I find it weird that people are saying he’s playing it ‘wrong,’ there’s a few parts where he ignores how it’s written but isn’t that the whole purpose of playing an instrument? Finding your own sound, expressing yourself through the music. Obviously this isn’t always the case, some music is meant to be played a certain way, but this song I think is definitely open to interpretation
it is true. in some places some notes are deliberately omitted, generally on the bass. I think it is an effective interpretative choice because I too found them redundant.
Interpretation is one thing, but the four bars at the top of page two, he's ignoring the ties. This is currently an ABRSM exam piece on the Grade 7 list so this is misleading for any potential candidate.
This musician certainly has the poetic license to somewhat alter the piece beyond "mathematical" reproduction. This represents an eloquent performance.
This is achingly beautiful. I have several recordings of it by Señor Piazzolla with orchestra and have heard other piano transcriptions but this seems about as good as you are going to get for a solo instrument. Also, I appreciate seeing the score. Maybe before I die I could actually play this!
He's not playing exactly what's written. It's nice and it sounds good, and it's very expressive, so it's fine for normal playing, but if you're taking an exam, you should probably listen to another version.
Hi Angel Sanders unfortunately it's not me that sound this wonderful piece of Astor Piazzolla; I took the audio from a friend of mine (who plays him) and I created this video - Sound and Score. Anyway thank you and I invite you to watch more videos within my channel. Sign Up !!! giovysoudntrack
This edition is riddled with missed out accidentals and is difficult to read because the chords are not aligned correctly eg top line second page- extra chord ( tie) has been played and it should be middle C# ( last bar)and this is just for starters. A pleasant arrangement by Christine Chareyron. Try this: Astor Piazzolla. Milonga del Angel piano solo. to locate it on YT. Of course Zeigler & Ax perform a wonderful version on their 'Los Tangueros' CD ( 1997) for two pianos. Fantastic.
You don't play exactly what is written on the sheets: -> 4th line, 1-4 bar: wrong rythm. Syncopes, three, not four beats. -> 5th line, 2+3 bar: just one main melody, no thirds
Wheter intentional or accidental, I feel that ignorning the tie in those measures (thereby turning it into four beats instead of three) is wrong. It is the tied chord which establishes the tango rhythm.
Well, Sir.Monte Carlo. Tango Is a really popular genre, characterized by the improvisation on a base piece/sheet. Thus, the pianist adding some notes that he thought they could fit easily.
I’m only 9 so I don’t really have the right to say anything but I’m the best in my piano school and their are like 40 year old people but I don’t think whoever played this song is not a good piano player
Cakeity Cake No offense, but your grammar is like a 9 year old's too... It's "there" not "their". Also, nobody cares if you're the best in your piano school. And lastly, why are you assuming 40 year old people have to be great piano players?
You're right. You don't have the right to say anything. I'm a piano teacher, and this is well-played. Also, at 9yrs old you aren't even allowed to have a UA-cam account. It's 13+.
The score has MANY, MANY, MANY errors. Errors in notes' placements, resulting in the wrong rhythm, sharps missing, resulting in a terrible result. Plus the performer adds his/her own choices repeating the notes when not written, and not repeating when needed. This score is a disaster.
Maybe it does have some errors, but the music was beautiful and sensitive. If it follows exactly the music sheet, the piece will just be the piece the writer wrote. But what the pianist did here is that they made the song their own and that is beautiful.
@@alexarellano6778 Yes, I agree, the performance was nice. But please, stop saying that "it follows exactly the music sheet" because it doesn't. If you play the piano, or can follow the score, you will see straightaway that the performer does not follow what is written, and if you played the score as it is, it would sound terrible.
Ellen Weaver Tango is the opposite of following the notes exactly. There is a lot of freedom in tempo and dynamics that is extremely hard to capture in a score. It is actually quite a good rendition of this song.
My dad sent me this recording shortly before he died last Sept. I am glad this is one of the last things he heard on this earth.

@@SheilaJoynes yeah i found that odd
@@SheilaJoynes Well its the candidate's job to make sure that they play it correctly, not everyone else....
This piece is really well played!
Really nice upload. Thank you for showing the score as it is played.
Awesome playing for this song:))
Bella Musica! y buen performance!
Très belle interprétation...la meilleure. ...❤

Výnimočný interpret hrá nadčasovú skladbu.🙏
Someone, doesn't really have to listen to a whole band playing,to feel what tango is made of...a single instrument, may be a single presence..

Fantastic..😅
Bellissima
just want to point out at 0:50 you aren't supposed to play the fourth note.
That's half notes, but not fourths.
Was just about to say that
@@Oleg__ I think he means fourth as in number four
Thank you... that bugged me too ;-)
It was annoying 😫
Meravigliosa
To continue: I enjoyed listening to this and the rubato and was no way decrying the performer, but the edition is pants.
That motif at the beginning reminds me of Brahms’ intermezzo 118 no.2
Muy bella página....
I loved it and thanks for sharing. Could you possibly send me the sheet music, I cannot find it at the library. Mark

Dude, he is expressing well the author style. He is very good for me
When someone plays tango, you don't expect them to play exactly what the score says.

this is not played correctly
The rhythm is not played correctly, as others have noted, and the piece is not played very musically. Also, there is no mention of who the pianist is.
Ellen Weaver Tango is the opposite of following the notes exactly. There is a lot of freedom in tempo and dynamics that is extremely hard to capture in a score. It is actually quite a good rendition of this song.
Its a Tango, like Jazz the notation is NOT meant to be followed strictly.
A piece not for dancing , for me tempo is ok.
I think it's played beautifully and for all the people claiming it's a Tango, it is not. It is a Milonga. which is different from a Tango.
