hey guys, the next parts will have more footage. Feel free to comment suggestions and feedback. english isn't my first language, but i am working on it. This is the first part of my documentary of the great career of the Manassa Mauler Jack Dempsey. It documents his journey from his start as 16 year old Kid Blackie to his victory over Fred Fulton that would secure him a fight against the champion Jess Willard. The video shows you enhanced and rare film footage of Jack Dempsey.
Jack described the guy on the train who helped him as a real life cowboy, spurs and all. Considering Jack would go on to live until 1983, it's amazing how much change in the world he would have seen.
I met Jack demsey with my mother at his famous restaurant in 1974, a great man, shook his massive hand, a big, straight, my mother was more impressed than I was, especially since she grew up during his era, thanks for the memories and keeping this relevant
I have the book life of Dempsey, he going home from his restaurant ,takes a cab. two guys open both doors on both sides and say give us your money old man.Dempsey knock both guys out without getting out of the cab. true story
@@johnlegg8559I love that story, they both refused to get up until the police arrived after he knocked them down. A Flame of Pure Fire is a compilation of all the best bits of Dempsey’s autobiographies. Bit wrong of him to do that but cos of it I think it’s the best biography of him, my favourite autobiography of his is the one he did with his daughter called Dempsey, I think I’ve read almost every book on him except the one about the long count
A great case study in the early life of Jack Dempsey, aka: Kid Blackie. Jack had a real tough young life. He worked as a miner, he would fight all comers in many Colorado bars in addition to his professional fights. Life was tough for America in the early 1900's. Going hungry was a common occurrence with many, Jack was no different. He worked in the dangerous, hard ass work of the mines in numerous Colorado cities. Small mining towns like Cripple Creek Colorado was another town Jack worked in and fought in. It was during this time that a young Doc Kearns met Jack Dempsey and the rest is sports legend! Thanks for this well done and researched video on Jack Dempsey in his early years as a boxer.
Going to be hard to make a follow up to this one cos it’s so good. Amazing that they tried to film not only Dempsey-Fulton but as you discovered Dempsey-Miske! I’ve been collecting films for nearly 30 years and have dealt with some serious life time collectors and had never heard of them before, brilliant research and findings
Dempsey fought like a heavyweight Roberto Duran. Same pressure tactics, same sophistication, which is hard to spot sometimes because they were so ferocious and hit so hard.

The first superstar of Boxing, the tough and the great Jack Dempsey,....such a destructive and brutal fighter in his prime,...he'd blitz opponents with his ferocious powerful attacks and possessed a left hook from hell.....he had one objective when he entered the ring,......to obliterate his opponents,....awesome fighter
Hello could you do documentary on Jack Brazzo a former heavyweight boxer of the 1940s , who later quit to pursue a Hollywood career known as Jack Palance a American Ukrainian from the Latimer mines in Hazelton.
Fred Fultons final record by the ring magazine was 81-15-4 with 72 KO’s which makes Dempsey’s first round stoppage of him even more incredible. Mad that you found film of it, even if it doesn’t show anything is such a shame
That was one of his best wins. I now have two good frames as picture. There is no way to restore. Maybe with new generative ai i can make something in a few years
@@LegendsofBoxing I’d never heard that they even tried to film it, you done some great work on the first episode it’ll be hard to make a follow up. I still am unsure about sending the tape off to that company, I want to see and share it as short as it is but if I did all you would have to do is open a P.O. Box, well you can in my country and I’d send it to that. Just need to see if I can spare the money sometime
