. Find yourself being left out of events bc of tokens. it's just sad now. Play from lvl 1-30 and leveling up will always be fun, but that feeling dies after lvl30
I'd heard this game was not worth playing during release, but I'm sad to hear it never got better. Revoking lifetime subscriptions for inactivity is incredibly bad behavior for any game, and should be a bigger scandal in the gaming community.
Letting inactive players keep their lifetime subscription would be stupid for any business that hands out monthly rewards to subscribers. Because the monthly rewards are trade-able.
the point of a lifetime subscription is that its never expires dont care if it s a game or software removing/suspending people from stuff they pay for under the assumptions thell always have access to it should be an illegal practices regardless @@dependentmany8359
Still play this game to this day love it like hell I’ve always been free to play here and still get what I need to be op 👌 I don’t have a problem with this game
yeah, I just return to DCUO a last week after a long break, it is still a fun game, out dated but still fun. plus what game allow you join the DC universe? DCUO is basically my on and off game.
Agreed, I remember when Wave came out, people could solo it now lol but back then man oh man was it fun, crazy difficult, good fun. Thanks for the comment Dantel stay well 👾
DCUO will never take the place of; and is a pale comparison to COH and COV. That game was the OG and set a standard that no other Superhero game has ever even come close to during it's peak.
@@STARLEYMAYHEM if a game is enough to give you depression that could just be a personal problem lol the only thing it’ll scam you out of is time maybe but then again it can be fun if your into the whole superhero/ villain thing. Personally I only like the intro to this game it still looks badass to this day.
I've played this game since launch but got tired of paying for a sub cus I wasn't always on. So what I did over time is buy the essential items needed to make the game playable. In the past 5 years, I've spent maybe 20 bucks on the game. I'm mostly in it for the cosplay aspect and could care less about having everything available
Why when show price for monthly subs you do not show how much for 1 month ? i pay maybe 17$ for 1 month and get 500 free cash for market plus monthly daily reward and the 21th day reward seem pretty cheap side of other game for what you get and the stabilizer daily is back so i open a capsule each 2 day without paying more than the monthly subs
@@zShadowx07 In all honesty, that kind of makes it worse. This is an MMO - so it's pretty standard to have a subscription, or subscription based payment methods. GTA isn't - even the online mode is largely CO-OP with a few other players in the world. GTA's payment model is EGREGIOUS by comparison and IMO far, far worse. Neither are good, but for what it is and what you get/do, GTA is an absolute rip-off.
I have been free to play from the start and I have so many accounts I have to write them down to remember all of them. The most I ever paid in this game is the 30 something bucks for the powers pack (which only works on one account to my dismay) and that was through my steam account which is money I got from gift cards. You can spend just five bucks and you can get 6 character slots and access to all your in-game money instead the $50,000 cap. We also have easier access to styles that you had to buy in boxes at the Doctor Fate vender as well as others in the House of Legends. PvP was never my thing, as long as they come out with gear styles, I will just keep making new characters which always keeps me busy. You complained about the graphics, but the game always runs smooth for me, and I know I probably couldn't run a higher graphic intensive game on my PC. I don't play this game for the money or how strong I can get; I play it because I enjoy flying over the cities and just being a hero.
Other than the great points you covered, one of the main reasons why I’ll never come back to DCUO is because the game is extremely Anti New Player/Returning player friendly. Getting to level 30 is still fun but once you hit that mark you’re stuck with playing old episodes that no one plays anymore. Random queues have no one and your only chance of getting skill points and progressing through all episodes naturally is if you have a stable group of friends willing to help you out. If you’re by yourself it’s game over.
Exactly this. I almost tried returning but watched this video before I joined back. I've "returned" to the game a few times but it was just too difficult and too expensive to get back into as absolutely no one plays the old raids, let alone any of the old content. The player base is already dying extremely quickly, and only people who have sunk hours into the game are still playing. They have no care for updating the game, only squeezing cash out of their players. Just disgusting.
@@Official_Rzjust squeezeing out cash? You do realize that the dlc weapons/episodes/powers/movement and more has been put into f2p? Also the cash limit is gone
One of the biggest scams is powers and artifacts, certain powers are so strong they will dominate without fully ranked artifacts so everyone who isnt said powers is wasting money and time trying to figure a way to get stronger. Switch powers i recently switch to celestial on a 409 toon and had 2 160 arts and a 200 eog , i beat and kept up with 430crs with ease.
I was running my damage toon to be a fire dps focused on might. I have a120 and a pair of 100 artifacts on, only about 120 skill points. I decided I wanted him to change to munitions. I went from a mid tier dps to being top 3 every single raid. It's actually insane.
Not saying you're entirely wrong but free to play gadgets+superspeed+brawling is top meta dps for i dont even know how long now. Electric power is also meta but i dont see a reason to pay jist for that.
The meta is always changing. Your best bet is to stick with one style and power. That way when your power is the new “IT” power you’ll be way ahead of the game. Even if you’re aren’t using the top power that way you can keep up. Plus the other roles are more fun. Most of the toxicity come from whiny dps’s when they don’t make top dps.
You know what, maybe I'm the only one, but I look in this game in different perspective. I don't waste money, I literally do free to play, that means, I don't pay anything, but upgrade my character slowly and patently because in that way the game for me is so satisfying if that make any sense😅for example I have a goal to get more nth metal to charge one level of artifact, that means I use nth detector that I get free and I play the game as much as I want everyday, no need lots of hours, just 1 hour that's all and then when I get all the nth metal, then I waiting to get more Source Marks for the catalyst and then the soul of preservation and when I'm done with all of that I feel satisfied I completed my goal. If you believe me or not, if I pay to upgrade my artifacts, I will feel disappointed with myself and will become instantly boring, honestly maybe this is just me, but depends of how you look into this game and maybe its a good thing to practice your patience... Just like the name Daybreak says, I using that name for my purpose in this game😂Before this daily rewards this was a problem you are right, that time you had no choice but to buy Seal of Complition, but now I love this. I mean do you know how is the feeling in the end to find out that you played this game half a year and you fulfilled your goals😂
@@Nightoyl yeah, sometimes people don't know how to play games, the games are build to have challenges and opstacles, that's the beauty of it and not to make it easier for you, because if it gets easier, then the game is not fun anymore, I mean you can buy all of your arts and augments and you will find in the end that the game is not challenging enough, that how you get bored. I love to play this game as i playing it now, its very satisfying, that's why I love this game now. Just change the perspective of playing that's all, you can make it to be fun
@@gorans007 i enjoyed fighting the region bosses? Like fun house and them. Skipping gets very boring, so instead of rushing to end game im going to do the lvl 20 - 40 co-op mission and uhmm the side quest for marks so i can get the base stuff i think im not entirely sure if i want to but will see
@@NMSTravelerhuh, you're the guy trying to trick people into watching your videos by purposefully misleading them. So, your opinion on what makes the internet a worse place is as meaningless as your content. =P
I've spent thousands $$$ on this game sadly. You're right I was only holding on for the amount of money I have spent over the years. I deleted the game 1 month ago finally! Since then I have explored other games I have been missing out on. I Think Helldivers 2 helped me snap out of the DCUO cycle.
I only payed $30 on my account for an ability and some cool armor... immediately when new years was happening and an event came around I was in a place ive never been before. My game crashed and even when maintainence was done I couldnt join back. Game wouldnt start. I stopped trying because, as a kid I had multiple emails on it for security since 2fa apps didnt exist yet... the customer service legit thought I was a phisher and never picked up my case again. I never forgot this and ive been calling them out ever since. Its even worse that Ive tried making another account with a new email on a new device and I still cant get in the game. it wont start... its weird...
You can play everything for free and still get strong. It’s only pay to win if you decide to pay for it lol. Also you get trinkets for free sooo what are you on about lol and nothing gets “rebuked” for no activity on the account I sometime take year long breaks and come back and everything still there
Only thing I ever bought for this game is the power bundle besides that fact I think it's a great MMO especially with all the episodes free I nerd out every time I play this game, I just love the idea of creating my own character and taking on missions from the justice league. The graphics aren't the best, but I love the art style and design of the world. I can see why it'd be frustrating if you spent a lot of money on this game only for them to cancel your subscription, but I've been playing this game for years and haven't even thought about buying one, but idk I'm a simple man to please give me a story with decent combat and I'll be singing your praises.
Games aren't supposed to be free, all free to play games have other forms of monetization, your food isn't free, your internet isn't free someone paid for you to go to college, if you need to be a superpowered endgame pro elite as strong as the veteran flexxers then this video is somewhat true. I don't think that applies to most people who would enjoy this game, just about 5% who need to feel elite, also you freely admitted at several points that most of the gear can be earned in pvp. Yearly daybreak pass easily worth it
"Games aren't supposed to be free, " It wasn't free, i like many people purchased it at full retail price when it first came out, long before it went free to play.
@@passman36 I played DCUO back around the time it first launched. It is *most certainly* more convenient to play as a F2P player now than it was before.
After watching your video I can honestly say your feelings on this game is valid. I've been on this game since day one and I actually stopped play for about 2 years before I came back in. The reason I came back is the fact there is no other Super Hero MMO out there on console. I love this style of game and there is non like it currently. My league is for the most part dead with a few only active like myself. They feel the same as your about the game. This is a great video expressing what you think of the current state of the game and I'm sure there are many people who fell the same. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother appreciate your words, hopefully one day if they make it a bit cheaper I'll return but for now it doesn't make sense for me, it's unfortunate because I truly love the game just not the direction the devs took it, they definitely need to stop squeezing folks for money and add some major quality updates, I'll be watching the game closely hopefully some good news will come about soon. Take care brother!
this dude has a personal beef, cas ive been playing day1, and felt no need to spend thousands, you can go away for long periods of time and fit rite back in.
I must agree. Ive been playing DCUO since beta. It used to be a game where ppl helped one another. You had your occasional troll but maybe once a day. Now no one uses mics, they all are toxic and use the chat for insults and weird sexual comments. I wish Mepps would go bye bye because he doesn't ever listen to players advice. And last, I have invested thousands into one toon.
I hear ya man, took me ten years to walk away was a very hard decision, I still talk with the friends I made and come to think about it they were the best part but eventually more and more left and I finally had enough with the price gouging and community, I dumped quite a bit of money into my Toon myself, if they ever charge a reasonable monthly subscription I might consider coming back but there's a lot of games out there worth looking into, stay well Dungeon 👾
So basically, you're saying that a 14 yo game is a scam by just describing every MMO playable on earth ? 😂 DCUO can also be : - an old game still updated nowadays - a very involved community - a very satisfying univers to evolve in - a very good character design game (considering you can reproduce almost any character you want) - a very complete RPG with a good DPS/healers/tank/controller logic Of course it has its drawbacks, but devs need to eat too, and at some point they have to put something to make players pay ! And every mmorps have a bad side. The main argument against MMORPG is actually "Time consuming" DCUO is not an exception. Do not pay a MMORPG if you don't wanna spend some time on it... it's as dumb as saying marathon is bad because it's exhausting ! OF COURSE it is ! Remember it's a F2P ! And NOT a P2W ! I would say it's mostly a Pay To Fast ! Let's look at warframe and how LONG it is to farm ! Or even Black Desert Online ! DCUO has nothing to be ashamed of against these games, except the graphisms, of course... a new version with better graphisms would be lit ngl ! I would say, if you feel like this game can be funny to try, you should defenitely try it ! You can start totally free and play hundreds of hours without spending any money ! You have to play this game knowing it's old and just play to have fun. You won't regret having a go on DCUO, never have a good one boys See you on the other side
It was hard for me to stop playing because of the money spent, but once people realize that they don't own a damn thing in the game and wake up it's easier to see what it's for.
I’m no lawyer, but I’m pretty sure making a defamatory statement in writing or verbally claiming some fraud or situation that really can’t be proven especially something so arbitrary as this is a scam is sufficient to sue you for a gigantic of money
Except that will never happen because if they did sue that would open up the company to discovery, which would then inevitably show the game to be nothing more than a money making scam.
I guess the whole problem comes from the fact, that MMOs like DCUO can't stay active without funding and the publishers will shut it down if the game doesn't generate enough profit. The concept is nice and even though there are better games out there. There are no games like this. DCUO is still alive and the only way at the moment to play as a DC super hero in an open world with more or less a lot of content. A lot of the stuff is based around using real life money to unlock stuff and it's always the easier way than playing. I just came back and found out they made the stabilizer solo daily for the whole account. Stabilizer solo give stabilizer fragments, which can be used to unlock "lootboxes" that most of the time give quite cool styles/materials etc. , and the last time I played, you could do this stabilizer solo with every character that had the level to do it. But of course, since those "lootboxes" can be opened with real life money, too, they had to remove a feature that gave you an option to open them for free. Also they added emotes, that look really weird. On the one hand I don't want this game to die, because it leaves a hole, like Marvel Heroes did (btw, a team of modders is reviving Marvel Heroes) , and on the other hand I really won't play the game if it becomes a pure cash grab.
Dude. I played this game for about 8 years, and the worst part of it is definitely the community. I completely agree with you on that. Really turns away new players, cause they’re always called “trash”. Like bro… 😂
the community is the worst, either shouting biden or trump, yelling each other like boomers turnout those people are actually boomers. self congratulations, self wishing birthday with alts accounts are crazy people.
I had lots of fun with this game years ago. I especially liked it with friends. It’s not a scam lol. I ended but buying a move set for like $5 but besides that I didn’t buy anything but the game itself isn’t worth paying for. It’s just dumb fun.
I just play it casually on the couch just doing pve missions. I paid for dlc 10 years ago for 10 bucks so I have the green lantern and electricity powers. That's all I ever purchased. I may buy 10 bucks worth of game cash to buy skimming or a power and open a few capsules but that's all I'm gonna spend and that's if I end up enjoying the game later on.
I used to play this game back in vanilla in 2011-2014 as a villain Frost brawler with Joker as a mentor...Amazing times and amazing beef moments with the heroes. Nostalgia is killing my soul the last fews years... Vanilla wow 2004, Linage 2 2003, warhammer online 2008 and DC 2011
That means you have the patience of a saint! I'd definitely start playing again if they overhauled the graphics, that and the pay to play stuff doesn't sit well with me but hey if you like it keep on truckin brother
I've had every issue there was patched on my end, professional communication with the Devs and Producers back at the Big House actually will do stuff for you even send a graphics card if you're nice enough to them and allow them to work on the stuff while connected on the phone still
The graphics are "Truly Nothing Special" he says, and yet They look 5 times better then half the games on the market. So apparently someone either has weird tastes in graphics, or his video card needs looked at.
I just started playing a couple of days ago.... nine hours so far and I've noticed the toxic horse shit in chat. I'm thankful for this exposure. Toxic people in a gaming frenzy can go eat my ass..... by me not playing lol. Thanks for the details. You saved me some time!
How many times have you read the N word on that game or anti white rants or loud music in voice chat and getting skill points by buying stuff. No thanks
I've been playing since Year 1. I don't know how much more time I have with this game. At the very least, I'll play the hell out of it, then take a break for 2-3 weeks. It's all gotten so repetitive. Also, yes, the artifacts are ridiculous. It's easily the worst thing about the game. Allies are kind of the same concept, but not nearly as bad. People have been calling for a sequel for some time, and I would like to see a revamped ally system as well-perhaps something like Neverwinter, where they're always there, following you around...? Anyway, at this point, I can't blame anyone who dumps it...I wouldn't be surprised if it gets shut down next week!
Speaking the Truth, for endgamers like i was back in 2018 who wanted to be top dogs its an endless loop of spending. Got almost a full set of OP gear thats crap today left me at lvl 205. Went to the city of heroes mmo homecoming.
I have around 860sp and I haven’t spent money out of pocket. I’ve played for free by grinding and you don’t need to play end game or elite to have fun. It doesn’t take anywhere near as long as it used to to get leveled up. It’s a great game for free to play and no idea what your problem is but obviously there’s something you’re not telling us.
"and you don’t need to play end game or elite to have fun." Which is just anopther way of saying "once you get to end game, stop playing, because you eithier pay to win, or don't play at all, because playing end game without paying is no fun."
I’ve played almost 3000 of this game. Maybe more being I played this on 3 different consoles. Be careful, you can have tons of fun, but your first dollar will likely not be your last
It's a game. Free games must make money somehow. You cannot blame game developers if you are an idiot who will spend thousands of dollars on a video game. I've played on and off for 2,3 years, and never spent a penny because it is a C+ game at best. It's just worthy of killing time but not investment. In all aspects of life, there is someone or some company waiting to take your money if you are willing to give it not just game developers. So you should apply his advice to everything you do not just DCUO.
You didn't stick around long enough to experience the lag and constant Ching of reset, it's like they don't want us to play DC, I became addicted to DCUO 3 weeks into playing 13 years later
It is a free game to play. However, just like in real life, if you wanna keep up with the Jone’s, you’ll need to accumulate debt. Easy fix, don’t try to keep up.
Pay 2 Win , no content , no freedom of speech on forum or streams. PvP wrecked. But if you like to dress all day & spend tons of money, this is your game 👍
Bro, 100% I bought this game when it was initially released. I got the collectors edition with the Batman statue and then they made it free to play. I got like three free months of whatever subscription service they were offering and then that’s it. This game became paid to win and I honestly wish I just got a complete refund for this game.
I actually love the graphics in this game. It's very colorful, like a comic book. It's one of the things that attracted me to the game. Lots and lots of colors, very pleasing to the eye.
I'm basically hearing 1. The graphics are bad (10+ yr old game so of course, second best argument) 2. You can buy cosmetics (you feeling compelled to buy them because they're in fashion is your problem) 3. Some powers/weapon types require purchases to unlock (Fair point, best argument) 4. If you're impatient and have money to burn then there's a fast pass option (Learn to be more patient) I'd say it's time for a DCUO 2 but change the planetary threat and give it a new story, new graphics, getting to test powers and weapons before unlocking or buying them, better/more powers and mobility options and simplifying the grind. It's been ten plus years, DC can do better.
"4. If you're impatient and have money to burn then there's a fast pass option (Learn to be more patient)" Then you will be at a perpetual disadvantage during the early game as you are competing against people who spent cash money to buy mechanical advantage. And in the end game, you might as well just quit playing because playing end game without spending cash money is like an exercise in time wasting & futility.
@@matthewlane The only disadvantage I've experienced/heard of was an end game problem where investing in expansions are kinda necessary to get your gear level higher. Early game I don't feel at disadvantage at all, even using stock powers. I usually do better than other players around me. I also can't stick with a character long enough to get it to lvl 30 because I'm a bundle of ADD and hyper fixating on character concepts and builds.
@@TheCryptidBun "Early game I don't feel at disadvantage at all" How you feel is immaterial. You are objectively at a disadvantage if you are going F2P. Literally every single mechanical advantage is locked behind a paywall. From the stabilisers needed to literally unlock time capsules, to the utility belt, to the cash cap-limit, just to name a few. The fact is that F2P players are at a severe disadvantage compared to those paying for mechanical advantage. And the divide only becomes more obvious as you get closer & closer to end game.
I did find a way to play without ever needing to spend any money, years later after spending money previously on the game. Anyway, I finally quit the game earlier this year after someone hacked my account and I went through hell getting it back, even got banned from PSN for a month because of it and I was the one hacked. Anyway, it was fun, once but not so much anymore. Besides, lots of new DC games are out and more keep coming. :)
I always find it weird when someone complains about the graphics being bad in a game thats nearly old enough to drive a car. This game is 13 years old and came out for the PS3. Of course the graphics are gonna be bad in 2024. Thats like complaining that Red Dead Revolver looks bad compared to RDR 2.
I played DCUO way back around 2012 when it first came out and I quit playing when it started pushing its crazy monetization scams. The only MMO i am playing now is FF14.
almost got into this game last week. saw it pop up on ps5 and was curious. Made a character and palyed for a lil. it was kind of fun. I almost…ALMOST bought the battle pass or w.e it’s called. but watched a couple videos to see if it was even worth it and found out this game isn’t just pay to win, it’s basically pay to play just to enjoy the game decently u have to throw in money even to get all the powers have to pay😭
I appreciate the heads up on this game. I used to play City of Heroes way back in the day so this seemed like it might strike a similar chord. Glad I never invested into it seeing as how it has gone downhill.
DCUO started as subscription only MMO then it move to Free to Try model by making the game free to play but free account are so limited to the point you won't able to go anywhere without a membership, now it's become truly Free to Play but just like all other free to play game, it's heavily monetize.
I have a lot of fond memories of this game. The best of those being with the League I ran with. However, for most ppl it's al 'All or Nothing' type of experience. Meaning, if you want to stay competitive in this game you will need to spend a lot of time and money getting everything you need (gear, OP Item, artifacts, allies, etc.). Unfortunately, each time a new DLC drops, you feel like you're back at square 1 and the grind starts all over again. Not only that, but because things like artifacts and allies are cash cows for the game, they are always coming out with new ones that will make the ones you spent so much time and money leveling up, seem subar. Sure, you can say... I don't bother with any of that... and I just play for fun. But when you run with a competitive League, the pressure to stay at the same level with the rest of your league mates can be a real thing, because there's always another Tank or Healer in the league that is more than eager to take your spot in the raid group if your stats are not up to the task. So... make with that info what you will. I had a great couple years playing, but decided to hang up my "tights" when I no longer had the time to grind out another set of Elite gear and the OP Item. The timing worked out well as most of the 'Old Heads' in the league felt the same way. Best of luck!
Well said friend, thanks for that awesome comment, I totally agree, I ran with a competitive league on the hero side called Federation, on the vills I was in Evil Kings way more chill, but yea man ran out of time and the grind was too much, stay well friend
I still play DC for a few ppl. If it wasn't for that I would've left years ago and not came back. Been on since 2012. They find everyway to only have you on 1 character which is the most annoying. I mostly use loyalty points for things however I can agree on ppl spending a bag on DC. They make things untradable which is the most annoying because there's stuff that I get that I can send to others to help them but it's account bound or can't trade. The broker is absolutely atrocious. Elite content is there dumbest thing ever because 2 taps and you're dead which is beyond frustrating.
Lol I started playing in 2014. Stopped in 2015 because of how repetitive it was. Ya idea that it took an additional 9 years for it to get stale is absolutely wild to me.
this is such a skill issue. I've been playing since 2013ish and didn't even make my first ingame purchase until the water power dropped. Where I bought all of the powers minus rage. I've never been into pvp or really postgame content, but I absolutely adore the game. the fact its free to play and you can get to where membership owners are by grinding hard. There isn't that huge of an incentive for me to purchase stuff, but i'm also a healthy gamer and dont really play more than a week or 2. So If I buy the membership it lasts a months and then It goes away until I feel like playing again. Sure the games got shit graphics, bad voice acting, and crappy npc's but yet you can find yourself grinding just so you characters can hit level 30. My highest level character which is cr 170 something i think, and most of that has been grinding. and I cant say I hate this game or that it has ripped me off in anyway. I like buying armorys for my base too. anything else I work for 🗣 although its a shame ab the lifetime subscription. only thing i agree on. Replay tolkens is a skill issue too. Just wait till it's replayable! anyways sorry for the long comment!
I barely play it anymore and been a long time since I paid for anything on it. It is ridiculous to get items because players ask way too much and half I can't use. You think being 2024 and PS5, the graphics would look more realistic with realistic bodies and movements, new powers and upgrades, new areas and levels unlike what has been around since beginning. They did an update but no costumes or anything I saw. Every time I try to do levels with other players, nobody does anything nor joins anything so can never play certain levels. I deleted mine but only keep it because there is nothing to play as I quit GTA5 almost a year ago and deleted it. Most of the time, the game is boring now and nothing left to do much so I barely go onto it anymore. They need a remastered DCU with realistic graphics, ray tracing, and more.
as a day one player, and most of those I played with here beta players. the game was great when it was still being developed by Sony. The OG f2p side was just the basic story, which was fine. Once it left sony's hands and became full F2p, it greatly declined. The quality of challenge of the episodes declined. They also got much shorter. there is also no real point for Tier levels, as the system is designed to provide buffs so you meet the minimum specs for each episode. At his point, I may play it once or twice a year, and I feel like my earth Tank is still greatly OP for most the content. The levels hold no challenge anymore. But then again, the over all quality of game play and skill levels have dropped greatly in the last few years of gaming in general.
I haven't really subscribed to DCUO. But the only reason I have it installed is because I have Nightwing toon that I just like walking around Gotham with.
Pay once, free updates for life, 18 quintillion maps that would take the population of three planet earth's to ever map out, planets that scale meaning if it takes a week to walk from Texas to New York that's how long it'll take here, 100% agree 👍
Opinion isn't fact, nor is hearsay. Gear only matters in endgame (last three episodes) where it's a standard of MMOs that if you want to have best in slot, you got to put some work in for it.
i treat this like i treat wow i play it for a couple of months spend maybe 40 than leave it until and event comes out and than yeah go back into the shadows
Your video is very misleading. DCUO is actually very free-to-play friendly, the only people who have gripes like this are the whales who are already spending hundreds of dollars because they have a napoleon complex and need to be the best in slot for some weird reason. You were projecting hard with this video.
"DCUO is actually very free-to-play friendly," Hahahahahahahaha, no. This game is 100% pay to win, and the point at which one can no longer meningfully advance occurs way earlier then it did when i first started playing back in the early 2010s.
@@_C_Boy_ "You are delusional and clearly never played current DCUO if you think that." LOL, not only did i play it mate, i played it when it cost you $70 just to buy the game, before you even got started. And even back then, when the game hadn't become as free to play unfriendly as it is now, it STILL wasn't free to play friendly. DCUO has NEVER been free to play friendly, and with time it's become ever more free to play UNfriendly. There has always been a clear divide between the "i pay for mechanical advantages" players & the "i can barely play this game with other players because i can't compete with the people who paid for mechanical benefits" players. A divide that has only got larger with time.
@@matthewlane That divide only exists if you care about the divide lol. All content is free to play, you can join guilds anytime you want. You act like theres some magical force that prevents you from playing content lmfao, no there is not. Are people rude if your CR isnt a certain number? Sure but rude people in MMO's are nothing new. The point is the game is free to play and viable for anyone who wants to jump in and have fun as a superhero/villain.
@@_C_Boy_ "That divide only exists if you care about the divide lol." Nope, it exists REGARDLESS of wether or not you say you care. The haves versus the have nots. "All content is free to play" Free is not the same thing as accessible. Content is locked behind the combat rating system & the combat rating system is mechanically easier for people willing to pay cash money in one way or the other to the company. "You act like theres some magical force that prevents you from playing content lmfao, no there is not." It's not magical, it's mechanical, it's the combat rating system. "Are people rude if your CR isnt a certain number?" Nothing to do with rudeness my dude, rudeness isn't the divide between playability for free & having to pay to win, which is what this game does. "The point is the game is free to play " No, the point you made is that this game is free to play friendly, which it is objectively not. Capping the amount of money you can have at any given time, limiting play unless you pay for replay tokens, locking all of the end of game content behind a credit & token system that relies on having more money then the cap, while also having replayed that content, makes the game not in any way free to play friendly.
i have put 3.500 hours into this game and i have spent real money on buying the light power never bought anything again i was hooked but not enough to go mad with real money it did not bother me if had crap looking gear on i cant play it now though because i find it so boring now
Well, I’m planning on getting this game. Have been for years, so, if I play it and like it, I’m not going to buy the membership. I’ve seen people said that you don’t really need it.
Agreed with you 100%.. thats why i stopped as well you have to spend money every month for something that gives you ingame advantage. And for the people think they can enjoy it for free .. no you cant enjoy this game for free a lot of stuff is limited for free players and and somepoint you will have to spend money.
I've played scince 2013 and all I can say is it is way more better for new players a free players it used to be impossible as a free player to even be on par with paid players now it's very user friendly
I have been playing DCUO for 13 years. I can honestly say I have spent $100s to 1000's of dollars per year, enough for 3 to 4 down-payments for homes. Any regrets... none. Love the game and will continue to play. The community is 50/50. I have friends, and lucky, I've never had to deal with the thug-like behaviors. I agree with some of your poins as they are true. But, some of your points can apply to many other MMORPGS out there.
Imagine any other game you own. Imagine paying the absolute insane amounts of money in it. I’m not talking about the few hundred a year ppl. I’m talking the tens of thousands ppl (plural) This game was designed to create an addiction (which was fine, back win it was sub only) it’s designed to have you constantly “chasing the dragon” The amount of ppl playing this game, who actually resent tf outta it; because they see the trap they’re caught in. And they can’t walk away, because they’ve invested insane money (on a game that causes them nothing but stress) they can’t walk away because they feel: I’ll lose all the money and time I’ve invested (IT’S ALREADY LOST! Now you have to cut your losses) Best option for those wanting to leave now, is to sell their accounts, and be absolutely done with this illness forever. In-game now: I actively try and tell ppl to quit before they become to invested. This company dgaf about he player base! They see the game dying a slow death; and they’re trying to suck more and more and more. The prices for styles now, hidden behind paywalls is fking insane. The amount they’re asking for; you’d swear it was a brand new, popular af game. lol! Most of you who play this game still. You know you’re an addict! And you know that your addiction costs you thousands per year. The reason so many of you don’t care - is because you’re unemployed! And get government assistance. So the money was never worked for, and you feed other ppl’s hard earned money, into this fktard of a game. Maybe governments need to step in, and see if money is being pissed away on these games. Sooner this game shuts down, the better for all. You may not see it now, but it would benefit you.

And it could always be worse...it could be W.O.W😝

Exactly. It’s only a scam for people with no self control. I loved the storylines of the old content and the video sequences.
Absolutely agree 💯 with you there BC
Letting inactive players keep their lifetime subscription would be stupid for any business that hands out monthly rewards to subscribers.
Because the monthly rewards are trade-able.

Why when show price for monthly subs you do not show how much for 1 month ? i pay maybe 17$ for 1 month and get 500 free cash for market plus monthly daily reward and the 21th day reward seem pretty cheap side of other game for what you get and the stabilizer daily is back so i open a capsule each 2 day without paying more than the monthly subs
to even add more you can say the same things about gta as you did for DC
Gta isn't a subscription game 😐 gta is a different type of game 😐

@@chickenquesadilla8139 scammy right bloat
Not saying you're entirely wrong but free to play gadgets+superspeed+brawling is top meta dps for i dont even know how long now. Electric power is also meta but i dont see a reason to pay jist for that.
One more reason to have skill points above 500

Its a good screen tho
So basically, you're saying that a 14 yo game is a scam by just describing every MMO playable on earth ? 😂
DCUO can also be :
- an old game still updated nowadays
- a very involved community
- a very satisfying univers to evolve in
- a very good character design game (considering you can reproduce almost any character you want)
- a very complete RPG with a good DPS/healers/tank/controller logic
Of course it has its drawbacks, but devs need to eat too, and at some point they have to put something to make players pay !
You won't regret having a go on DCUO, never
have a good one boys

It was hard for me to stop playing because of the money spent, but once people realize that they don't own a damn thing in the game and wake up it's easier to see what it's for.

I’m no lawyer, but I’m pretty sure making a defamatory statement in writing or verbally claiming some fraud or situation that really can’t be proven especially something so arbitrary as this is a scam is sufficient to sue you for a gigantic of money
Im no idiot but i know one when i see one, ur an idiot if ur implying in any way this is sue worthy
Except that will never happen because if they did sue that would open up the company to discovery, which would then inevitably show the game to be nothing more than a money making scam.
It can be proven
@@devilghostface8798 prove it then don’t say it words don’t mean anything. Actions prove it.
I been playing this since launch and you don’t have to pay to win. Find someone who knows what they are doing and you will thrive fast
I used to play this game back in vanilla in 2011-2014 as a villain Frost brawler with Joker as a mentor...Amazing times and amazing beef moments with the heroes. Nostalgia is killing my soul the last fews years... Vanilla wow 2004, Linage 2 2003, warhammer online 2008 and DC 2011
but what if you are strong enough to not spend a cent on the game, does that change anything besisdes the increased difficulty?
That means you have the patience of a saint! I'd definitely start playing again if they overhauled the graphics, that and the pay to play stuff doesn't sit well with me but hey if you like it keep on truckin brother

I've had every issue there was patched on my end, professional communication with the Devs and Producers back at the Big House actually will do stuff for you even send a graphics card if you're nice enough to them and allow them to work on the stuff while connected on the phone still
You got a direct number to call support/developers when you experience problems? Where'd you get that from, exactly? 🤔
The graphics are "Truly Nothing Special" he says, and yet They look 5 times better then half the games on the market. So apparently someone either has weird tastes in graphics, or his video card needs looked at.
I look at the graphics on this game like it was a comic Book, not like a game. I still think after all there years, it looks good.
I just started playing a couple of days ago.... nine hours so far and I've noticed the toxic horse shit in chat. I'm thankful for this exposure. Toxic people in a gaming frenzy can go eat my ass..... by me not playing lol. Thanks for the details. You saved me some time!
toxic ppl is the least of the game concerns snowflake
How many times have you read the N word on that game or anti white rants or loud music in voice chat and getting skill points by buying stuff. No thanks
It's an MMO. That's how it works. It's for nerds who have nothing but money to spend
Dcuo been my favorite game since I was young but it’s gotten out of control
life got so much better since i stopped dcuo
Bro got so mad w the game made a whole vid ranting😭😭
Speaking the Truth, for endgamers like i was back in 2018 who wanted to be top dogs its an endless loop of spending. Got almost a full set of OP gear thats crap today left me at lvl 205. Went to the city of heroes mmo homecoming.
I have around 860sp and I haven’t spent money out of pocket. I’ve played for free by grinding and you don’t need to play end game or elite to have fun. It doesn’t take anywhere near as long as it used to to get leveled up. It’s a great game for free to play and no idea what your problem is but obviously there’s something you’re not telling us.
"and you don’t need to play end game or elite to have fun."
Which is just anopther way of saying "once you get to end game, stop playing, because you eithier pay to win, or don't play at all, because playing end game without paying is no fun."
Lol
It is a free game to play. However, just like in real life, if you wanna keep up with the Jone’s, you’ll need to accumulate debt. Easy fix, don’t try to keep up.
"Easy fix, don’t try to keep up."
If you don't keep up you can't play, because there's no one to play with & the game requires people to play with.
lol yeah I started in 2011 and quit in 2013 and we were a very successful guild but everyone quit cause of DLC spam.
Pay 2 Win , no content , no freedom of speech on forum or streams. PvP wrecked. But if you like to dress all day & spend tons of money, this is your game 👍
💯👊👍
Bro, 100% I bought this game when it was initially released. I got the collectors edition with the Batman statue and then they made it free to play. I got like three free months of whatever subscription service they were offering and then that’s it. This game became paid to win and I honestly wish I just got a complete refund for this game.
I actually love the graphics in this game. It's very colorful, like a comic book. It's one of the things that attracted me to the game. Lots and lots of colors, very pleasing to the eye.
I guess I really lucked out with ending up in a league of non toxic (also very non politically correct) veteran players.
What league man? I used to be in the Federation on the hero side and Evil Kings in the vills
I'm basically hearing
1. The graphics are bad
(10+ yr old game so of course, second best argument)
2. You can buy cosmetics
(you feeling compelled to buy them because they're in fashion is your problem)
3. Some powers/weapon types require purchases to unlock
(Fair point, best argument)
4. If you're impatient and have money to burn then there's a fast pass option
(Learn to be more patient)
I'd say it's time for a DCUO 2 but change the planetary threat and give it a new story, new graphics, getting to test powers and weapons before unlocking or buying them, better/more powers and mobility options and simplifying the grind. It's been ten plus years, DC can do better.
"4. If you're impatient and have money to burn then there's a fast pass option (Learn to be more patient)"
Then you will be at a perpetual disadvantage during the early game as you are competing against people who spent cash money to buy mechanical advantage.
@@TheCryptidBun "Early game I don't feel at disadvantage at all"
How you feel is immaterial.
Sound like 2k every company is disgusting at this point🤦

I did find a way to play without ever needing to spend any money, years later after spending money previously on the game. Anyway, I finally quit the game earlier this year after someone hacked my account and I went through hell getting it back, even got banned from PSN for a month because of it and I was the one hacked. Anyway, it was fun, once but not so much anymore. Besides, lots of new DC games are out and more keep coming. :)
I find myself reminiscing about a time when the Hall of Doom was bustling with people, now it serves as a poignant reminder of days gone by.
Yup time to be a victim and complain
I played DCUO way back around 2012 when it first came out and I quit playing when it started pushing its crazy monetization scams.
The only MMO i am playing now is FF14.
almost got into this game last week. saw it pop up on ps5 and was curious. Made a character and palyed for a lil. it was kind of fun. I almost…ALMOST bought the battle pass or w.e it’s called. but watched a couple videos to see if it was even worth it and found out this game isn’t just pay to win, it’s basically pay to play just to enjoy the game decently u have to throw in money even to get all the powers have to pay😭
City of heroes has been back for years come back to us.
I appreciate the heads up on this game. I used to play City of Heroes way back in the day so this seemed like it might strike a similar chord. Glad I never invested into it seeing as how it has gone downhill.
Yes beware of free to plays for sure and no worries, never heard of City of Hero's but I'll heed your warning
DCUO started as subscription only MMO then it move to Free to Try model by making the game free to play but free account are so limited to the point you won't able to go anywhere without a membership, now it's become truly Free to Play but just like all other free to play game, it's heavily monetize.
Love this game, i find it stress relieving.
I played that game for 10 years. It's still hard to leave it, but I see that dcuo don't have a bright future
Lol I started playing in 2014. Stopped in 2015 because of how repetitive it was. Ya idea that it took an additional 9 years for it to get stale is absolutely wild to me.
Agreed, this game is a huge money grab. Devs are greedy and heartless
If it became 100% free, I'd play it. Unfortunately it's not.
this is such a skill issue.
I like buying armorys for my base too. anything else I work for 🗣
although its a shame ab the lifetime subscription. only thing i agree on.

I’m so tired about people bitching about this game.

Opinion isn't fact, nor is hearsay. Gear only matters in endgame (last three episodes) where it's a standard of MMOs that if you want to have best in slot, you got to put some work in for it.

Your video is very misleading. DCUO is actually very free-to-play friendly, the only people who have gripes like this are the whales who are already spending hundreds of dollars because they have a napoleon complex and need to be the best in slot for some weird reason. You were projecting hard with this video.
"DCUO is actually very free-to-play friendly,"
Hahahahahahahaha, no.
This game is 100% pay to win, and the point at which one can no longer meningfully advance occurs way earlier then it did when i first started playing back in the early 2010s.

@@_C_Boy_ "That divide only exists if you care about the divide lol."
Nope, it exists REGARDLESS of wether or not you say you care.
The haves versus the have nots.
"All content is free to play"
Free is not the same thing as accessible. Content is locked behind the combat rating system & the combat rating system is mechanically easier for people willing to pay cash money in one way or the other to the company.
"You act like theres some magical force that prevents you from playing content lmfao, no there is not."
It's not magical, it's mechanical, it's the combat rating system.
"Are people rude if your CR isnt a certain number?"
Nothing to do with rudeness my dude, rudeness isn't the divide between playability for free & having to pay to win, which is what this game does.
"The point is the game is free to play "
No, the point you made is that this game is free to play friendly, which it is objectively not.
Capping the amount of money you can have at any given time, limiting play unless you pay for replay tokens, locking all of the end of game content behind a credit & token system that relies on having more money then the cap, while also having replayed that content, makes the game not in any way free to play friendly.
If Marvel would quit ending their games like Ultimate Alliance. Hero’s Omega etc. maybe we wouldn’t need to play dcuo.
With these games the problem I have is they don't add proper lighting in the game
i have put 3.500 hours into this game and i have spent real money on buying the light power never bought anything again i was hooked but not enough to go mad with real money it did not bother me if had crap looking gear on i cant play it now though because i find it so boring now
Well, I’m planning on getting this game.
Wish to explain ?

Imagine any other game you own. Imagine paying the absolute insane amounts of money in it.
I’m not talking about the few hundred a year ppl. I’m talking the tens of thousands ppl (plural)

The amount of ppl playing this game, who actually resent tf outta it; because they see the trap they’re caught in. And they can’t walk away, because they’ve invested insane money (on a game that causes them nothing but stress) they can’t walk away because they feel: I’ll lose all the money and time I’ve invested (IT’S ALREADY LOST! Now you have to cut your losses)
Best option for those wanting to leave now, is to sell their accounts, and be absolutely done with this illness forever.
