So, the writers/producers of this show also wrote and produced a UA-cam Premium show called Wayne. It is also an action comedy. In that show, the maguffin for going across the country was a car, as opposed to TM having Mackie deliver a package. I liked the show and I'm expecting TM to have the same humor and gore. But, TM sounds a lot more like a different show on Syfy called Blood Drive. A bunch of teams drive vehicles across the country for some unimportant reason and each episode has the vehicles stop off in different areas that act like different worlds. One stop was cannibals, another stop was a wacky religious cult, another one was a sex party where an orgy was happening on a bus. There was an overarching story about the race's promoter doing business with the "bad corporation" that just so happened to be the same corporation he works for. The show is called Blood Drive because gasoline is scarce, so all vehicles have engines that run on human blood. As you may guess from the description, it came out during the grindhouse trend, but at the very end of it.
for the love of christ, just take black as heavy inspiration. Personally, I'd add Krista (grasshopper) in for extra plot purposes, and Calypso's TM 2012 design.
I really hope the show does the source material justice, and gets the tone right even though that could be different depending who you ask. Id like if sony can get good live action stuff out there so they can move along with their plans. Im still pissed that sly cooper got shelved. And theyve come a long way since they did nothing with the sonic IP for 6 years. And with uncharted and last of us doing so well, i can see them having wisened up a bit.
I remember David Jaffe saying he would be down for a Twisted Metal themed slasher film with the car combat, not exactly taking a back seat but being less of a focus instead of the dark, gritty journey of a slasher villain (obviously Sweet Tooth) in pursuit of their prey. I for one would have been more for something along those lines, but I am foreseeing another Resident Evil show situation. I feel its gonna be bad, and that worries me.
Huge fan of the franchise! I need lots of characters, but lots of storyline driven characters, and like TM: Black, I need them to be gritty, focused, vengeful individuals, or they need to be absolute psychos, but I want that story too!
I'm a true fan and I'm not looking forward to it. Liking something that is only a representation in name only is naive and lazy. If you're looking forward to it, rock on then, but don't assume every "true" fan should automatically love it regardless of quality.
I don’t know man I’m pretty worried myself considering the fact that it’s going to be on Peacock and also just the reveal trailer. Kind of just really threw me off and like you said about how there can only be one victor I mean sweet tooth is the most iconic character in the entire series, but they’re not going to make it him because it would be too obvious and also roadkill winning would just be a spoiler straight out from the beginning, it sounds like there’s only gonna be one season of it for the anticipation of the game and who knows they might release the game in October in celebration of its anniversary I think Anthony Mackie would’ve been better if they used him as axle I really wouldn’t get too excited about the show bro to be honest but definitely can’t wait for the game. And yes I agree they should make it rated M because it’s a car combat game. I mean all you do is blow shit up lol. i’ve been playing twisted metal since it first came out and I am more than ready for another game even though PS3 twisted metal one all that it really pissed me off whenever PlayStation network took it off and the only other game you can play is twisted metal black, which is pretty sweet but I will be destroying everything in my path 😂
There will be no contest. Early press releases made this out to sound like a cross between Mad Max and National Lampoons Vacation. I think buddy road trip comedy was the phrase used to describe it. It's two guys driving cross country to deliver a mysterious package while Sweet Tooth and some goons chase after them. No mention of the Twisted Metal contest or Calypso. Keep your expectations VERY low.
I though the same when I saw the characters listed ad how many episodes are they in. Its like an spoiler. I was expecting more like a Hero Team (like Captain Roberts, Warthog driver, Pit Viper driver, Crimson Fury..) All the ones that want to take down Calypso, then the Bad Ones, like serial killers (as Sweet Tooth and Mr. Grimm), the weirdos, the ones fighting for their own life goals (as Spectre and Twister) and the mysterious ones... We have to wait for see what the plot is about. Its like there's no Calypso contest on the show.
I dont care for it to be perfect or anything, totally watching it, was my childhood, i love the idea of it having its classic goofy and twisted atmosphere. IM GOING TO FREAK OUT IF DARKSIDE SHOWS UP
Solid points. My main gripe is that the actual characters we came to know and love are not mentioned anywhere. Sure, we have Sweet Tooth, Roadkill, Mr. Slam, Stu (Hammerhead mlre than likely), Agent Stone (Outlaw), and so-on. But where is mention of Minion, Crimson Fury (the original agent stone), Spectre, Grashopper, Axle, Twister, Dark Tooth, Thumper, Mr. Grimm, and even Calypso (no mention of him). As stated in your video, comedy is a gear grinder for me as well. I need suspense. Heck, even dark-humor would've been a thumbs up for me lol. But pure comedy? Okay, I guess we can laugh at cars being blown up 😂. As for the synopsis of the story. I don't remember delivering a mysterious package anywhere in Twisted 🤦🏽♂️.
Kane (Glenn Thomas Jacobs) played Needles Kane in Twisted Metal (2012) and did a great job. Why didn't they hire him for this series? This "comedy" that will be in the series worries me a lot. Another thing: Mortal Kombat (latest movie) focused on a character that never existed in the game and flopped. What will be the future of the TM series? I'm really worried too.
@@RJ-hk7oj so did some versions of death race . A on-going theme between all three games seems to be about running over pedestrians who run onto the tournament battle-field .
So excited for this! Thanks for sharing the news. This Show worries me but gets me excited that they might be hyping the name/ IP because they have a new game coming up 👀
The trailer was short, but it revealed a lot about how they're approaching this take on Twisted Metal. You can tell it's gonna be campy, and you can also tell that the producers aren't die hard fans of the games. Case in point, The way Sweet Tooth gives off a maniacal laugh at the end of the trailer. Sweet Tooth (this rendition of him) never had a laugh like that in any of the games, and it's more reminiscent of The Joker than it is Sweet Tooth. It seems like they're going for the generic killer clown thing, which is super forgettable, and extremely hack.
From what I understand is Will Arnet is just the voice of Sweettooth, so someone else is the physical Sweettooth I don't know why they decided to do that and from what understand he is wrestler. That aside I'd love a new game and we need David Jaffe back at the helm. But who knows what the future of Twisted metal will be, I have mixed feelings on the show, as a fan of the series with 2 being one of my favorites, Black as a close second, Head on is somewhere in the middle about the same as 3 is, I've never played 4 though watching your videos on it i might give it a try it's interesting and my biggest issue with one is that they cut the ending movies and just left word paragraphs with Caylospo's picture and I really didn't like his design in one, so one is often set aside, For better games in the series. Also in that show it seems they are taking some characters from Black Nev Campbell is Raven driver of Shadow from Black so that's interesting.
Will Arnett is just the voice of Sweet Tooth, Samoa Joe is playing the physical character. Sweet Tooth will probably be seen here and there throughout the series but only talk in one episode. In my opinion that's fine anyway, I wouldn't want a Twisted Metal show where everything revolves around Sweet Tooth like in TM4.
It's difficult to understanding the tone of twisted metal to be honest. In my opinion its like evil dead 2 "comedy horror" a little campy. I hope this series tone is horror/ comedy/ action.
I opened up this video going "I wonder if he knows the show got labeled an action comedy" and sure enough, yup lol. Idk, bar is on the floor for me on this one. If I walk into it with any meaningful expectation, I feel like I'm going to be very disappointed
Haha same exact feelings here. I suppose in the end as long as the show does well and gets a second season greenlit, we can safely say that a new TM game will be in the works (if it isn't already)
super depressing it's a comedy. A Twisted Metal Black-type show would be epic. Also Roadkill has always been a white guy. Hopefully we'll live long enough to where AI can produce beautiful tv shows or movies exactly how we'd like them to be

Wayne was a really good show. i have some faith now.
PLEASE BE GOOD PLEASE BE GOOD PLEASE BE GOOD PLEASE BE GOOD PLEASE BE GOOD PLEASE BE GOOD
They should of do a episode were it focuses on one person at a time
That's the plan
Be hopeful but remain skeptical. This way if it’s bad we will not be disappointed.
I didn't even know it was getting a show

🙏 Hope it won’t get the woke treatment 🙏

Serious question: What would the woke treatment look like? PG rating?
@@timross5351 prob like the “diverse” characters making not so subtle jokes how Calypso pays women 87% of what sweet tooth makes an hour.
Maybe Sweet tooth is the main boss? So he's at the end, so he's only in 1 episode?
I grew up playing Twisted Metal, I hope it delivers

Wow sounds cool. It’s an elimination game. Sweet tooth might be a boss. Hopefully minion is in it.
Hopefully it's the TM1 version of Minion, with the 3 loonies behind the wheel

I think the first death race is the closest we're gonna get to a true TM liveaction. Im excited but hesitant on this. As a lifelong player since TM2

Soooo from what iv read will arentt is only playing the voice of sweet tooth the guy playing ass him is Samoa joe who was a wrestler
I agree with you in all of this. I'm still gonna check it out but I'm skeptical about it.
I feel like every twisted metal had a good mix of comedy even Black had humor just a lot darker i think it will be great
Teaser is out
Yep my update video to that is going live in 15 min!

To be fair the character endings of all the twisted metals are slightly comical and twisted in a way.

I don't have any faith in Hollywood's ability to make a decent series or movie, but I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't suck.
How could anyone be anything but worried about it all media is shit now
