P.S (copied from my soundcloud) - I just wanted to say, Thank You and Rest In Peace Alphadream. Mario & Luigi: Partner's in time holds a special place in my heart to this very day. I have the fondest memories of playing this game when I was a kid.

Knowing the complete absurdity bros attacks can be, and that on average playthroughs both their LV is higher than Frisk/Chara can ever get to, with a body count spanning 35 years of essentially war with Bowser, and other games for each bro to back it up. This child's in for a battle far worse than Sans could ever be.
In regards to Chara, leave it up to Luigi the ghost catcher of 3 games, likely putting them in a painting. So long as E.Gadd doesn't sell the painting like he did King Boo, they won't be a threat.

I like how it’s basically canon that when a character is a ghost they draw them transparent and sometimes using grey/slightly darker colors instead of the main colors to indicate that they aren’t supposed to be visible, but can be seen by the watchers.
Luigi can probably see Chara, since he's quite familiar with ghosts

The way Bros stand parallel to Frisk and Chara implies that they can actually see Chara. And by extension could directly see their souls. Given the connection between souls and magic in Undertale. And the Bros being shown to manipulate magic to a low degree. It makes sense
Even against a single enemy The Bros always stand like that, alone they'll stand in the middle...

I mean they did learn how to manipulate fire and lightning without the use of a power-up in Superstar Saga, so there’s a chance that they understand magic.
At the very least Luigi would be able to see Chara, he's a known ghost hunter. Forgot what happened at the end of LM3 but I think Mario was able to see ghosts then too

Honestly, in a potential future Mario and Luigi game, I'd like to see a final boss that gives you "Max Control" (you get every single attack and ability from previous games)

Frisk is strong only because they only face monsters. They're just a child and any punch in the face from any human older then 14 would obliterate them

You know I came to this Comments section expecting a bunch of memes, but instead I got full on tactical breakdowns of how this fight would play out; not that I'm disappointed mind you, I'm actually very impressed and wished more Comments did this

You know, I thought it was okay at first, but when you started going in a completely unique direction that didn't necessarily correlate to the work you were deriving from?? That's when I started getting genuinely impressed. Originality is something I feel this fandom is severely lacking in, so seeing you taking so many creative liberties was honestly really incredible and sold me on the work. This is really, _really_ solid, and unlike most of the songs that follow this format, I fully plan to relisten to it.

People are joking about how easily the Bros. would win, imagine a boss that can actually dodge, _and can retry the boss fight just as much as you can._
They could just freeze them, cant dodge if you cant move, can also time stop, and the mario bros have 3 save files and they are both max level humans, so they might not even be able to access their save files.
@@dattos140 I'm not saying that frisk sucks or anything... They're pretty strong but Mario and Luigi are REALLY strong... Not only would Mario and Luigi be able to dodge, they wouldn't get tired unless the story forces them to, and frisk.... They might be a glass cannon... Frisk only has 99 HP while they do a SHIT ton of damage, unless you bring in BOTH of frisk and M+L's DEF stats... Sans didn't have that much defense and undyne could've one shot frisk if they didn't have that much armor, and Mario and Luigi havr basically as much DEF as frisk (maybe even more) now where this gets op is where Mario and Luigi dodge/ frisk dodging... If you're doing it RPG style, Mario and Luigi both can dodge and frisk can only target one at a time.... But I bet the second frisk (Chara) hits any of them, they would go down... Items are REALLY useful for Mario and Luigi... Both having at least 99 of every item while frisk can only have 9 of any item (might be mistaken and it might be 8) but if anyone wins, I doubt frisk could win.
This is coming from a person that has played both m+l games and Undertale... But I guess it really just matters what game they're in.

Gotta remember that the only people we've seen get hit by frisk are monsters and they are are hundreds of times weaker and more frail than humans.

I'd imagine that consistency is a death wish in this fight
After one or 2 uses a attack becomes entirely ineffective as they've learned to dodge it
Switching your attacks and never sticking to a pattern is key to dealing damage
Additionally attacks from frisk/chara would add in an extra attack at the moment you would normally use an action command. The first time it happens causes an unavoidable instakill due to an unexpected sideways slash hitting both bros while only "targetting" one. After that, all action commands are simultaneously available. (Secondary/trick attacks are as telegraphed as normal ones but you only have like .4 of a second to react to most of them in time)
@TrickyGamer, the Unpredictable thats not how that works, when it comes to dodging attacks you can use both the bros buttons.also i dont think a horizontal slash from a child with a knife would hit both especially if their going directly for one of the bros and not standing inbetween them

I feel like a mechanic this fight would have is the brothers having to pull one another out of the way of a slash, using mario's button to pull luigi out if the way and vice versa. I don't think you can jump over a vertical slash.
Your attacks would be perfectly dodged every time until the second phase when you figure out they use save states, you'd then have to disable their save with the mcguffin you got earlier on
XenoGuy, that's actually a _way_ more interesting idea than what I was thinking of, which was simply using the hammers to deflect the slashes
If you press the wrong button, the other brother takes the hit anyway. Or I guess the brother whose button you pressed just moves back when the other is down.

I could see Mario & Luigi with a Heart like Companion that was once one of the Humans that made the Barrier & helps Mario & Luigi with her magic, mainly by letting them remember resets, warp to save points they remember being in, & even negate a few resets, though doing this really taxes her.
She could even sacrifice herself to completely negate a true reset from happening long enough for Mario & Luigi to step in.
Though it may tax them, if your yoshi you can evade the taxes

@@thenon9107 the "Undertale variant" isn't any different. It just so happens that the characters in the game understood the premise of saves and resets. Technically, any game with the function of a save file has the exact same thing going on, just may not focus the plot on it
You know, if I recall correctly, the Monsters are super vulnerable to killing intent, which is why Chara is able to kill them with just a toy knife. (at least, until they get a real one.) If that's the case, Mario and Luigi should more or less stomp here.

Yeah that's valid until Chara ended the Undertale multiverse using a single slash attack. So LV must have a way to physically manifesting to do such a feat.

*Princess Peach and Bowser's parties are both rebuilding from recent events. What with Bowser still not recovered from his fight with the Dark Star and the Mario Brothers,* Princess Peach sees the perfect opportunity to allow the two heroes a vacation. Luigi, with his great experience travelling between his repeated trips to various mansions to capture ghosts to the time he travelled the world when Mario went missing, lead preperations for the trip, and, in no time at all, the brothers were on a flight to a far calmer country to enjoy three days of uninterrupted exploring. Halfway through their first day on the ground, at roughly noon, they came across a mountain with legends of missing people and horrifying monsters within. Mario and Luigi, the latter a bit less enthusiastic than the former, then explored along the mountainside. They soon found a cave housing ancient text carved into smooth, stone walls, pillars covered with moss, and masses of vines all around, feeding into a large, dome-like room with a chasm taking up the majority of the space inside. Luigi, peering into the depths below, lost his footing and slipped into the maw, Mario leaping in soon after. Little did they know that soon, the rumors surrounding this legendary mountain would present themselves as fact before their very eyes.
World Mechanics:
• While in the underground, a blend of the stylazations of UnderTale and M&L:BiS make up the menu designs, be they the equipment menu or the blocks Mario and Luigi select in battles. While menu selection is similar to M&L:BiS, the blocks and menus are stylized to fit UnderTale's aesthetic. The battle blocks, from left to right, are the Fight Block, used to select whether to jump or use the hammer and what enemy to attack with the blade graphic from UnderTale's FIGHT command, the Act Block to interact with the enemies and get them to stop being hostile towards you, using the image beside the letters from UnderTale's ACT command, the Special Attack Block used to issue Bros. Attacks with a graphic of three scattered stars, the Badge Block for switching Badge types with a graphic of a blank badge made of two seperate parts, the Mercy Block used to spare or flee away from the encounter and the enemies within it, and the Item Block to use items from the Bros' collective inventory. The menu to select specific actions from these blocks and to select enemies are almost identical to the inventory meny shown in the overworld of UnderTale when inspecting the items you have in-game, with a short explanation of the action below in a text box as though they used the Info command from UnderTale to gain more information.
• Mario and Luigi are capable of going to a lot more areas than Frisk ever was due to their ability to jump higher than their own height. Therefore, almost every area is more expansive for Mario and Luigi than it was for Frisk.
• The areas in the Underground have the same three dimensional effects as the overworld in Bowser's Inside Story while playing as Bowser did, resembling all the other sprite-based Mario & Luigi games in that sense.
*Having made many new friends, only one of which being human, Mario and Luigi resolved themselves to do what they can to make everyone around them as happy as they can before they return to the Mushroom Kingdom. In order to achieve that, they visit Alphys' Lab for the third time, finally getting to enter it for the second. Inside, nothing is changed aside from a note left on the floor in the center of the room. It states that the room that seems like a restroom is actually an elevator and that it is finally time for the brothers to learn the truth. The two enter the elevator only for it to malfunction and drop them into a dimly-lit lab. After encountering an amalgamate miniboss or two, the bros get to the D.T. Extractor, where Alphys was waiting for them. Alongside explaining the amalagamates, Alphys explains the function of the D.T. Extractor: removing determination from human souls. Alphys entrusts Mario with the last vial of determination that the Extractor produced, as well as the last existing one in her possession, and the three leave the lab together, Alphys feeling reassured that her friends will accept her, even after learning the horrible accidents that occurred when Alphys first discovered the properties of determination.* Soon after leaving the lab with the vial of determination, Sans the Skeleton, a resident of Snowdin Town and the brother of the great soon-to-be Royal Guard Papyrus, calls Mario's new phone, which Alphys made for him and Luigi to use to talk with their new friends. He talks about a serious situation involving the disappearance of multiple monsters and how Frisk, the brothers' newest human friend, could possibly be the one causing it. He then tells them to travel through the CORE and New Home to meet him before King Asgore is put in danger.
Making their way past *the room where Mettaton is fought, where Mettaton NEO's remains lay,* and into the Final Corridor, Mario and Luigi finally encounter Frisk for a showdown.

-For Mario and Luigi, Frisks main attacks would all revolve around the weapons found in the underground, though their first attempt will always be with the real knife on Luigi, which would be a hammer counter. Phase 2 would have chara take over Frisk's body
-For Frisk, the bro's main attacks would be variations of the bro attacks, starting with the shell. Phase 2 would occur when one of the bros faints, causing the other to use a 1 up mushroom the next turn and making their attacks faster

However, at level 20, which is the absolute according to Chara, they have 99 ATK and 99 DEF, which with the weapon and armor, their stats add up to 198 each with 99 HP, a huge spike from level 19. As for the bros., I know it isn't the most accurate thing in the world, but let's say they both have 115 POW, 106 DEF, and 63 HP at level 50. Of course, I'm not taking level-up bonuses or other stat modifiers such as beans, armors, or temporary boosts into consideration.
Now, bear with me, as I am going to use the basic RPG Maker MZ damage formula, since I don't want to give either game home advantage. The formula I'm using is a.atk * 4 - b.def * 2. It was really cool though, but I have to say... the native thunder and fire powers were only in superstar saga, and therefore we shouldn't consider them in this matchup - given that it's specifically Bowser's Inside Story M&L - but we should give a consideration to their badge abilities as how they work in BiS. Assuming that they fully charged their badges before the battle, Mario and Luigi could have up to a 4x POW bonus due to the Excellent!! Badge in combination with the Powerful Badge. However, a less risky combination to use would be the regular Excellent Badge, which when combined with the Powerful Badge gives them a x2 POW bonus. Both of which last for a single turn, but that single turn worth of doubled or quadrupled attack strength could potentially be what wins them the fight if they go first. Now I know you said you didn't include items in the battle, but the Badges aren't actually items you use from the items menu, therefore they may not fall under the "no items" restrictions

Hard to say how this'd go. Real world physics? It's a little kid and a ghost against two grown men. But this ain't real world physics.
In terms of numbers? Tough call. The way stats scale for Undertale and M&L are _kinda_ similar at a glance, but damage behaves quite differently.
Yeah, Frisk/Chara have plenty of LV, but the bros would, too. They've been fighting Bowser and his army for _years_ and have probably killed at least a few _hundred_ soldiers. Then again, how do 1up mushrooms factor in? They _do_ seem to be canon to the series, after all. Does a kill still yield EXP if the enemy doesn't (permanently) die?
And what of determination? Do the bros have it? I don't mean in terms of "being determined" but in Undertale's terms.
The biggest issue is this, though: we only ever see the damage Frisk does to monsters. Undertale's monsters are _very_ fragile compared to humans. Frisk isn't exactly known to be a physical powerhouse, either; all that destructive power comes from DETERMINATION and LOVE, not brute strength.
It might not sound like much, but for all we know Frisk/Chara might not even be able to do much damage to the bros.
Well, okay, that was the _second_ biggest issue. The biggest issue is that both sides can dodge. It's entirely possible for this to be a stalemate with neither side able to land a hit.
The bros have the advantage of counterattacking, so whilst frisk can simply dodge, the bros can dodge AND hit at the same time.

People forget that sans in scaled unbelievably high because the reason that asriel dreemur had an ATK and def of infinite and at the peak of dt frisk could take 6 hits from a infite being with timeline erasing capabilities hence the only reason when frisk puts their mind on killing everyone monsters start dropping like flies frisk is not a child frisk is a child turned demonic powerhouse through not only the players actions aswell as dt plus chara is demon of hate and all the lvl that frisk gains goes to chara waking them up hence the domination of frisk in the genocide run so we have a lvl 20 demon capable of doing 999*100 dmg and a lvl 1 frisk who is capable of fighting gods I doubt all that power is still gonna push em over to beat the bros but maybe 😎 p.s I was bored and listening to this song so I decided to write an essay in 5 minutes 😂
Also the only way sans could dmg lvl 19 frisk was by being smart altho he was weak and did 1 dmg he used his knowledge of the 4th wall and using karma for the sins of frisk he used the fact that if you do 1 dmg per hit your screwed vlbut if you do 1 dmg around 30 times per hit it doesn't matter how high your defence is as long as you can't do zero dmg sans can be weak and still give the human massive problems

Second Ability:The more stand users the user or stand kills,the more it’s stats will rank up. (Like let’s say that it had a C in durability and a B in strength,if the user kills enough stand users,their durability and strength stats will now be B and A.) in order for it to get a higher stat,it must kill 10 stand users. Even if it gets enough kills for all stats to be an A,it’s speed,precision,destructive power,strength,etc would keep growing and get more stronger,durable,faster,etc.
Third ability:Items. It will have a variety of items,depending on what item the users equips,it will change the stand a bit. If equipped with gloves,the stand will become a slightly weaker version of Star Platinum in terms of strength and destructive power only,the rest being equal. If equipped with a gun,it will become a very stronger version of Emperor and Mista’s Stand COMBINED. If equipped with a knife,it’ll become a weaker version of Silver Chariot in terms of speed,precision,and strength. (The stand’s durability is only better if Silver Chariot has it’s armor off.)

Even though he can still dodge while carrying mario, all his dodge maneuvers become slower and delayed. And in terms of turn order, that's debatable. There's no real speed stat in Undertale, only that Frisk has priority in every single fight except against Sans since he's a cheater, and Omega Flowey since he doesn't do the turn order thing.

People are forgetting that in some boss battles starlow will help you avoid 1 type of attack like in the bowser one when ever he shoot fire the bros have to grab on to starlow to avoid the fire so they would be able to avoid the knife slashes

i love how humanity just decided, “y’know what? let’s make art,” and bam, there’s a videogame track that literally tells you you can do anything.
The best part of this is knowing that, (ignoring save file reset abilities) Mario and Luigi win easily. Not only can they dodge attacks, just like Frisk can, but they can deal damage back through their evasion. Plus, Frisk is one person, but the bros have each other. They can perform insanely overpowered attacks, keep each other topped up, and one could literally carry the other bro if need be. It's crazy how powerful the Mario Bros are together. The only thing that makes them an equal fight is when they're separated.

Which means Mario and Luigi can beat Frisk. The 4th wall breaking power to save and come back with more knowledge applies to both sides. So this battle would be infinite.

But what weapon and armor does Frisk have? The Locket has 99 DEF and the Real Knife has 99 ATK. Also, what level are they? At level 19, which is where they get such weapons and armor, they have 46 ATK and 14 DEF, which with the weapon and armor, their stats add up to 145 ATK and 114 DEF with 92 HP. However, at level 20, which is the absolute according to Chara, they have 99 ATK and 99 DEF, which with the weapon and armor, their stats add up to 198 each with 99 HP, a huge spike from level 19. As for the bros., I know it isn't the most accurate thing in the world, but let's say they both have 115 POW, 106 DEF, and 63 HP at level 50. Of course, I'm not taking level-up bonuses or other stat modifiers such as beans, armors, or temporary boosts into consideration.
Now, bear with me, as I am going to use the basic RPG Maker MZ damage formula, since I don't want to give either game home advantage. The formula I'm using is a.atk * 4 - b.def * 2. I am also removing each character's ability to dodge and not including any items/bros attacks/DT in this fight. Frisk will be at level 20 and both bros. will be at level 50.
Assuming that Frisk goes first, their ATK power is 792 and a bro's DEF power is 212. At full power, Frisk would deal 580 HP of damage to a bro according to damage calculation. So Mario is down and now it is Luigi's turn to attack. A bro has 460 ATK power and Frisk has 396 DEF power. In the damage calculation, Frisk would survive with 35 HP, or die if Luigi uses a jump, or if KARMA was in effect, they would survive with 97 HP, considering how each hit deals 1 DMG, assuming Luigi uses his jump attack. Frisk's turn again, they would slice down Luigi quickly and effortlessly.

Realistically frisk would get crushed especially with how durable Mario and luigi are. The only reason frisk does so well against monster's is because of their killer intent which weakens the monsters by alot. They don't have that luxury with the Mario Bros.
Well the monsters aren't as solid as humans which causes them to die easier.

Hell attacks on mario and Luigi rom hack, the brothers will lose to much hp if they are hit, they have to take down the other player’s healing items to go forward (was unless they decide to restart)
Bullet hell attacks on Undertale rom hack, boots, hammers, fire and electricity, attacks can be harder if they decide to do a bro attack.the brothers also have high attack and defense, they can also heal and revive themselves and dodge. (the brothers lose defense and the attacks are easier if one of them goes down, you have to take out all their healing items and 1ups, they could maybe do resets and fight again but that would be decided later).

But let's consider the potential outcome of a hypothetical fight between Mario & Luigi and Frisk.
First of all general considerations:
- Mario & Luigi are HUMANS, meaning that Frisk’s effectiveness is probably massively reduced as Humans are far stronger in Undertale Lore
Also, just to mention it, M&L are two ADULTS. Frisk is a CHILD.
- I will only take confirmed material and gameplay into consideration so both parties stick to their canon abilities.
- Both parties retain their most important abilities:
- Dodging (both)
- Resetting (Frisk)
- Countering (M&L)
- Inventory (both)
- Duo interaction (two turns in one, healing each other, bros attacks) (M&L)
- Each party will fall for each attack only once, dodging (and countering) it consistently afterward.
- No access to items that are not inherently a part of the fight, like the inventory items.
Applying Undertale rules to Mario & Luigi would put them at the max level of 20 as they have gathered even more EXP than Frisk could ever hope to archive in one Genocide run. Being LV 20 means they would be out to do at least as much damage as Frisk does. They would also have the ability to dodge infinitely after learning the attacks, like Frisk. Important to note here is the lack of attacks that Frisk has, only having one kind of attack per item and for each of these items they carry they have one healing Item less. At their best, they have 8 different attacks and no healing items. If we assume that the bros filled their Undertale Inventory with each 8 1-Ups Frisk will be out of attacks before the 1-Ups are used up, which means that the bros won’t die. If we give the bros a collective inventory and Frisk one-hit attacks they will be able to kill one of the bros, but not the other before running out of attack options. They could also change equipment like Frisk. The bros would also offer a diverse move set which will surely make Frisk struggle.
Applying Mario & Luigi rules to Frisk means that they would have LOWER stats than both brothers individually as they haven’t earned as much experience as these do in just one game (they are also not even an adult nor a superhero!)
They would also need to learn each of the brothers' attacks, which are not few if we consider all duo attacks that make sense to apply here from all M&L games or even just the moveset from a single M&L game for that matter!
Now we assume that both parties have full inventories of 99 of each item from their respective game the bros outdo Frisk again, even if we were to give them a collective inventory! Frisk only gains one attack more but can probably survive all of the USUAL attacks but we also have to consider that Mario & Luigi can always COUNTER an attack, which means that after Frisk lands one hit, which will probably not even kill for the reasons above, they will be annihilated through the counter to their own attacks in the progressing fight. Sure, it will take a while but the bros come out victoriously.
Letting each work how they usually work in their own games makes it a little more questionable on the other hand, as we would need to translate the stats in some way but as we have nothing to gauge both strength levels on that is a very vague way to approach it. It can be assumed that Frisk’s stats will end up lower compared to Mario & Luigi in comparison, not being out to kill them with one hit but severely injuring them. But even if we assume that Frisk one-hits they can’t combat a full inventory of items.
Depending on the rules applied, both parties could gain the upper hand, but assuming both parties have full inventories and max-level stats, Mario & Luigi would likely emerge victorious due to their wide array of attacks, them being a duo, the being human and them individually having more EXP and LV and thus higher stats.
In the end, I would assume that Frisk kills one of the brothers a few times, never killing both, and would be killed by none of the attacks but die to the counters from M&L. If we even take the counters out of the equation it will probably be an infinite fight as both parties are unable to land a hit on the enemy after Frisk hit 8 times in their turns.

Yeah, countering is a very big advantage the brothers have... as long as they're able to do that, the fights won't be endless! Even if both parties have used up all of their attacks, Mario and Luigi would be able to beat Frisk, assuming countering itself doesn't count as an attack...
I mean, by that logic, shouldn't Frisk be able to memorize the counter-patterns too and develope a counter-counter? Wait no, that doesn't make sense. I forgot that they can't counter any attacks, but they could evade them, making the fights endless... yeah
Anyways, me personally, I don't see even the slightest chance for Frisk too. As you said, they're just a human child fighting against 2 grown-up super-human beings. If only it were for only one of the bros and even then... I think the results are pretty clear. Mario and Luigi have seen far worse!
A few things: counters could be dodged, the player is canon in Undertale

@@darkg_dg Even with the counter, I argue this is a stalemate. I argue that the player (and by proxy, Frisk) would learn to dodge the player counter. It's like how the Yellow SOUL mechanic is introduced in Deltarune, an unavoidable attack happens, until you are taught a new mechanic, then you avoid said attack.

This is actually such a big plottwist for Frisk and Chara. Just imagine it like this; Frisk/Charas power was the ability to always reset when they die. But according to Undertale lore, only the most determined one get the ability. In this case, this would be Mario & Luigi since they are in the protagonist role.
Sans, Undyne, Asgore all got killed by the power of Reset used my Frisk and Chara.

Imagine the absurdity of defeating Sans, and then having the Mario Bros walk in *behind* you and this starts playing. You cut them down, they just resurrect from a 1-Up and keep fighting. When their life counter starts getting low, Mario covers Luigi as the green bro pulls out a shell and bounces it off a wall, doing the infinite life exploit. They can’t die, you can’t die, the battle is at an eternal impasse.

For those who think this fight is a stalemate because both parties have the ability to SAVE, keep in mind Flowey literally states he too had the ability to save. Keyword there, 'had'. He explicitly tells you that he can't anymore because "Apparently YOUR desires for this world override MINE." This is proved by the omega / photoshop Flowey fight, where YOU lose your ability to SAVE to Flowey because he has more determination than you do thanks to the 6 human souls he stole. If this is the case, the Mario Bros would theoretically have higher priority since they have two human souls compared to Frisk's one. And no, Chara doesn't have a soul, they don't count.

Easy W for M&L because even if frisk used items, etc etc, the bros would still stop the attack.

The counter attack would cause the bullet board to be brought up immediately, causing Frisk to have time to dodge, along side the regular attack. Frisk can never hit the Mario bros. sure, but that just means if both sides play perfectly (counter attacking and dodging), there is just no way of reaching a conclusion at all.
