    Remember watching this PPV that night. For JR to have witnessed this this right in front of his eyes and still carried the broadcast and be as professional and articulate as he was that night takes an extra special something to do.

    You can tell in both JRs and King's voices, they knew that Owen wasn't going to survive this tragedy. King came back from the ring and his normal demeanor was drained out of his body. His friend and tag team partner Jeff Jarrett could barely make it to the ring. This changed people's perception of wrestling forever. Sadly, many more premature wrestler deaths would follow.

    @RejectedSpiritX Рік тому +36

    What many didn’t know that night is that by the time they loaded him up and wheeled him out, he had already died.
    Owen fell close to 80 feet (8 stories) and landed chest first on the top rope. The impact of his chest against the rope severed his aorta, and he bled to death internally within a few short minutes. I estimate it took him 8 minutes to die due to the aorta being the primary artery within your whole body. As far as I know, no one has ever survived that.

      @@ericbattle4597 the GCS measured a 3 (1 point on each function, the lowest scores apiece). In layman’s terms, it means either death is imminent or death already occurred. He scored a 3 for having already died because he bled to death minutes after impact.

      Yup. I didn't watch the ppv, it was my birthday, and I was out with friends. Heard as I left. When I got home I turned on the ppv channel where you could hear the announcers and the event was going so I thought I was lied to. Then I went on AOL chat rooms for WWF and quickly found out it was real.

      @@Kevin-tz2lv I wasn’t a die hard fan anymore but my mom actually told me the next day and I remember watching raw that night and remember Jeff Jarrett saying Owen was never a nugget. My mom was also the person who told me and my 10 year old buddies playing basketball that Mike Tyson got knocked out for his first loss. I think Owen, if he wanted to, could have been one of the best wrestlers of all time. He was kind of like Brett, but he could do the pretty shit like Shawn could. That’s just my opinion though. I remember him in one of the wrestlemanias where he fought Mr. perfect and he did something I’ve never seen before or since. Mr. Perfect threw him against the ropes and did a hip toss that Owen somehow in mid air did a kind of kick out where he blocked the move. He was fighting as the Blue Blazer
