Love the beeping sound. We only had ugly screaming roller coaster thermals in Ireland this year. Rodeo rides holding on for dear life to keep the wing open. I did 55 turns in one thermal and gained no height due to a strong inversion. We fly sideways over the 40 shades of Green. Lovely Save Tim
Thanks! Interesting you’ve had boisterous thermals this year, we’ve had more mellow conditions than last year I’d say… I hope to fly in Ireland sometime… 🍀
Great save Tim! I actually had a very similar save during the Italian Championships, which I recored, and it was from 264ft (80 meters). It's such an awesome feeling when you climb high enough and you know you just saved a comp/xc day.
I love a good low save. Done loads in the past and they always cheer me up! Another great video Tim. You are really cracking some good flights this year....(and previous years)
Great flying Tim, definitely a difficult day but great to see the vid having watched your trace, gutted I cant rewind to Sat as I followed a low one maybe 3, 360s and gave up thinking it wasn,t there. Maybe just maybe having watched yours I should have stuck with it. Think I was more thinking about the main road and retrieval than flying till the end. Great vid to watch bud.
Cheers Mark, yeah I was almost in landing and pub mode before I decided to give it one last shot, but quickly switched into mincing mode once I had a sniff of it!
Great job Tim! Another entertaining watch. At around minute 13 in the video when you briefly lost the climb and rejoined it it before it got stronger, it seemed like the core was downwind of you? And you flew back to catch it. Is this accurate? What sort of windspeed did you have this day? Many thanks! 😊
Thanks! Yes you’re right, there was definitely a stronger core downwind. I don’t know whether I lost the climb because I accidentally pushed too much into wind, or whether it was just weak and fizzled out, but once I’d lost it the only direction it made sense to go was downwind because of the sun on the ground and the village… I guess the windspeed was between 20-25kph
@@TimPentreath cool thanks for that. Makes sense as I also thought you drifted a lot right at the start of the low save, but as you say thats probably also due to the shade chasing you!
I use this where/whenever I fly… ClimbToneOnThreshold=0.1 ClimbToneOffThreshold=0.1 SinkToneOnThreshold=-0.1 SinkToneOffThreshold=-0.1 tone=-10.00,200,200,100 tone=-2.00,293,200,100 tone=-1.99,293,700,82 tone=-1.00,320,651,29 tone=-0.99,320,350,10 tone=0.00,374,200,5 tone=0.01,432,500,10 tone=0.41,521,399,35 tone=1.00,617,335,50 tone=2.05,772,275,50 tone=3.74,996,228,50 tone=10.00,1830,95,50 I found the default tones really dead - they didn’t do such a sensitive instrument any justice at all.

Thanks! And well done on yours too…! As you say, it really is the best feeling 👍🏻👍🏻
Inspirational as always.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Brilliant low save Tim
Thanks as always Russell 👍🏻👍🏻

They’re so satisfying but I wish I didn’t need them 😂
Nice save Tim! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Rod, hope all’s well with you…

Epic save
Cheers Sonny!
Wow what a beautiful sky. Patience too 👍
It was such a good day considering it’s the end of the season, and yes, it was a beautiful sky 👍🏻
What a dance this was.
Sure was!
Sweet save!
Thanks!

Great low save!! 👍 Do you use more sensitive xctracer profile for weak thermal days? Can you share your profile?
I use this where/whenever I fly…
ClimbToneOnThreshold=0.1
ClimbToneOffThreshold=0.1
SinkToneOnThreshold=-0.1
SinkToneOffThreshold=-0.1
tone=-10.00,200,200,100
tone=-2.00,293,200,100
tone=-1.99,293,700,82
tone=-1.00,320,651,29
tone=-0.99,320,350,10
tone=0.00,374,200,5
tone=0.01,432,500,10
tone=0.41,521,399,35
tone=1.00,617,335,50
tone=2.05,772,275,50
tone=3.74,996,228,50
tone=10.00,1830,95,50

Nicely done
Cheers Richard!
What time was your low save Tim? Not an easy climb that so well done. I thought I saw a bird with you about 5:55 also
Ah 14:32 I see from your track and a good 12 mins before you were defo going up.
Thanks Mike, and yes, it was with me briefly but I lost sight of it...

Its like porn to me, But can you immagine how boring this must be for people Who do not fly themselves? 😂 very Well done Tim!!!
Haha, luckily I know my target audience 😂
I think it’ll take more luck saving HS2 😂
😂
