- Casey Jones' Restaurant at The Red Caboose Motel in historic Strasburg, PA is excited to unveil their massive Saluda Burger Food Challenge!
In the mid 1800’s, the Southern Railway looked for a way to connect Asheville, North Carolina to Spartanburg, South Carolina. In 1878, a line was constructed through the Blue Ridge Mountains. The steep climb - a 4-5% grade - earned the distinction of being the steepest standard gauge mainline railway grade in the United States. At it’s summit, passing through the town of Saluda, North Carolina, the grade became known as the Saluda Grade.
Today this feat of railroad engineering lives on at Casey Jones’ Restaurant. It’s known as...The Saluda Burger Challenge! 2 half-pound burgers, pulled pork x2, bacon, cheese, 2 fried eggs and 2 lbs. of fries. Think you can handle it? Come on in and give it a try today! You only have 30 minutes. :-)
Special thanks to our friends at the Strasburg Rail Road, Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and the National Toy Train Museum!
