Anyone who understands something about music knows how incredible this song is. The verses have a very bizarre chord progression, which was taken up before the last chorus too, on which they were able to compose two different melodies. One of these (the la la, la la la part) also appears at the end of the song but on a completely different chord progression (AND IT FITS IT!). No music producer works at this level nowadays. I bought this CD and blasted it Everytime it was my turn to pick the music😂 what's amazing is how I haven't heard this song in well over a decade and still remember every single word and now I felt on the road trip but I can't remember what the hell I had for dinner two nights ago. The human brain is wild
wow the nostalgia is strong with this one... missing the old days being a 12/13 year old watching this on mtv in my room talking to my friend on the phone...
Haha. I feel stupid liking this, but I do. When I was in high school, this girl I got rides with in the morning would play this album a lot. This was probably my favorite song. I take that back, I like Autobiography more.
first ashlee song i ever heard. i was 14 and used to play tomb raider and hot wheels turbo racing. now, at 33, i still put it on repeat & it's my go to song at the gym. la la la la la la la la....
I never really listened to this song much since I was more into rock and metal in my teen years.. but the nostalgia brought me here. Oh how good it was back then. Honestly it was amazing. To the nay sayers saying “it was bad then too”.. we are talking about society, societal norms, family values, and especially the world that was presented to children. Every day stuff. It was WAY better back then lol. Not perfect obviously, but way better. It’s evident in how people present themselves and how people think and relate to each other. Basically social media completely obliterated any sense of innocence and authenticity. A lot of young people these days are like zombies.. chained to their phone and TikTok. Kids used to go out and play together or go to the mall or whatever. Now everyone’s online getting brainwashed by the freak show
This video was actually fairly accurate for the time (which was rare for MTV). Scene girls in belts trying to act hot...people hanging out on a curb...a backyard keg party...kids acting stupid in front of a store. Like this really WAS the early 2k. No cell phone and the internet was strictly for "later on" after you got done hanging out. I think modern kids are missing out on this face to face action. Anyone from back then who watches this video and can't nod their head as an adult and say "yepp" was VERY sheltered. This was a real 2002 hang out sess. Only as a video.

I had no idea what this song was about and I was singing it all the time when I was 12 lol
+Sematary Kat Hahahahaha I neither have idea about the meaning of this song :( Jeez!
Lmao same here
+Sematary Kat I was 25 and I had no idea what she was singing about, lol.
+Meade Skelton whats the meaning ???? 😣😣😣
Ivanna Illescas
i think "la la" means sexual intercourse but I'm not sure.
I was an Avril Lavigne dude when I was 14 back in 2004 so I pretended not to like this song but it rocked tbh
ME friggin too. I'm Canadian and loved Avril since Let Go. Under My Skin holds a special place in my heart.

Skye Sweetnam was my first pop punk crush. Then Avril and Fefe and Lillix
Canadian rock chicks are adorable.
Yeah
No lie. Me too. I was around 14 when this came out. Couldn't say I liked it.
Demi covering this made me so happy for Ashlee
Im so happy that Demi brought back one of the first pop rock queens to perform this anthem on stage 2022. So now we need a re recorded version feat demi 🤞🏻🙏🏻🫶🏻🙌🏼
Agree. I'm hoping for a new studio recording as a collab with Demi too.
Omg that would be cool af
I discovered this song in Elite Beats Agents and absolutely loved it.
I wish Ashlee would release a new album.
Agents are... GO!!!
i used to love her album when i was 13 years old and now i am fuckin speechless cause i was listening to a song about sex the entire time no wonder my mom looked at me like i was crazy when i sung her songs
hahahaha my thoughts exactly!
I'm your age and I used to sign thsi too, issue was I KNEW it was about sex but did't honestly care haha
I know it is about sex and still love the song.....
You're speechless now.. you'll be an adult when you realize that almost all popular music is about sex. And yes it's sad.
Actually no, it is not. It makes the song good
Pop Masterpiece
It's so funny to go back and listen to these songs as an adult. My innocent preteen ass had nooo idea what she was singing about, but I sure as hell sang along 🤣
Esta cancion me hace acordar a cuando estabas al pedo y no tenias q preocuparte por nada ni por nadie, q buenos tiempos aquellos😭💖
The 2000s... those outfits!! I miss that decade so much!
God do I miss THIS Ashlee and 2004 altogether!! :) Best times, best music and I was only 25. BEST years!! :)
When I was 16, I went on my first road trip with my boyfriend to Myrtle Beach. I bought this CD and blasted it Everytime it was my turn to pick the music😂 what's amazing is how I haven't heard this song in well over a decade and still remember every single word and now I felt on the road trip but I can't remember what the hell I had for dinner two nights ago. The human brain is wild
Great song. Didn't expect to read about Myrtle Beach today. Miss going there
Always loved Ashlee and I'm glad she's back in the spotlight.
How come I didn't know she was singing about sex? I remember being 9 years old and being obsessed with this song. Awkward.
Same but I didn't know the English language back then so I guess I'm safe xP
Same.
Same😂
Love it❤
This was the air of 2000s. I still remember it.
wow the nostalgia is strong with this one... missing the old days being a 12/13 year old watching this on mtv in my room talking to my friend on the phone...
Haha. I feel stupid liking this, but I do. When I was in high school, this girl I got rides with in the morning would play this album a lot. This was probably my favorite song. I take that back, I like Autobiography more.
+Polly Bonanzas Same, I love Autobiography.
+Belletaina ikr
+Belletaina Oh yeah:)!
Yes. This was my jam. I still have the cd!!
first ashlee song i ever heard. i was 14 and used to play tomb raider and hot wheels turbo racing. now, at 33, i still put it on repeat & it's my go to song at the gym. la la la la la la la la....
Really one of the most adorable pop divas I ve ever seen and heard. She was awesome in the movie "Undiscovered"
2020-2021 y aun me encanta escuchar esta canción. Que hermosos recuerdos me trae. La amo😍😍😍😍😍
still listening in 2019. this album was great.
So she invented the Lorde's moves!
LMAO she soooo did!!! 😂
Hahahahah
Didn't invent mine...
Lol or a record label did : p

What a song! Ashlee looks so cool!
Rocking music style always comesback, maybe in some years 👊
Lyrics
You can dress me up in diamonds
You can dress me up in dirt
You can throw me like a line-man
I like it better when it hurts
Oh, I have waited here for you
I have waited
You make me wanna la la
In the kitchen on the floor
I'll be your French maid
When I'll meet you at the door
I'm like an alley cat
Drink the milk up I want more
You make me wanna
You make me wanna scream
You can meet me on an airplane
Or in the back of the bus
You can throw me like a boom-a-rang
I'll come back and beat you up
Oh, I have waited here for you
Don't, keep me waiting
You make me wanna la la
In the kitchen on the floor
I'll be your French maid
When I'll meet you at the door
I'm like an alley cat
Drink the milk up I want more
You make me wanna
You make me wanna scream
You make me wanna la la
In the kitchen on the floor
I'll be your French maid
When I'll meet you at the door
I'm like an alley cat
Drink the milk up I want more
You make me wanna
You make me wanna scream
I feel safe with you
I can be myself tonight
It's alright, with you
'cause you hold, my secrets tight
You do, You do
You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la
You make me wanna la la, la la la
You make me wanna la la
In the kitchen on the floor
I'll be your French maid
When I'll meet you at the door
I'm like an alley cat
Drink the milk up I want more
You make me wanna
You make me wanna la la
In the kitchen on the floor
I'll be your French maid
When I'll meet you at the door
I'm like an alley cat
Drink the milk up I want more
You make me wanna
You make me wanna scream
You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la
You make me wanna la la, la la la la
You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la
You make me wanna la la, la la la la
You make me wanna la la, la la la, la la, la la la la la la la la la
You make me wanna la la, la la la la
