I stepped away from UA-cam for about six months. You were the finest fisherman I have ever seen. And I’m from North Alabama. I can’t believe you don’t have 1 million subscribers. I followed your instructions and went up to Guntersville dam and slayed the panfish. You are a real bama gem.
I'm 58. I've been fishing since I was 5. I've learned more in the 3-4 weeks that I found this channel than I ever thought possible. Your explanations and demonstrations are clear and to the point. Thank you!
Mr. Richard, not sure you're aware but Brian Latimer really wants to fish/film with you. I think that would be an awesome video Great video as always. Thanks so much for continuing to teach us amateurs how to fish.
I spent many a year down on the Colorado river in Texas back in the day flipping rocks, looking for those rascals for pop and his buddies. I always tell people they haven't lived or fished, till you fish with a bait that bites you back..... What's even spookier is when they molt and grow wings, I have seen one clear out a camping picnic table in the evening. Richard when I saw that man it sure brought back a-lot of memories.
Love these videos, I love Richards enthusiasm, and the lessons he teaches, I love how he speaks of the Lord, my kids love to fish and they love watching your videos, especially the ending! Go fishing when ya can cuz it's good fer ya!
Thank you Richard for taking us along again. Appreciate everything you do and all the tips. God has truly blessed you sir. God bless you and your family and have a blessed day my friend.
You hear people on UA-cam using them when they fish, but none of them actually explain how to use them like you did. I love listening to you, and when my kids hear the outro they shout out "and remember."
Richard has a true gift that way. He is a humble man with lifetime of knowledge and God bless him for sharing it with us in a way we can comprehend it.
It’s great that you are always spreading knowledge about fishing and in ways that anyone can do. I have a boat but for most of my life I bank fished. Thanks for motivating us to get out there
That is what I love about creek fishing. You might not catch huge fish like a lake but once you figure them out it’s a lot easier to catch a pile just find water deep enough for them and give them something to bite
Gene, you have a place in our home on the regular. I have 3 boys that I take fishing frequently, but when we have time inside we watch “The Machine”!! Keep teaching all of us how it is done! It being living right!

Very good fishing, this place is fantastic has many big fish, Congratulations you are a very successful fisherman.👍🎣🥰👏👏 A hug and good fishing always!
I caught a 5lb smallmouth actually the biggest smallmouth I've ever caught throwing a Nikko hellgrammite up stream and letting the current take it. It was on a tiny trout rod. Took forever to get it in. lol I actually laid the rod down in my kayak and was reeling in a fish with my other rod when the 5 pounder took off with it I grabbed it up and threw the other rod down with the other fish still on.
I have been wanting to fish with artificial hellgrammites for years , but haven't. I've used live one, and they truly produce. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Love all your videos!
Mr. Gene, try the Zman BulletZ heads. It's basically a jig head with an ewg style hook, a bullet shaped head, and blob of lead at the hook offset so your bait never slips down. It's the best for a hellgrammite. And while you're at it, get you some Nikko hellgrammites. Best out there.
@@michaelvoorhees5978 the gear Richard is using in this video is about the same size and he caught sunfish just fine. I've caught so many on this gear that I couldn't count. They have small mouths but can still eat these hellgrammites. Especially the green sunfish and warmouth.
Another absolute gem sir! I cannot wait to get down to the creek and give this a try. So glad I started watching your channel, there are a couple others that teach me in a way that I can understand, but you are by far best teaching and natural fisherman I have ever encountered! God Bless you sir and we appreciate all you do for us!
I've used these a bunch in lakes and ponds and never got a bite,so there must be a difference between creeks and ponds or lakes, but I definitely ain't giving up lol awesome video as usual, man can catch a fish in a dried creek I believe lol
Nothing better than waking up to u fishing while I drink my coffee and prepare for a day on the water myself thank you so much brother we love you and God bless you and yours
I know i have some hellgrammites somewhere in my tackle box; after watching your video, I'm gonna give them another try. Thanks Richard, God bless, and wooooooooooo!
At first I thought that second thing you said you have caught on hellgrammites were limbs. I’ve caught limbs myself, but I don’t brag about it. Then I realized you probably meant largemouth bass.
When I was a kid my friend and I used to roll rocks and logs in the woods n swamp areas of South Jersey lookin for bait!!..Salamander, Hellgramits, You bring back great memories!!..You ain't kiddin everything hits them buggers!!!..Also frogs, grasshoppers, crickets! Ran out of minnows one fall day...Caught a grasshopper on the bank with my baseball cap...hooked it up and flipped it into a blowdown. BAM Nice Bass !!! Keep these great videos comin fishin machine!!!
I worked with ole Versal back in the 80s, always wondered how he got the nickname Booger. You know he never would tell anybody. We were both plumbers but he wouldn't wash his hands before lunch, said it added flavor to his Spam sandwich. Came from a good family I reckon, somewhere around Sand Mountain. Shame about his sister having six fingers on that one hand, she could wave and scare a fella half to death. Bless her heart
Excellent video Richard! After I watched your video on fishing artificial hellgrammites I found some on FishUSA. They have a variety of colors but only carry them in 2" size, the price isn't bad for a pack of 10. Thanks again for a great fishing adventure.
We used to slay the pan fish on those little poppers with piece of feather on them. Have a new batch of [ I don`t know what to call them as they my resemble flies for a fly rod ] tiny hook with a tiny molded weighted body on the hook with a tiny feather and in many different colors. There supposed to be for popping pan fish.
Oh my goodness I had just taken a drink of tea when you stated that 'Versal used to eat his boobers" and I spewed that mouthful of tea all over the room in a steam cloud. Man, that got me good and made my day. Haha.
If you watch this channel and don’t subscribe, you’re doing one of the finest anglers in America a disservice. This channel should EASILY be at 1 million subs.
Your are SO right about the little devils pinching you. When younger I'd fish many of the trout streams in the area (W. Wis. driftless area). Catch'em like you did and paid the price but what a great fish catching critter. Another great video Gene, God bless and keep'em coming.
