Does anyone else remember where they were when they heard the news
Yup. I didn't watch the ppv, it was my birthday, and I was out with friends. Heard as I left. When I got home I turned on the ppv channel where you could hear the announcers and the event was going so I thought I was lied to. Then I went on AOL chat rooms for WWF and quickly found out it was real.
@@Kevin-tz2lv I wasn’t a die hard fan anymore but my mom actually told me the next day and I remember watching raw that night and remember Jeff Jarrett saying Owen was never a nugget. My mom was also the person who told me and my 10 year old buddies playing basketball that Mike Tyson got knocked out for his first loss. I think Owen, if he wanted to, could have been one of the best wrestlers of all time. He was kind of like Brett, but he could do the pretty shit like Shawn could. That’s just my opinion though. I remember him in one of the wrestlemanias where he fought Mr. perfect and he did something I’ve never seen before or since. Mr. Perfect threw him against the ropes and did a hip toss that Owen somehow in mid air did a kind of kick out where he blocked the move. He was fighting as the Blue Blazer
@Steve-v4i well there was one point, and you probably didn't see it bsck then...since you said you weren't really into at the time, but it was after bret left and they did a "black hart" gimmick...look it up if you haven't seen it.. owen and vince in the ring...he was SO over...then they buried the storyline
@@Kevin-tz2lv I do kinda remember that when he was being a big time asshole but why did they bury the story line
@Steve-v4i not sure, but probably Shawn's work. That and/or maybe vince didn't trust that Owen would stay
Because of stupid Bullshit like that... This is what made it even more hard until today.
Jr 🔥🔥🔥 RIP Owen
Who was the next match, following the accident/this announcement.. ?
So to clarify, Owen died doing a stunt that only the people in the arena were going to see, because the producers decided to show the interview over the stunt? My apologies for sounding callous, but that sounds like one of the most pointless deaths ever.
He was stepping off the ledge to dangle in place. Once the promo ended he was going to be lowered. Unfortunately the harness was not secure and he fell straight down unexpectedly.
I was young at the time but the more I see this the it pisses me off knowing it was an accident that should’ve been avoided.
Dude if you are still watching the comments. Can you please send the actual footage please.
Can you send me the unfiltered version
He can't, WWE will let it remove because of copyright claims.
Dailymotion.
I think the WWE was trying to copy what Sting was doing on Monday Nitro when he come down the from the ceiling as his Crow character
Obviously
damn and why would they name this ppv "over the edge"
Thata why it became Judgement Day next year
@@Busher50 Armageddon*
That’s why I think it was done on purpose, because what are the odds
@@092filmz it was, a year earlier same date, Batman Over the edge was released. And it has a plot where a man fell from above wearing a mask.
not only that but The Undertakers intro promo for the beginning of the ppv was very ominous to the foreshadowing of Owens death. a lot of things could be "conspiracy'd?" to the whole death of Owen that night. including the hardware used to hold him for the descent to the ring.
There's no way I wouldn't have done that stunt No Way! I'm afraid of heights so why would I be stupid enough to do it? Vince would've just have to fire me for refusing to do it I would've been fired but at least I would've still be alive
Why does the video make them look like non painted colored video?
Because WWE keeps removing the unfiltered videos people put up so he just used a wacky filter so they can’t claim it
It's kind of cool.
He had to. WWE or Martha would have gotten it taken down. You can find the Spanish version up.
I wonder why the picture is white?

0:04 you hear the impact ☹️ after the word tonight.
That is not when the impact happened.
Nope. It happened before that.
The fall happened when the video package for the Blue Blazer began to play.
Vince Russo at faults
Sad
Have the basic decency to spell his name correctly 😠 😢
Hernandez Dorothy Perez Jason Taylor Ruth
Considering all the dark stuff coming out about Vince..it's not to crazy to think he killed Owen for breaking Steve Austin's neck with that piledriver right when Austin was hitting his prime
That's the dumbest thing I ever heard
Owen's death was an accident. Plain and simple.
Soooo, did The Godfather win by default?
No Owen did after he came back later... you know Owen is still alive right 🤷♂️🥲. Yeah just a like Eddie and Benoit. This was a work to get him over as heelbabyface 😃🫡🤷♂️.
@@Thex-W.I.T.C.H.-xMaster o.O I had no idea this was a work. I knew Owen was still alive, I just figured Vince fired him for breaking kayfabe
