She may be "rude" but if you listen to what she said you will hear that she has covered him for all the many things he has done to her as well. He is not innocent and should also be held accountable for his actions. Even if your Mom is a drunkard you are compelled to respect her.

Even if their Mom was single or private about her love life they just don't respect them because they feels she's a woman and she must be the reason the father left.
