- This is my scale rc Fishing Boat Build this boat is 100% home built, home made including the hull, topside, outriggers, tuna tower, motor mount, etc. The next part of the series I will build an immersed rudder for the boat.
In this video I build a stuffing Box using raw brass and copper tube www.offshoreel...
I also show you how to make and assemble a easy grease fitting so you don't have to remove your shaft from the boat to grease. www.offshoreel...
fairly simple stuffing box to build at home using minimal resources, keeps the boat dry and the shaft greased without pulling the shaft from the boat every time you need to grease.

Thanks for sharing and bringing back some good memories.
I CNC machined a oiling system for a friend of mine with a mounting bracket for his RC race boat. I made a reservoir to hold enough oil for a 10 lap race. It dripped the oil at a steady rate through a metering hole to provide lubrication during the race. I even made a spare that I keep in my home display case. I had a friend of mine powder coat it. Ha Ha
That's awesome man I bet it turned out great. Thanks for sharing
Excellent video, gives a good insights how stuffing box works.
Very good job! And thanks a lot!
Dude thanks for this video! It showed so much knowledge for us new guys.
Glad I could help
Hope you will get well soon, in the meantime i see you make beautifull things! respect
Wanting to build a kit boat and this was what I needed to know. That it should be done after finishing, the angle and approximate length. Balance length wise should have the boat level with everything placed.
Very awesome as always, hope you get feeling better soon BIG B
Hello! Thanks for sharing the process. I have a question, how to know the location where to put the shaft on the boat? I'm not sure if the boat is going to tip up, or sink down based on the location of my shaft at the moment
The grease fittting is clutch bro . Great addition
Thanks brother
Awesome job, my Dood.
Coming along nicely , I really like the grease fitting . I can see IRONCLAD on the rear quarter panel on each side and maybe on the transom lol . Hope U feel better. Prayers for U and your family . . .
I think I'm gonna name her the Bill collector, possibly IRONCLAD 🤔
Hey man, nice way to set up shaft kit! Liking the grease dam! Very clever. Doing a reno on an old Royal Barge boat my Dad built. So will fit same set up into it👍🏻
Thanks brother. I've used this set up, in the past on other home-made boats, trouble free, and very easy to maintain. Takes some pre planning but very easy to build once you have all the right materials.. good luck with your build.
very helpful information 👍🏻
Great project 😊👍 looks amazing 👍.
I'm a bit worried about your driving skills and need for speed 😂😊👍
I'm waiting on Madshark F1 brushless boat will upgrade that selfrighting
This one isn't made to go fast.
@@IRONCLADRC That's cool I'm sure you'll have some adventures.I have a wee Joysway madshark brushless turning up they were cheap, bit better than wltoys
do you recommend making 3 of these
BigB your know how is amazing, I am having alot of fun following along... I now speak healing into your body! In the mighty name of Jesus. 🧑🦽🧑🦯🚶🏃BB
I'm healed!!! Omg. Thank you so much. Haha. Thanks brother
very well done video...so that is basically a fitting used for cooling jacket? couldn't you also just have a plastic snap on lid for that fitting instead of removing it and using a grub screw??? I have my old surge crusher cat i am thinking of putting a grease fitting on since the 5mm flex has to be removed from the motor end to grease... i did change it 4mm 12 years ago ,but flex broke,so i am using the stock beefy 5 mm again..PS.. i just thought of how to cap that fitting...there are these plastic pellets designed to be put in hot water and within 20 seconds you melt them and make a ball and you have 1min to mold it anyway you want... when it cools it similar to nylon... all you need to do it form a cap right on that fitting(it wont stick) you made and after it cools pop it off. it forms perfectly and has some flex and it not brittle at all...i paid like $4.00 for a few hundred..enough to make a few sets of teeth lol.. thanks again...I just realized a 1/2 piece of tubing with a nylon screw plugging one end is even better..
It didn't leak grease so I basically keep the grease fitting on the whole time. No need for grub screw.
@@IRONCLADRC maybe this is a dumb question, but i never used grease fittings on any rc boats...i see you have them sticking out on struts etc... same fittings??? and all can be filled using large surige and a piece of fuel line???thanks
More than you need
Hey bro, just wondering if you have ran the proboat 36” sonic wave and if so what your thoughts on this boat are? Thanks
I use to have to v1 sonic wave. It's a solid boat, really all you need to do is add a secondary cooling circuit. I'd get the sonic wake over the impulse any day.
@@IRONCLADRC cool. And it looks like tou can run a single centered 6s lipo if you want to , yes?
Yes sir. Actually works best with a single cell lipo.
@@IRONCLADRC hell yeah , thanks for the info , which you sir, are a fountain ⛲️ of .
Mind if I ask where you got the gauges? I need some for my tugboat. Thx.
I made them with a plastic rod/dowel cut thin & hand painted
@@IRONCLADRC hand painted? 😟 I was hoping decals or something. I found some, but they are way two small and $$$$. Thx! BJ24 upgrades are going well.
One day you may get into auto oilers.
I started to make an auto oiler for the boat I had am old airbrush cup and lid that would of been perfect for automatic oiler. Thanks for watching
How did you hold the shaft into the vice with out having it spin wile you are threading it?
Lite pressure very lite in the vise with a brass tube over the shaft in the vise. I had 4 plastic clamps under the vise clamped onto the shaft. So it wouldn't spin and stay straight.
Do you remember what is and where to get the material to use to install fitting into ?
Offshoreelectrics.com is the best place to get parts.
Here's the k&s tube link
www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=Stuffing+tube+%26+mounts&PARTNER=ironclad
@@IRONCLADRC I'm not finding sleeve to put fitting in
@CJINDY I made that custom from a piece of brass drilled and tapped
How can you ensure that water will not enter in the shaft to the boat?
You need a tight fitting stuffing tube pack fulled of grease as a barrier to block water from entering.
Use a rag dude spare your fingers
