    Brian, I’m Jewish, of course I never pay MAP! I meant Amazon for disposables, cables, and small things. For large purchases I always go with Zzounds, iDJNow, or whoever gives the best deal.
    Hollywood DJ is also great!

    I bought my Denon SC Live4 over a holiday and 15% OFF last summer. Still yet to land a gig cause I work full time as well as other side hustles so I charge proly too high however I'm entering a DJ contest this summer in Austin. I hope a get a 20 minute slot.
    Your videos are the best! Thank you so much Brian.

    He's right. I have a good relationship with my sweetwater rep and often get a little off the top of MSRP for all my items. Usually takes care of any shipping and taxes I'd have paid already.

    I actually bought some gear from Amazon after I checked with several dealers and it was cheaper but this was a few years ago

    I have brought some Pa power amplifiers from over in China.. I brought 6 of them . I’m getting ready to buy (2) more . The original price is $800 dollars. I talk to the sale representatives. She talk with her boss . And said . She could do $750 dollars each on both amplifiers.. I said cool. I have been a loyal customer since then.

    Cool video! But it could be nice to bring numbers into perspective. Say if the MAP is $1200, how much can you expect to get the item if you develop a "good relationship"?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  2 місяці тому +1

      I didn't get into that because profit margins vary depending on the manufacturer of the gear, specific models of gear, etc. It's also going to depend on allocated gear. An example would be some of the Pioneer DJ controllers are hard to find, so supply & demand will usually keep those prices closer to MAP. However, IF you have built a good relationship with a retailer, they may be kind to you. I recently picked up a rare $799 MAP piece for closer to $600, BUT I have a very good relationship with that retailer. They probably gave it to me at cost just to be cool. They are in the business of making money, so they have to hold some profit, BUT they appreciate your business & the right retailer will take care of you. I've always done better with independent retailers than big chains. The more you buy over time & the more loyal you are, the kinder they'll be to you :)

      Next time, just for fun, call a smaller retailer. I mean, do your Amazon research first. Then make a call.

      so you go to amazon and pay MAP plus taxes and fees? how is that a win on Amazon?

      Amazon offers free installment plans. The websites have a fee for their service. I recently checked on one of the websites and called my sales person, he only knocked five dollars off the item. I was able to pick it up on Amazon with next day delivery For free. I was able to make six equal payments at no cost or no interest. So basically I got my item a lot faster for the same price. Me personally, I haven’t gotten much knocked off the actual price at any dealer. Just my opinion and my experience.
