Hey everybody! I really loved making this video and I definitely want to make a part two! So pls reply with some more incredible acting moments that I missed because I know there’s more!
this was a great compilation! i would say one moment i would put in a part 2 would be emma's reactions during the ending scene and bows of TGWDLM. lauren really sells her fear in those scenes.
i wanna suggest the part in starship near the end where bug is about sacrifce himself to save everyone and he says "being a starship ranger's been the only thing i've wanted my whole life" 😭😭 that moment always make me emotional, i think about that scene like 5 times a day. joey richter can really pull on my heart strings... and bug means so much to me 🥺
Lex's letter is so gut-wrenching. The fact that this is the same person who plays Grace and seeing what Angela is like in real life, her acting is impeccable
It's so funny seeing Smosh fans who've never watched Hatchetfield stuff come across Black Friday and see what an incredible actress Angela is. "This is the same person who played Vacuum Poppy??"
If I had a nickel for every time Dylan Saunders played a role involving a dead wife and troubles with his kid, and absolutely nailed it, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t much, but *starts crying*
That sort of line for any character hirs me so hard cause it’s like I don’t wanna be a burden but the other person often loves them so unconditionally that they didn’t care
Lauren’s range is just insane. She literally becomes her character and it’s so hard to believe all of her characters were played by the same person. Like emma and draco? Or linda and ruth?? How does she do that???
Oh my god Kim's BF monologue NEVER fails to keep me transfixed. She doesn't waste a *second* of that monologue, whether it's in her facial expressions, her body language, her voice or the long pauses. It's such a brilliantly written and acted monologue.
I think (among other reasons) why some Starkid shows such as Firebringer don't sit as well with the fandom is because they don't have a lot of sincerity. The talent of Starkid to punch you in the gut with raw emotion and then have you cry laughing ten seconds later really adds to the charm and shows off that yes, these are professional fucking performers, and they are damn good at what they do. Humour rises and falls on pathos, and while slamming a million jokes into a two hour show is a feat in itself, without the quieter moments, it can easily feel very forced, loud and leaves you out-of-breath.
That’s why I’ve been loving the Hatchetfield shows! It really showcases everyone’s ability as both comedy and dramatic actors and it’s so fun to watch!
firebringer is one of my favourites so i feel like i need to defend it a bit, it is primarily a comedy but in its satirical jokes holds really philosophical meanings but also it was a silly little show with a lot a love (it also had its moments where you’re like holy shit stuff just got real)
@@theatricallyill I liked that it was a silly little show. I just think they dropped the ball at the end (except when Chorn said "There is no God", that was funny)
i've watched black friday a lot by now but my jaw still drops every time i hear/watch kim do becky's monologue. what a phenomenal actress. thank you for including that whole scene ❤
Starting right off the bat with Lex's letter is like getting hit by a train and expecting us to be able to keep up with the rest of this 30 MINUTE VIDEO.
Emma's monologue in TGWDLM has always been one of my favorite scenes in all of Starkid. Lauren really knocked it out of the park here. It just feels so natural. Also, Lex's letter 💔
It was truly cruel that they had Miss Holloway's goodbye to Duke in one episode, then in the very next episode, they had Lex's letter to Ethan. Those two scenes will never fail to make me cry. Also: "Science says you're dead and gone forever. Reason says I'm talking to the air," is a lyric that rips my heart out every time.
It is amazing how you can get so used to the spectacular performances by StarKid, that you forget how they can break you down. It is a testament to the writing and the performances. The whole scene in AVPSY where Harry talks to those who are watching over him gets me every time. It starts with Ron's Sidekick song and goes all the way through to the epilogue. Yet, when the ghosts of his past come back and Snape basically knocks some sense into him, whew boy. In VHSCC the whole scene where Scrooge sees a younger him let Belle leave is well done. Then when Christmas future shows him his destiny if he fails to change . . . Jamie's voice gives me goosebumps for real. There are so many moments, to be honest. StarKid deserves so many trophies because, sure, they can make you laugh; however, they know how to dig deep and make you feel things that you don't expect. Can't wait for a part two. I know you will find plenty of clips.
There are also several story concepts that make us laugh when acted out, but are pretty fucked up if you think about it. Like, Charlotte from TGWDLM - being rejected by her lover who actually had real feelings for her, because she couldn't bring herself to stop caring about her prick of a husband? Being unable to deal with loving Sam and not wanting to hurt Ted and the conflict between those two things, only to turn to God as ask for help, a sign, anything at all and being met with her husband seemingly coming back from the dead, deceiving her and finally killing her? That is heartbreaking, even if the songs are catchy.
when the worlds at stake will always get me, like Jeff really wrote the line “maybe I regret her ever needing a mother” and it’s hardly ever brought up ?!! maybe the most moving line from any starkid show it’s just so heartbreaking and raw. Just the complexity of it always somehow catches me off guard
Thank you for including Rachael Soglin in this!!! She's super talented but always goes under the radar, which is criminal imo. Also Becky's monologue always hits me so hard...
oh my god thank you for including that little white lie scene with tanya & sami because i watched that for the first time in 14 years a couple days ago and it made my JAW HIT THE FLOOR like holy SHIT LAUREN!!!!
It’s crazy how she can be super crazy and chaotic while playing Grace and just irl, then perform this heartbreaking monologue like the one from Yellow Jacket. Same goes for a lot of sk actors! Absolutely insane
Just realized that the last line we hear before Jon mattesons first on stage death is "youve lost everything"... probably just a coincidence but that definitely reminds of a line jon himself sang in another show ...
I saw Black Friday opening night. At the end of her first show with the group I firmly believed that Angela was in running for the best actor in Starkid. She has done nothing to disabuse me of this notion since.
Richie's death is the most heartwrenching death in all of Starkid to me. I see a bit of myself in him sometimes. Not in every aspect, but there are some bits that I see myself where he was. Bullied, nerdy, small circle of friends, no one to go to for help. The thing about Richie that really makes me sad is that he may be nerdy and weird, but he's loveable, kind, and I just want to give him a hug. His final words break my heart every time. I mean, we get told that he's gonna die at the very beginning of the show, but even with that, I wasn't prepared for the pain that his death caused me. It really sticks with me even now. Jon really is a humongous talent. He made me lose myself in the story and I forgot that that's exactly what it is. A story. He made him feel real. He made me love him from the first word that came out of his mouth. He gave so much life to the character. I never thought that a character in a musical or anything, for that matter, dying could make me hurt like I lost a friend, but that did it. The thing that makes me really sad is that they didn't really give the other characters time to mourn Richie or Ruth. Hell, they didn't even let Steph mourn her own father, let alone the fact that she's now an orphan with no one to take care of her. That's really my only gripe with NPMD, though. Edit: also, I'd like to point out that while the whole scene is playing out after he joins the other students singin on, "I'm not a loser," the students that came on to sing stay standing there, which I always thought was a symbolism for how Richie is actively being attacked AT the game and anyone could see him and Max, but no one notices because they're too focused on the game to realize that he's in danger.

if you included Solve It Squad, the scene where Scrags goes off on Gwen is one of my favourites !
the paul/infected paul switching in let it out!!
Both of Tom's songs in Black Friday! But especially "And then flash..." from If I Fail You.
Lex's letter is so gut-wrenching. The fact that this is the same person who plays Grace and seeing what Angela is like in real life, her acting is impeccable
THE RANGE is INSANE
If you put this beside Angela's role as Grace Chastity you won't even recognize her
I did this letter for a MT exam and it is so sad
It's so funny seeing Smosh fans who've never watched Hatchetfield stuff come across Black Friday and see what an incredible actress Angela is. "This is the same person who played Vacuum Poppy??"
she could be making me cry one second then screaming and running around bc she ate cat food the next
Starkids are so funny and chaotic that you can sometimes forget that they are also straight up phenomenal actors as well
It’s crazy that in one show you can go from crying laughing to straight up crying crying
If I had a nickel for every time Dylan Saunders played a role involving a dead wife and troubles with his kid, and absolutely nailed it, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t much, but *starts crying*

just hitting us immediately with Lex's letter huh
Had to set the bar high :)
Lex's letter to Ethan rips my heart out everytime. One of my all time fav HF alongside, "oh yeah, he was watching the fireworks..." :(

I think the reason Firebringer doesn't hit the fandom is because it started with cave people eating babies and ended with aliens
@@LunaWitcherArt You must be new to the Starkid fandom.
