How many Labourers are there in UAE?
Statistics. According to the Annual Economic Report 2019 (PDF, 18.5 MB), the total labour force in the UAE in 2018 was 7.384 million. The number of people working in all economic sectors of the country reduced from 7.241 million in 2017 to 7.219 in 2018, a decline of 0.3 per cent
One of our favourite influencers, Emirati personality, Khalid Al Ameri moved to a labour camp and work for a day, to reveal the reality.
Khalid Al Ameri exposes the real truth about labour camps in Dubai
Most people might picture labour camps as shabby dormitories with unhygienic sanitary standards. Khalid Al Ameri proves this isn’t actually the case in Dubai.
Workers not allowed to work under harsh sunlight
During peak sunlight hours, they work from 6 am-12:30 pm. They have a three-hour break when they have lunch or take a nap.
Rooms for recreational activities and hosting families
Labour camps have a ‘residence guest room’, where workers can bring their family or friends to stay. The room plays host to recreational activities like table tennis, billiards, a gym, a library, a cinema hall and volleyball.
Workers have control of their passport
A big issue Al Ameri talks about is employees’ access to their passport. Similar in style to a letterbox, Al Ameri shows a room where every worker has a locker, for storing their passport securely and that it is always in their control.
Inside Dubai's labour camps
A hidden army of exploited immigrant workers are building Dubai's skyscrapers. Ghaith Abdul-Ahad visited the labour camps they inhabit to capture their lives
The residential areas of Al Quoz 1, 2 and 4 are home to mainly Emirati families. Newly developed (2012) Al Quoz 2 is south of Al Khail road towards Meydan and the only area outside the rectangle. It hosts Al Quoz' new Pond Park. As for Al Quoz 3 it is mainly industrial.
Al Quoz industrial areas 1, 2, 3 and 4 are in the southwest of the rectangle, and is being developed by Dubai Municipality as an industrial and mass accommodation area. It service development projects such as Dubai Marina and the freezone in Jebel Ali as well as many Dubai hotels by hosting facilities (also called labour camps) that are able to house about 2,000 labourers or staff
On 26 March 2008, an explosion ripped through two warehouses in Al Quoz industrial killing at least two people. The explosion originated from a warehouse storing gas and subsequently ignited a warehouse next door containing fireworks. Flames from the explosion spread to seventy warehouses nearby, causing at least Dh 600,000,000 ($170 mil) of damage.

In India people are happily live but in other countries such as UAE life is too much touch.these labourers earn around 20,000 Rs per month and they wait for 2 years to return to India. I don't know what they are doing there. Life is tough and no facilities from the government and builders. If you are in India then you become happy and you earn less money. Most people work abroad because they want to show themselves in their relatives and in society.
These are real people who become misguided by other people.
I love my country India.
Fixed monthly salary and on time, free visa and medical, 2 months paid leave and free flights and sleeping in AC every night !! a possibility to grow into high salaried jobs like like formen, supervisors and drivers after experience. Good life for family back home, and of course everyone takes pride to work abroad , for more let’s discuss through Instagram if wish sir, overall there’s a more bright side than dark , Indian construction workers ko toh site par hi rehna padta hai temporary jhopdiyo mein , I love Dubai & India Too 🇦🇪 🇮🇳

I've been here multiple times especially around the Dulsco arena on Fridays when all the shopping, haircutting, streetside eateries happen. All this hidden away in plain sight from all the glitz and glamour of Dubai (Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa are visible barely few kms away).
More people should know and see this part of Dubai too. Keep it up 👍
