Groundhog Burrow Metal Detecting

- Join me as I metal detect and sift out a house foundation (and several groundhog burrows) in search of treasure. I find some neat Civil War relics, a colonial era shoe buckle and a nice large cent coin dated 1840. Plus I find a few other odds and ends. It was a fun dig.

I've been subscribed for a while, now. I'm not a metal detectorist, but I am a history buff! I get a lot of enjoyment out of watching little fragments of history emerge from the earth in these videos.

Hi Cindy from Virginia, USA. Enjoyed your video. The metal detecting was very interesting. The shrews were awesome but the best was the contest of log throwing. Such fun. Stay safe see you next time.

I live in South East Pennsylvania and I always like to ride my motorcycle up along the river through the Water Gap. I have heard that a lot of deserters from the Civil War used to hide out in the forest lands up there. I am guessing there could be some good stuff up there, maybe along the river banks.
What a great spot! A buckle and a plate, nice saves Chigg.
Are you a teacher or professor? You just know so much on land and animals I am really amazed.
Great video, very interesting, nice finds on the plates. Thank You Beau.
Man it warms my heart to see you all happy like this. Is that weird? Nah.
I would go absolutely nuts if I dug those civil war artifacts.
Wow Mr Beau what a hunt i love the long videos keep em up thanks for sharing
Ohhhh. The shoe buckle! I know exactly how they looked from the movies. Deadly
Next time your'e sifting, run a magnet over the sifter and the dirt to pick out the nails and iron quickly. I do this and it works a treat.
That's the first think I thought of too. And he's got magnets.
I am in a compound where I dug a sword, goodies, ornate brass..I should f thought of magnet to help..The ticks are so miserable, even in snow they are crawling.I use everything to repel and they do not care..Square nails everywhere..
@Quentin Torin No we dont care, go chew glass Quentin.
I really like the way your throat I saw an old man who had a huge amount of gold that from metal detecting and he said he always detects every signal even if it sounds like it's not a good signal but the way you showed the three different signals and then showed how you do your sister and suspended sister like that it's totally amazing thank you so much for sharing these techniques..
Sorry to be offtopic but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
I was walking an Indian site and saw a skunk hole. I thought about your advice and went over to it. There, in the entrance of the hole was a perfect Poverty Point Object waiting to roll back down. I secured it. I thanked the skunk for his precious gift. It still has his little claw marks in the soil around it. I never washed it. Thank you Chigg for your excellent advice.
Great video! You do such a great job describing everything. Thank you Christian
i like the long videos keep them coming
I shur am glad to see other people expressing how they like the longer vids. If you like AC or the subject matter how could you not? Unless you suffer from that dreaded modern affliction " SHORT ATTENTION SPAN "
They're MALL rats, they thrive on chaos and shiny glitzy junk, never read nor have an original thought! If they did they would have do undergo months of psycho therapy.
David Traves as well as she is not going home
have thel internet is on
I like the longer video also...
After finding that buckle, id be there - head down and bum up - for DAYS
Very nice finds. Thanks for taking us along.
Don't forget that Groundhog dens always have two holes for ventilation. Excellent vid and tips
This is my favorite video of yours that I have ever watched and I have seen all of them. We met at dig stock in North Carolina back about a month ago. It was truly an honor to meet you. I’ve learned everything about this hobby from you. You’re one of the only ones on the Internet that is still doing it real
Your videos just make me wonder how many artifacts I would have found back in the day when I was a Boyscout. We used to go on hikes and see old pieces of iron, old pipes, and once we came across a model T frame in the woods (troop leader collected really old cars). I never had the money to invest in a metal detector and being an EMT I really don't have time. But to at least see someone who can document what they find is just so nice to have at my disposal anytime... anywhere.
Thank you Beau!
That was fun! Please more of it. Love the land hunts. Subscribed to you 3 or 4 years ago! Always enjoying the videos.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your treasure with us Chig...
My heart is pounding right now watching you do this I am so addicted to detecting my wife said she would have more fun burying the stuff that I find then finding the stuff LOL we definitely are a certain breed
I love to find meadows with gopher/ground squirrel burrows. They always push the sharp things out of their dogs, arrow heads, etv.

wow 35 minutes of chigger, time to get out the chips! lol youre videos are really cool and very entertaining keep making the great content man!!!
I love that there are artefacts which once found would be in a museum and treated with the upmost care but in the meantime get pushed around by animals who could not care less what they are pushing around, all they care is that it is in their way.
I live along the original Sandy beaver canal in ohio, not far from where Morgan's raiders were captured. I've always wanted the opportunity to detect it and the sites that are all along it. Just never really had the funds to get a detector, as a kid I went with my grandpa to Flint ridge Ohio to mine Flint and look for artifacts. Ever since my eyes have been on the ground. You videos are amazing and insperational, keep up the good work.
Cool hunt and great teaching video Beau!

Must be something in that catnip!😸Congrats on the awesome finds! I would love to find that stuff
Awesome video Beau! I loved it!!!!
I'm glad to see you in this location because it's like a class as you move through the processes of determining what is what with the site. You could work this location for several days before you are satisfied that it has been searched completely. It's also very good to hear the excitement in your voice again. Happy anew Year my friend, I hope you discover many sites this year that have the potential that this one does. The dirt has been moved around a lot. The newer is mixed with the old and both has been moved together. The ground hog may be living in the cellar hole from the looks of the depth and shape of the opening.
Nice hunt enjoyed watching. Thanks
I love your excitement! Giddy!
Very nice aquachigger! Always finding the good stuff.Would love to find the great stuff you do.No t so much here as far as metal detecting goes.Good luck friend and happy hunting to you!
Hi,I also use a lot of the metal detector in my free time, I live in Coral Gables(florida) and I use google earth to search parks and ancient places, I found many siver dimes, silver quarter, old ammunition and two morgan Dollar
In the desert of the southwest, I would look for knapping piles. Once you found one, which is not often, you would then walk in concentric circles around that pile you would look for depressions in the soil from lodging or fire pits and pottery shards. On the extremely rare occurrence you found all the above you had located an Indian camp, usually from 1,000 to 1,300 ad.
Yer on to it for sure. We have ground squirrels here that steal shiny objects and store them in their dens.
Really enjoyed this one. The farm-scene adventures are cool.
What a fascinating video! I really appreciate your skills and dedication to the hunt!
Woot! Nice one!
Wow, that was a lot of work but you had some great finds today👍👏🙋
Hi, I love the longer video's. Thank you x
Great video! You have to dig it all to get it all, looks like virgin ground... and soft dirt too.
I like all your videos and enjoy them very much. 😊
I definitely saw an 8 on the coin!!! Wow that is cool. The shoe buckle. You can just see a dandy strutting around with his shoes. Maybe he was a landowner?
Great finds. Enjoyed watching!
Great videos, I love them and don't mind the longer ones either
Well done mr chiggs always a pleasure to view your adventures ✌🏻👊🏻
