Son Wukong is the inspiration for Son Goku (in Japanese) or Sonogong (in Korean). The lyricist, composer and main producer of this song (Woozi, the first singer) is a big anime fan.
Something interesting about this song is that its inspired and an ode to DRAGON BALL. Sonogong is what they call Son Goku in Korea. The lyrics mention the flying cloud, the power pole and that is why they keep putting their two fingers on their forehead because its a reference to Goku's instant transmission move - something they even jokingly did in the behind the scenes choreography. Notice their clothes and hair as well - For example, the denim TRUNKS and jackets used by most members in the song. Scoups (the guy in all white who raps and is on the human cloud, has a red tinted mullet) hair is reference to Super Saiyan 4. (Yes, I know ancient mythology has a character that Son Goku from Dragon Ball was even based on as well that had all the similar things - however, SEVENTEEN talked about the song being specifically a tribute to DRAGON BALL since they're all huge anime fans - you can find videos on it) The lyrics at the end also mention a line which has the translation in english to be "this is the cartoon's ending credit song" (which is why you hear MANHWA and the choreography at that part is them miming flipping through pages). The choreography also had Dino (the blonde guy) doing a slight nod at the camera with a kamehameha hand movement towards the camera as a transition. They also mention the Spirit Bomb in the lyrics with reference to raise your arms to the sky and even the "PING" and "ener-ener-gy" Another interesting thing is THE8 (thy guy with the long mullet in traditional clothes who makes a standout entry and appears after the sky sequence at the very end when the beat switches - has metal fingers essentially) was injured during this time. His collarbone was fractured which is why he appears for a certain part of the song only and restricts his left arm's movement. The cool thing is before the8 appears, the sequence of the galaxy with a 'falling star' or beam is seen which is a reference to the dragon balls that are scattered instantly in a similar fashion after you make a wish - something the characters in DRAGON BALL did often to bring back people from the dead in the anime. So the sequence happening before THE8 appears is a slight nod of sorts at how they used the dragon balls to 'wish him back' since he appears after it beams through the galaxy.
Thank you for your good comment. Furthermore, the song also shows the journey of "SEVENTEEN". This team is self-produced. And their catch copy this year was "Team SVT". They said their team also included "fans".
Seventeen is one of the Kpop industry's very first self-produced idol groups, this means that the members of Seventeen are the ones that create everything themselves, with help and advice from Pledis Entertainment's choreographers, songwriters and rap producers when needed. But the majority of everything you see and hear is created by the members and the professionals are only consulted or asked to assist to bounce ideas off of and to finetune things, etc. For example Woozi (the one who appears first in "Super") who is the leader of the vocal unit, wrote, composed and produced "Super" with the help of the rest of the vocal unit -- Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan. Hoshi, who is the leader of the performance unit (dancers), most often creates the group's choreography along with input from the other members of the performance unit -- The8, Jun and Dino. And S.Coups, who is the leader of Seventeen and the leader of the hip-hop unit, usually writes the rap sections with help from the other members of the hip-hop unit -- Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon. Seventeen's name comes from the fact that they have 13 members + 3 sub-units (Vocal unit, performance unit and hip-hop unit) + they come together as 1 group = 17. Their fandom name is Carats -- like Seventeen carat diamonds. And their symbol is a diamond. To find 13 young men, who really didn't know each other before becoming a group, that are so multi-talented is impressive. And the fact that they are constantly able to come up with hit after hit and maintain one of the top spots in the industry all on their own, makes them even more mind blowing.
seventeen has always been thirteen since debut, no member has left. everyone assumes there’d be/was 17 members since that’s the group’s name (while that was the initial plan of their agency, they didn’t stick with this idea as can be seen)
Seventeen members have 2 chinese members (jun and the8) 😁 There are 13 members, 3 sub unit (performance, vocals and hiphop) and 1 group that's why they are called Seventeen! 😊 Please kindly react to Seventeen in Lollapalooza, you'll enjoy it!
