I grew up using a Norelco 400 series. I switched to this Series 3 and I was very disappointed. It irritated my skin during shaves, so I went back to the rotary. I decided to try a Braun Series 5, and I was blown away by the better shave and less irritation.
I might try a series 5, this is as I said a bit unrefined, though better than Braun shavers I have had in the past. I find the Philips to be better overall in this price range.
The third bottom light of the 3 is red and shows low charge light, its not green .The top 2 show are green only for showing the charge status as explained on page 11 of the manual It takes about 1 hr to charge to show 2 green lights , but the initial charge should be 4 hours and repeated if not used for a few months.
@@MrBazReviews i think it’s partly due to the fact my hair is really coarse and wirey so foil razors don’t work as well on me. probably would work better on a few day old shave

I use this and the Philips 3000, both on a regular basis. The Philips has the edge IMO for the neck area, easier to get a better shave. The Braun is better than I expected though, it does a nice job for a wet shave too. Hard to pick a winner, perhaps the Philips is a bit more refined/comfortable
I have the black one and replaced the head casket just like 1 month ago and did shave with the original for like 1 year and a half, device struggles a little bit with longer hairs and sometimes it pulls hair instead of cutting it (even with the new casket). For me the battery is empty in about 3/4 shaves so when travelling for a long time without power supply u might dont want this to take with you .

Great video Baz. I use a Phillips 3000 (s3233/52) razor at about the same price range. It shaves for longer and seems much more kinder than on my neck area. A lovely close shave.
I have the straight Series 3. I'm not sure exactly what the extra $20 gets you. It was $39 and this model ^^^ $59. It's a close shave. Pretty darned close to a blade - tho it takes longer and more effort than the blade. Given the price of blades, I think it's an acceptable substitute.
@@MrBazReviews oh I agree. So far wet seems closer. I'd say it's 90% of a blade shave for me. Especially since blades are $4-6 ea and probably going higher.

I watched this because the little plastic piece popped out, it looks like a " Y" shape with spring this video shows how it can be correctly repositioned. I agree that it shaves better using foam/gel or pre- electric shaving lotion. Cheers.
A rotary shaver is only good if you’re clean shaven but if you have a beard or goatee it will screw up your goatee or beard because of the circular motion instead of just going straight up and down.
