A wonderful guide! How you did the wiring really helped because I was reading the comments while watching and couldn't understand the 'Don't plug into the MB'. It's the best guide I've seen yet for this. It's just made me want one even more now though.... :)
Awesome video, I went ahead and bought the 3 pin to molex adapter and powered pump straight from the power supply unit. I plugged two radiator fans to cpu_fan and cpu_opt to get pwm fan control by motherboard. One thing for sure, I tried top mount push, and front mount push, and the stock fans are too loud even after custom profile. In the front mount position (push), the stock Corsair fans create annoying whining noise. Can't wait until some Noctuas get here.
I can't find it in any other comments, so: I think the reason why the Corsair Link cable points up on the H110i is because it's long enough to be routed along the back off the motherboard. I have a normal ATX motherboard with the USB header on the motherboard and I can route it through the cable management holes of the case and still have a little length over.
man this wc tech has really come a long way I remember going to the L.A. Super Computer Show out in Pomona in the late 90's early 2000's and I remember seeing for the first time a water cooled system that was being shown as I remember the tubing was made of plumbing copper and for rad they had a custom built small rad then a year later they started showing it with plastic tubing the copper tubing was eliminated and the water blocks were also very detailed don on cnc machine but the guys were selling the system for like $400-600usd and the talk in the crowd was that will never work it will leak and fry your system, now ffwrd to today and look at it now, the real techies always said oh it will work it just needs time to be refined and fitted like all tech hardware. Oh boy I was only in my teens back then, I never buy a prebuilt system I always built them myself except for my laptops lol, good video man I just picked up both the GT and GTX one for my last rigg and the other for my new beast
You're the bomb! when I plug that little sucker on the motherboard the temp goes up to 60 and above. had to look for those adapters you talked about in a silver briefcase of mine. It's good that I kept those adapters when I removed a couple of cool NorthQ aluminum fans from my old rig. Thanks a lot!
The USB header connects facing upwards on the 110i GTX because then you can route the cable up and then behind the motherboard cage just like it shows in the manual. this gives you a cleaner look.
wow guy you are my hero!! stupid me i just spent an hour trying to do figure out how to wire the h100i gtx to my nzxt h440 case total FAIL you gave me all the answers/solution in like 15 seconds!!!
I just picked the 100 V2 version up recently... 2 things.. 1) if you're having trouble taking off the pre-installed intel bracket: - i took a thick sock, placed my hand inside, and with the copper base facing me and supporting the pump with my other hand, i pressed down on all four points of the bracket and turned counter clockwise instead of clockwise as described in manual. 2). Don't over tighten any screws... Especially the thumbscrews used to secure the bracket to CPU. Too much torque will break the screw into the thumbnail screw
This video is so much more detailed than the instruction manual. It's just one or two sentences per page iwth one drawing that is not always clear enough in my opinion.
The old H100i has one of the loudest fans out there, needed to order separate pwm sp120s to accommodate for that. I hope this version got their fans replaced.
I know you have to remove the thermal paste from the CPU when switching coolers but doesn't the h100i come with the thermal paste pre applied? So didn't he just have to mount it to the CPU already?
Quick tip to anyone looking to install this or other AIO coolers , fit the AIO header before inserting your motherboard, reason is not all Cases allow access to the back of the mobo once installed, also you avoid the awkward moment you see in this build where he is struggling to fit the header ,
I have a Z170-Deluxe motherboard I used a NXT IU01 Internal Usb expansion to add more usb headers and plug the fan wire to the psu grid not the fan header if you plan not to overclock your cpu then it is fine to plug it in the fan headers I learn my lesson on my second CPU and I can still controll the fan in different ways with the Corsair software.
Thank you for posting. Overall this is a very helpful video, but I must take issue with "one of the best manuals I've seen". This manual is one of the WORST I've seen, and here's why I say so: 1) The diagrams are well drawn, except for one of the most important parts - the standoff screws - where you have to differentiate between screw size. If you look at Step 2, the screws are very poorly drawn. 2) In the Intel section, the manual mentions NOTHING about color coding, a CRUCIAL discernment, again for the standoff screws. Screws for AMD are black, as you mentioned, and Intel are grey/gun metal. You absolutely cannot tell them apart by looking at the manual. Were it not for your video, I would have used the wrong ones and had to re-apply the heat sink compound. You have to read the AMD section in order to see that the AMD screws are black. 3) There's nothing in the manual about the backplate having "play" once the standoff screws are attached. Again, as you mentioned, this appears to be normal. This disconcerting anomaly was the reason I sought help in the first place. 4) If you plan to use the fans inside the chassis, common sense would tell you to attach the fans before mounting the radiator, but again, no word from the manual. I think you mentioned this as well. 5) "Step 5: Connect Power to Fans and Pump." Horrible. On my unit, the H110i GTX, there are FOUR power cables coming off the water pump, and they have: a) a SATA connection; b) a 3-pin connection; c) a 4-pin connection; d) a 1-pin connection. The manual states: "Connect the pump power cable to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard." No. There is no SATA connection on my motherboard, nor, I believe, on ANY stock motherboard. "Connect the fans to the two connectors coming off the pump." Again, the connectors coming off the pump have 3- and 4-pins. The fan connectors will fit into either pump connector. Which one goes to which? And finally, where does that leave the 1-pin??? By trial-and-error, I figured out that you should attach it to the CPU_FAN header. Corsair should be chastised, not praised, for this wholly inadequate manual. You spend, in my case, $140 USD, and you expect not to have to make assumptions about critical issues. I might have been better off throwing the manual away. Anyway, thanks again.
Not enough explaination in the videos, the viewers are confused after watching the videos, also with the molex cable, tell your viewers why never to plug into the mobo.
Good Video but why are you pulling the Warm Air from Inside the Case? Why dont you mount the fans to the Suck the cooler Air from Outside through the radiator?
Great video. Can I use the SP120 Red Led fans or equivalent on a Push configuration? I'm thinking of using the 100iGTX over the 110iGT in my case. I already have my AMD FX9590 running on the stock cooler but would prefer it to be cooler. My case is the Corsair Obsidian 750d so should have room for any configuration you suggest.
When you bypass connecting to CPU_Fan header, doesn't the motherboard recognize that and give you a CPU Fan Error upon booting up the PC? If so, how would you go about bypassing that?
+Saint Nicholas Most MB BIOS allow you to set it to ignore the error. You could also simply plug the fans into the CPU header....or any pf your case fans.
Ah I have a Maximus VIII Hero and for some reason, plugged into my CPU Header only runs my pump @ 800-830 RPMs - Did manual adjustment to full but it didn't change
okay I have a question. I'm getting the h110i GTX and I'm using an nzxt h440. I'm going to use my noctua 140mm fans on the 280mm rad in a pull config but I'm seeing 2 different ways of setting it up. I see some putting the fans on top of the rad and then mounting it to the case and then in your video here I see you mount the rad to the case and then put the fans on top of it creating a small gap between the rad and the fans due to the case. Like the fans sit on top of the metal of the case. Which way is better? or proper?
I plugged my h100i Gtx into motherboard and installed correctly, it has power but when it goes to bios it says the cpu fans are not available and my cpu quickly goes up to 80-90 Celsius. Very worries and not sure what to do.
Thanks so much for this video. Just got my H100i GTX, and wanted to watch something before trying to actually install it, and this was a pretty clear guide. Still gonna use the instruction manual, but visuals help so much. Only variance is that I plan on changing out the paste for some Arctic Silver, because it's sorta the CPU paste I've been following since it came out. XD
Thanks! However you could show us where is that USB header on a motherboard. Also, there is a SATA cable attached to the cooler, would be nice of you to show where to plug it since the manual does not mention it. Oh, and one last thing. I had a hard time understanding you many times throughout this video. Other than that - great!
You said that plugging the pump into the CPU fan header would provide constant 12V power, why did you then recommend using a 3-pin to molex/sata instead? From what you said they both do the same thing.
+TheIgnorantBastrd Simple answer - Asetek pumps have a nasty habit of drawing more than their rating at startup, and also tend to dead short when they fail. Your PSU provides protection for both of these issues, while your MB headers do not and would be damaged.
For the H110I GT, at 9:17 he explains that 3pin 1 wire dummy plug, do you put that anywhere? I'm having trouble installing the h110, upon boot up it tells me there's a CPU fan error. any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
To get my tubes in a good orientation i rotated the CPU block 90 degrees (corsair logo is now vertical). Is this bad for the pump? My temperatures are pretty good but just concerned if it puts strain on the system?
Hi! I just took this I said AIO but after mounting the blackplane and the 4 double screws there is a play of about 1 + mm! it's normal? somebody says to assemble rubber washers
Why don't you use the CPU FAN? With a font better is? I have H100i GTX, but here appear "CPU FAN ERROR" and "CPU OVER TEMPERATURE ERROR". Can you help me?
Did anyone notice the second installation the heatsink looks crooked by an inch angle? I heard they have a lot of issues like that in forums. I wish they would have their plate lined up straight more but the cooler is effective anyways. I have an H100i myself for more than 4 yrs and still running.
I have the H100i GTX. Do i have to put my fans like you did? Also, my monitor does not detect anything when i turn on my PC. It also does not detect/light up my keyboard/mouse/firefly. It does give power to my Blue Snowball but that is about it. All of the lights in my PC do turn on and show that everything is working. Someone please help me. Thank you.
I have a question. I have the H100i GTX and i would like to put the 2 fans into the motherboard cpu fan headers, rather then to the Cable thats on the H100i GTX. I want to use the Asus Ai suit for fan speed controlling. The Corsair Link is not that good of a program. I know that i can use both programs at the same time, but the pump wont let Ai suit controll the fans.
My motherboard is Asus Z170-WS and I got H115i cooler with it, but I think my motherboard only has 1 USB 2.0 connecter, and my case also has a wire for it, what do i do?
Iam gonna do it, because i am getting a 280mm rad, and i want to have it on top of my case, but there is only room for either 2 140mm fans or 1 240mm rad, so i am going to connect it as pul config, so i can have the h115i on top..
i have 2835 rpm max pump speed,is that normal because i saw on UA-cam almost everyone has 3000+?also i accidentally scrapped the preapplied paste in thin line(by 2,5-3cm long) should i replace with new paste? please response
thanks man. my silver mounts were missing and i was trying to install on the black mounts for intel. the very words. "silver is for intel" made things very clear. now i have to buy some silver mounts. :-( - great video
I have a question. Does it matter which orientation you install the radiator at in the top of the case. The corsair video on their website installed it the other way around so that the cables from the radiator blocks the back fan of the case. This way of installing the fan seems much worse since it blocks the exhaust fan at the back of the case. Does it matter how i orientate it?
@7:34 where are you plugging the two fan connectors to? One of them have 4 pins and another 3 pin. They're male connections and I'm not sure what the female end is. I'm able to turn my machine on but Link doesn't detect my device and my fans are spinning at full rpm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
im building a pc and i'm kinda confused does it come with the water inside of it already? all you need to do is hook it up to the cpu plug it in and everything should be ready to go?
Did u use any thermal paste to install the kit. If yes which one ? If no, then did u clean the stock thermal or u just let it be and install the kit on top of it. Thanks
+Mrtyumara666 No, this is a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe. While you are researching....you may want to research the Swiftech H240-X2 or H220-X2. I would highly doubt you would be caring of the Corsair fits after doing that.
Hey, for some reason my cooling system came facing the other way around (??) meaning the hoses point to the left side ending up right in front of the back side fan, so, in order for air to flow without obstacles straight to the back fan, i turned it around leaving it exactly as it is in your setup (with the hoses on the right side) but everything is backwards, like the corsair logo on the pump is facing upside down, and the corsair logo on the side of the radiator is also facing down, do you think that matters? is that gonna have an effect on it? i mean i don't care about the looks but i want to make sure it's ok and it's not gonna damage the system.
when u mentioned using the molex to 3 pin adaptor have you run into issues using the cpufan header? Reason i ask is i just got a MSI gaming 7 mobo and the pump works thru the usb but the fans arent turning hooking it into the cpufan header. Any ideas .Thanks for the help.
I have zalman GS1000 PLUS case and just struggle to fit the top mounting in zalman case for fans have different mounting point also there is no place because there is memory clip on the motherboard and power connector for motherboard which make this think impossible to mount where supposed to be only solution is to detach hoses and put all thing outside the case but in that case I lost warranty this set sadly doesn’t work with zalman cases
Can you just plug the fans themselves directly into the motherboard headers and just plug the pump power 3-pin into a molex? That way you can still monitor your fan speeds.
Installation is pretty straight forward. I heard that corsair is know for not being compatible with all cases that support 240mm. Was wondering if that's true? I have a deepcool tesseract sw case. Pretty vague on the website on rad support.
+Vinny Vega That's a new one on me. Corsair CLCs are the same as every other Asetek or CoolIt made unit. I can't find a definitive answer on the Tesseract, but it does not appear to have enough height to fit a 240mm on top without interfering with MB components.
ew! Kinda wish I would of done a little more research before getting this case. It's still a nice case for 35 bucks. I'm not really getting cooling issues with my hyper 212 evo. I just wanted to switch to water cooling for cpu to give a little more space to add 2 more sticks of ram. My evo gets in the way of the far left slot
Ok so I am getting parts for my first ever PC build, im still confused for the cooler, is there a certain water I need to use? Do I have to clean it out before I put water in? And do I put the water in before I mount it?
so you talked about how the usb was in a funky place pointing up and how that was something you didnt like about this AIO, but in the next scene with no explanation you have the usb port routed from the bottom of the clc? whats going on there
Cant really decide which one to use, the H100v2 or the H110i. Like does the 140mm on the H110i create more airflow and have cooler temps, or is it really just money differences? I currently have built right now: NZXT Phantom 410 case Asus Sabertooth 990fx 3.0 motherboard AMD FX 8370 (black edition) 2 Radeon RX 480's (recent) 16gb ram EVGA supernova 850 G2 power supply
No real practical difference in my opinion but obviously I would always go for the bigger one. Got few of these including the H100i gtx ( not used or tested yet). 240mm (h100) pump (2000rpm) would always be faster than the 280mm (H110) pump ( 1500rpm). I assume that the same criteria does apply for the most recent models. The 240mm is also more flexible to fit as not all the cases do accept the bigger one. You recently missed a bargain from Scan.co.uk on refurbished H100i gtx @£59.99, they are practically new to me.Make sure you clean the radiator often and depends on your environment. On my pc's does not take more than 6 weeks to form the fluff which obviously would reduce performance but I also do not use any filters in my cases. You can get away by simple using a vacuum cleaner and an air compressor if possible for best results.
Sorry for asking, because im from Brazil and its dificult to understand you. Finishing the installation, do i have to connect tboth four pins to the watercoolers fans?
I have the same case with you, and the H115i. I connect the pump power cable (3 pin) to CPU_FAN header like the manual said. But what is the SATA cable coming out from the pump use for?
Can you do a pull, but with the fans inside the case? As in, still have it as an intake like you have done, but internally rather than externally or does it not work as well?
+David Taylor You physically could do that, but you would essentially be turning your case into a convection oven. You may gain a degree on your CPU temps, but it will be at the expense of the GPU, VRM, memory, MB, etc temps. Blowing heated air into your case is never a good idea.
Thank you! You're the only H110i GT review that showed the lighting effect so far.
My 110i GTX arrived today, along with a new Carbide 500 R case. I'm pumped to get my PC rebuilt with a better case and CLC.
A wonderful guide! How you did the wiring really helped because I was reading the comments while watching and couldn't understand the 'Don't plug into the MB'. It's the best guide I've seen yet for this. It's just made me want one even more now though.... :)

nice it works out of the box right, i don't gotta apply any fluid to it, i am guessing i could purchase more from the website right
That mobo header tip is fantastic. Definitely plugging mine into the psu when the time comes!

YS T Nope. Still Corsair SP series fans. Loud and dubious quality.
George Cella My blue LEDs failed me after 1 month of usage, corsair linked is f*ked up as well.
Did you remove the pre applied thermal paste from the water block?
+Kristopher Bholai Noctua NT-H1 was used for all testing.
+HiTechLegion that's not what he asked.
+TheOneWhoDerped Of course he did, dude. Whenever you switch coolers you've got to re-apply.
+Daniel Macías You never know... He may have missed it. Double the Paste. lol
I know you have to remove the thermal paste from the CPU when switching coolers but doesn't the h100i come with the thermal paste pre applied? So didn't he just have to mount it to the CPU already?

Thank you for posting. Overall this is a very helpful video, but I must take issue with "one of the best manuals I've seen".

"Connect the fans to the two connectors coming off the pump."
Again, the connectors coming off the pump have 3- and 4-pins.
I installed the h100i v2 to the cpu fan header the one that is specific to liquid cooling fans and it runs perfectly
***** No, and I believe corsair has an excellent warranty with damage coverage if that does happen. It's been solid thus far.
Thanks for video 3 years later
Not enough explaination in the videos, the viewers are confused after watching the videos, also with the molex cable, tell your viewers why never to plug into the mobo.
Dustin Mcphetridge Why not? (Should I be worried?)
Good Video but why are you pulling the Warm Air from Inside the Case? Why dont you mount the fans to the Suck the cooler Air from Outside through the radiator?
thank you so much you helped me fix my problem (and saved the last bit of sanity i had) i owe you
I'm planning on buying this one very soon. Thanks for the video! Liked & subbed.
Very detailed and explained installation, thanks! :)
Are you able to control the speed of the fans with them connected directly to the power supply through Corsair Link?
+george cella.. Ordered a new h100igtx yesterday... The pump block led blinks white on boot.. What should i interpret? Bad unit?
thank you for mentioning the backplate has some give to it - i was concerned about that during my install last night.

I can’t get the stand-off screws from the internal back plate out, help!
When tightening the thumbscrews, do you tighten until firm, or go until they stop?
I plugged my h100i Gtx into motherboard and installed correctly, it has power but when it goes to bios it says the cpu fans are not available and my cpu quickly goes up to 80-90 Celsius. Very worries and not sure what to do.
so do you have to fill it up with water or does it already come with water inside of it?
since you dont plug the header into the cpu fan header pins, do you just leave it with nothing on there?

How long do the cooling tubes reach. I have a large build and I'm not sure if it will reach my CPU from where the fans are attached
Thanks! However you could show us where is that USB header on a motherboard. Would u need to change the liquid ever so often?
Did the thermal paste have a plastic film over it that you had to remove? Asking because I'm hoping that I didn't install the plate with a film on it

Is that you Ray Romano?
Is this still good in 2020? I’m thinking to use it for i7 9700KF
For the H110I GT, at 9:17 he explains that 3pin 1 wire dummy plug, do you put that anywhere? I'm having trouble installing the h110, upon boot up it tells me there's a CPU fan error. any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
noob question... Coolant is already included inside of these all in ones?
To get my tubes in a good orientation i rotated the CPU block 90 degrees (corsair logo is now vertical). Is this bad for the pump? My temperatures are pretty good but just concerned if it puts strain on the system?
Hi! I just took this I said AIO but after mounting the blackplane and the 4 double screws there is a play of about 1 + mm! it's normal? somebody says to assemble rubber washers
why did you put thermal paste on the cpu when the aio block already has pre-applied paste?
What do you mean by "a little play" when screwing the back plate on?
Thank you.
Will the H110i GTX fit in the Thermaltake Chaser A71 Full Tower chassis?
I've got this set and was hoping to get some ideas on install, however, your video doesn't have audio.
+Illumination Classes Definitely an issue on your end. Audio is fine.
Can u Plzz tell me why should I never plug it in the cpu fan header?
What is the reason for not connecting the unit directly to the CPU fan header? Great manual btw..
My motherboard is Asus Z170-WS and I got H115i cooler with it, but I think my motherboard only has 1 USB 2.0 connecter, and my case also has a wire for it, what do i do?
will the 100i GTX work with a Socket 1151 Chipset, on an MSI Z170A GAMING M7 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
What's the life span of a liquid cooler?
does it matter where you put the fans? do the go on top or on the bottom in the case?
was wondering if anyone else placed the fan in pull. makes it easier to clean the radiator.
I have a problem the two pins on the cpu cover I don't know where to put em
im building a pc and i'm kinda confused does it come with the water inside of it already? all you need to do is hook it up to the cpu plug it in and everything should be ready to go?
Pre-filled
If it goes straight to power supply i think when it post up i will show cpu fan error right?
why are you not plugging it into the motherboard? did you have one get cooked?
So what is this pull and push thing and which is better?
Did u use any thermal paste to install the kit.
If yes which one ?
If no, then did u clean the stock thermal or u just let it be and install the kit on top of it.
Thanks
Younus Sikander Both of these units come with pre-applied TIM. Noctua NT-H1 was used for all testing.
This is the NZXT Phantom 530 (White) ATX Full Tower Case that is being used, correct? Trying to do some research to see if this cooler will fit in it.
+GitDatSheet Absolutely.
what's the difference between corsair h100i , h100i gtx, h110 , h110i gt ?
Should you get new thermal paste or keep the one that comes with it? if so what thermal paste would you recommend?
its good enought its only max 2c diffrent stock paste and after market one
Doesn't the H100i already come with the thermal compound already applied?

Installation is pretty straight forward. I heard that corsair is know for not being compatible with all cases that support 240mm. Was wondering if that's true? I have a deepcool tesseract sw case. Pretty vague on the website on rad support.
*Known*
Oblivion YT EE and custom maps It is filled with liquid coolant and sealed. There is never a need to fill it with water or coolant.
Very informative and helpful video
Thank you for your time.
so you talked about how the usb was in a funky place pointing up and how that was something you didnt like about this AIO, but in the next scene with no explanation you have the usb port routed from the bottom of the clc? whats going on there
lol, he changed back to the other cooler
bought a 3-pin to molex but it looks like they only have two pins in each 3-pin port, is this acceptable?
+joecool1890 Yes, the third wire is the speed sensor, which would not be used when plugging to the PSU.
so its bad to plug into a motherboard fan header?
Cant really decide which one to use, the H100v2 or the H110i.
Like does the 140mm on the H110i create more airflow and have cooler temps, or is it really just money differences?
I currently have built right now:
NZXT Phantom 410 case
Asus Sabertooth 990fx 3.0 motherboard
AMD FX 8370 (black edition)
2 Radeon RX 480's (recent)
16gb ram
EVGA supernova 850 G2 power supply
Learn english. Watch video.
so for that power adapter i take it the system is getting the FAN or Pump RPM from the USB port?
I have the same case with you, and the H115i.
I connect the pump power cable (3 pin) to CPU_FAN header like the manual said. But what is the SATA cable coming out from the pump use for?
Can I used it in any kind of motherboards?
Thank you! Brazil 🇧🇷 here!
Blowing heated air into your case is never a good idea.
i have a gigabyte h-270mobo what stand up pin ill use ty
