- The first week of the 2024 CrossFit Games semifinals has come to a close!
In Europe, we had 10 women, 10 men, and 8 teams punch their tickets to the CrossFit Games.
In Asia we had 3 women, 2 men, and 1 team.
I'll wrap up what happened and give you my perspective on the weekend.

It was great semis. Even the last person who finished at the bottom is still among 0.1% of CrossFit athletes .. mind blowing 🤯
Very, very true. The least fit person at semifinals is so much fitter than the average human.
Linda nearly made it the last two years, falling just short both years and even more heartbreaking in 2021, she contracted covid during the open and was as such not allowed to go to the gym to do the open within the timeframe so her season then stopped before it started. Now she's finally made it and I'm SO excited for her!! She used to work at FitAid but gave up that job not too long ago to go fulltime athlete. She trains with Training Think Tank under Max El Hag and has been going there for a couple months the past years to actually be there in person, in her day-to-day live she trains at Vondelgym which you might remember from a couple times that there was a team by that same name. Hope that helps!
Also, I'm sad at Crossfit Gymert not making it :( Last year they came in 11th (as crossfit Nijmegen), then CrossFit takes away qualifying spots (still mad about that, in general, but especially within the Europe region with how stacked it is) and they better themselves by two places and still come up 1 spot short.

Ahhh, you got a Golden State Valkyrie shirt!? I've been watching your videos since the open and am a big WNBA fan.
I did! I did a story on the new team for my actual job (I work for the CBS affiliate in San Francisco) and I was near the Warriors Shop at Chase Center, they’re selling Valkyries gear there. So I bought a sweatshirt to support the team!

Horvath was solid, Toomey should be worried. You heard it here first.
Fiebig always does this. Has all the hallmarks of a great crossfitter but to date looks like an also ran at higher level conquests. I think he has a little bit of the Gui syndrome - very strong in weights and strength but his cardio let's him down. Won't make the progress that his promise suggests unless he can be an all rounder on the finals stage. 🧐
That’s a good comparison! Lucky for Fiebig he has some help from a really fit European field that keep him in the mix even with a few bad finishes. For Gui, if he has one bad finish, South America just doesn’t have enough athletes to middle between the best to take points away from someone like Richelme. One bad finish for Gui will tank him.
