Wow, this brings back fond memories! I used to come down here on vacation several times a year during the 80s and 90s and got to know Don and Lois quite well. I used to go antiquing with Don to stock up the gift shop and he travelled back to Connecticut with me a few times to check on his Age of Steam Museum when he moved it up to Essex Ct. back in the day. Don was an unforgettable guy and I miss him. It is great to hear his voice again!
Good memories i grew up there in the 80s and Aunt Lois and Uncle Don were our adopted aunt and uncle because of all the time we came up and stayed at the motel and we had met lots of friends there and Earl Red Schaub used to come over after work on the Strasburg railroad and it breaks my heart that we found out that our family was supposed to own the Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant but our aunt lois Lost our phone number and had no way to call us to let us know about that. And to this day the Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant would have stayed the same as it was in 1970s and 80s and the reservation book would have stayed the same.
