Their song "My Favourite Game" is another one worth checking out. They also did a cover of Talking Heads' "Burning Down The House" with none other than Tom Jones, that you'll love!
Yes
I like their cover of "Iron Man" as well.
aka My favorite song by them
The Faithless remix of 'Favourite Game' is still my favourite track. It is the GranTurismo game franchise for me. Was used as the intro on GT2 for us here in Europe
Their last album was full on bangers especially
Overload
I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to Be Nicer
Don't Blame Your Daughter
Holy Love
And Then You Kissed Me II
My favorite Cardigans song!!!!! Woot!!!
Some more Garbage (another 90s female fronted rock band) would be good - stupid girl, queer, I think I’m paranoid, #1 crush, push it, special
Stupid Girl is amazing. #1 Crush is equally Amazing.
Only happy when it rains👌
Love The Cardigans…I recommend My Favorite Game ☺️
They are SOOOOO UNDERRATED!! My gosh, they have such a phenomenal discography
Another Swedish band. Two sisters in the band First Aid Kit. And a former Norwegian band, Katzenjammer. Four multiinstrumentalist and singers. Very famous in Germany and The Netherlands as well in Norway.
Oooh you guys should do the Scottish band "Texas" , their lead singer is a woman Sharlene Spiteri..
"I Don't Want A Lover"
"Say What You Want"
"Summer Son"
"When We Are Together"
"Halo"
"In Demand"
"In Our Lifetime"
"Put Your Arms Around Me".
Oh that's a good call 👍
Start at the beginning, I Don't Want A Lover is timeless.
Definitely. Texas are so underrated today, but they were huge in the late '80s through the '90s, especially here in the UK. Loved them from the start. Great songs, great singer, great videos.
Inner Smile
100% agree Texas are ace so many great songs
To my recollection you guys have never done Shirley Manson and Garbage for a female Friday! A powerhouse female for a Friday! Please do Garbage soon😃. Stupid Girl, I think I’m paranoid, only happy when it rains, are the main contenders.
They actually did! It was a couple months ago they reacted to, “Only Happy When it Rains” 😁
@@Asian_Jeremy thanks just discovered, had to vpn to US to bring it up, who knew!😀
@@sjc413 yeah, it doesn't come up in search
Recommend 'Bad Boyfriend' too! And 'Empty' and 'Cherry Lips' and I could go on and on...
This is such an underrated song. I never would've known about it if I hadn't heard it on that Drew Barrymore film Never Been Kissed.
It's also on the The Thirteenth Floor soundtrack.
@@jeffreyriley8742I never saw that, but I've heard of it.
Gran Turismo was a really great and very underrated album, very grungy, very different to what they did before, excellent album
GUYYYYS!!!
There’s an AWESOME DUET with…
THE CARDIGANS & TOM JONES:
“BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE”
It’s SOOOO GOOD!!
🥰🥰🥰
It is outstanding!!

Im very happy you going back to cardigans. I think even better songs are' My favourite game,' And 'I need some fine wine and you need to be nicer.' And imo their best song 'For what its worth'.
I can also strongly recommend another swedish female lead rock band. The sounds. They have a bunch of great songs.
Love Fool is iconic
IMHO they have 8 to 10 bangers. They have a huge range, and each of there songs is very different from each other. However they all have great instruments, great voice, and great lyrics. I’ll suggest something others probably won’t and go with, “For what it’s worth”
"Love me, love me, say that you love me..." You're welcome for having that song in your head all day now.
I've loved having that in my brain for several decades now, I refresh it with repeated plays often.
“Love Fool” is absolutely one of the best mid- 90s songs!! It’s such an awesome and catchy song!! “Erase and Rewind” is a pretty GREAT song too!
They did Love Fool already. Imo weaker of their other hits.
LOVE this song.
My favorite song from them, and one of my favorite songs in general.
I've loved this band since the 90's‼️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤❤❤❤❤❤🇬🇧💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You guys are missing a really great vibe back from the 80's
Martika " Toy Soldier ". Official music video...
I know Jay would find out who sampled the beat...
The Cardigans, lead singer Nina Persson, Peter Svensson (guitar), Lasse Johansson (keyboard )Magnus Sveningsson (bass) Bengt Lagerberg (drums) a band from the southern part of Sweden Jönköping, my hometown. Erase and rewind, huge popular song on the radio and Mtv back in 1999, and a proud moment in swedish music😊
This is off the soundtrack for The Thirteenth Floor. A cool sci-fi movie from 1999. The very beautiful Gretchen Mol is in the movie.
I'm so glad that you came back to this band, some more tracks by them are:
"My Favourite Game",
"Hanging Around",
"Rise and Shine",
"Sick and Tired",
"Celia Inside",
"Burning Down The House" with 'Tom Jones', cover of the 'Talking Heads' track.
There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.
Well said.
Been It
War
Higher
For What it’s Worth
Communication
I Need Some Fine Wine, and You, You Need To Be Nicer
Happy Meal
A Good Horse
Live and Learn
Feathers and Down
Just some of my favorites to add.
What she did in “A Camp” was good too.
@@adnap All great tracks.
@@InspectorVol Yes, I agree.
Oh my gosh! The Cardigans are one if my ALL TIME FAVES!! They never got the credit they deserved for being EASILY one of the most unique, innovative, deeply complex, endlessly genius bands to exist. Their songwriting is God tier. I can sit and analyze just one song for hours because there is SO MUCH to discuss lol. Here are some of my faves from them:
My New Cuckoo
THE great divide
Choke
Don't Tell Your Daughter
War
After All
The storm
Been it
For what it's worth
Daddy's car
And so many more lol!!
Also check out a band called Curve from the 1990s, a band with a female singer, songs like 'Missing Link', 'Fait Accompli', 'Clipped', 'Die Like a Dog', 'Galaxy', 'Chinese Burn'
Coast is Clear too. That one first put them on the map.
I don't take time out of my day to watch you guys, I PLAN to watch you two! You guys ARE part of my day!
I have said it before here but it is worth repeating that The Cardigans album Long Gone Before Daylight is one of the best albums of the 21st century, no exaggeration. I’d really love to see you react to “You’re the Storm.”
I love it too!
Love „the storm“ and the album 🤗
The Cardigans are absolutely slept on as a band.
You need to check out the Manic St Preachers, in their own right but there's one song where they play with the lead singer of the cardigans called 'Your love alone is not enough", awesome tune.
Same era, similar vibe. I think you'd LOVE Moloko.
The Time Is Now :)
Cardigans are one of my favourite bands of all time and this is from my favourite album of theirs. Saw Nina live in a very small venue last year touring her folk album with James Yorkson - voice is still amazing and she's still cool as fk.
Never been Kissed movie was the first time I was introduced to this song.
Gran Turismo was one of my favorite releases from that late 90s period. "My favorite Game" was awesome!
Finally . I requested this months ago.
Wow, I can’t believe one of you video DJ’s s is posting this. The entire album is great ❤. The lead singer has such a great voice. Marvel Hilll is so good, it sounds like it should be a James Bond title song.
Beth Orton also has a fine unusual voice.Try "she cries your name ,"Stars All Seem to Weep or " Concrete Sky."
"Stolen Car" "Central Reservation" "Best Bit" "This One's Gonna Bruise" "Magpie"
Such a great band. Changing their music over time. "Long gone before Daylight" is a fantastic album. Songs like "for what it's worth", a duet with Tom Jones, covers of Black Sabbath songs. They did it all.
❤This always reminds me of the Never Been Kissed 1999 Drew Barrymore movie. The Cardigans were so fresh and different from a lot of the bands in the late 90s. Hilarious movie with a cool soundtrack 😊
The Gran Turismo album (from 1998 I think) has quite a dark undertone to it - "Erase and Rewind", "My Favourite Game" (with a fantastic video) and songs like "Explode" and "Do You Believe" have an ominous feel to them. My favourite Cardigans record.
They will be playing at a festival at Djurgården in Stockholm next weekend. It is an outdoor event so I might hear them play as I'm often in the area photographing.
I notice you got the sanitised version of the video where the band is saved at the end. There's another version though where the walls don't stop and you see jump cuts of them desperately trying to save themselves from the camera's PoV, the feed shutting down just before they're crushed. Don't know if that version is readily available these days, but I remember it being a bonus feature on the CD-single. The band seemed to go through a phase of doing alternate macabre versions of their videos. My Favourite Game in particular has five different endings - four ways of dealing with a highspeed car crash (lucky/realistic/horror/looney-tunes) and a last one which ignores the crash entirely and cuts a lot of the reckless driving, which is the version that MTVUK played. Although again, if you bought the CD-single, you got the full version with all the endings. Will be interesting to see which version you get if you react to that song.
Live and Learn is another good one from the Cardigans
Who could forget The Cardigans and their smash hit, A Raisin Rewind?
This is one very underrated band that is much, much more than the sum of their parts.
Check out Good Horse next. They have lots of jams.
My Favourite Game is a belter too. Nina also sang on a track with the Manic Street Preachers called ‘You’re Love Alone’.
The Manics are another band for you to check out also. Motorcycle Emptiness being a great of theirs.
This song always takes me straight back to the summer of ‘99. I worked at a mall arcade that summer (remember when those were a thing?), and this was one of the music videos we had on rotation all summer. Super catchy, and it was a big revelation to me because I HATED Lovefool when that came out. This was the song that convinced me to give them a second chance, and I ended up quite liking them after that.
LOVE THIS SONG! A personal one for me. On that note, you may also want to check out another female fronted 90s band called Letters to Cleo. Their song "Here and Now" is fantastic.
Loved this song the first time I heard it - bought the album the next day.
A few days ago I was playing a Cardigan CD (yees I still play those) in my car and wondered if you two had ever reacted to one of their videos. I saw That you had listened to Love Fool, and watched it. Jay, you commented on how blue her eyes were. I was hoping you would react to them, and without even mentioning it here is a reaction to a Cardigan song.
One of the guys in the band is one of the writers for the biggest hits of "The Weekend"'s stuff.
Also Please don't forget to check out:
Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man - Candy Man (Both Great Horns !!) Also - Lady Marmalad
Annie Lenox (Eurythmics) - Would I Lie to You - I Need a Man - Thorn in My Side
Gwen Stefanie - It's My Life - What You Waiting For
Shikira - When ever Where ever - Objection Tango
Head Pins - Don't it Make You Feel (like Dancing) - Turn it Loud - Just One More Time
Toronto - Your Daddy Don't Know - Start Telling the Truth
Check out The Cardigans doing a cover of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath. It’s awesome!
The room closing in on them reminded me of the scene in star wars when they are trying to save Princess Leia and they get stuck in the trash compactor room
Creeping ever closer to discovering Portishead...
🙏
Another contemporary swedish band to check out could be "The Wannadies" e.g. My Hometown, or Things That I Would Love To Have Undome
Nice vibe indeed. The Cardigans are excellent. Please please react to their explosive “My Favourite Game” which has 1 of the best and most controversial videos of all time! Also their song, “I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to Be Nicer" is another great, fiery track.
Wasnt this song on the MTV Nr.1 hit for coule of weeks or months? I remembered it at that time everyone was going around and sang it 😀
The Cardigans are a great band, and this song is my favourite from them. How about a reaction to Skunk Anansie? Skin (lead singer) is easily one of the best female rock singers from the 90´s and a great pick for female Fridays! "Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)", "Brazen (Weep)", "Charlie Big Potato" and "Secretly" are some of the great songs to begin!
This is a song my wife plays all the time, she has the album. Glad to see you got to it. 😃
Another good one is My Favorite Game. I missed the day you did Love Fool, I'll have to go back to look for it.
You should also check out Lenka, another of my wife's favorite artists. I actually heard her song The Show in my Dentist Office just the other day. Give Regina Spektor a looksie too!
Another great Cardigans track to check out is' For What It's Worth'. Another very different vibe from this band.
there were many great songs that made it big on the UK charts that the USA ignored
"My Favourite Game" is a killer! Both the song and the video are heavy stuff. Do them!
Very cool song by them!! The riff is killer & the beat is so infectious….they do a cool version of Iron Man as well 🤘🏽❤️🔥🤘🏽❤️🔥🤘🏽
i like most of the cardigan songs and they have quite a few wich made it to radio/mtv
Boom boom by John Lee Hooker
At last by Etta James
Music by John Miles
The first time ever I saw your face by Roberta Flack
You take my breath away by Queen
Music by John Miles will become one of their favourites. It could be their theme song
Staying in Scandinavia, you would love Bjork and her version of "It's Oh So Quiet". Brass galore and awesome video
I Love this song, The whole sound of this band is like a vibe that you want to continue! An Amazing band that you should do for Female Friday is Metric! Please! "Risk" and "Gold, Guns and Girls" or "Breathing Underwater". They have been around for 25 Years so the catalog is HUGE.
This and My Favourite Game are my favorites of theirs! Whenever I hear this one, I think of the movie Never Been Kissed, which used it. You guys should definitely give that a watch on your movie reaction channel.
My favorite Cardigans song . I don't recall if you've done Love Fool, their big American hit (Romeo + Juliet soundtrack) but, it's great. Apple Music has been flooding my car playlist with more of their music, lately. I'll try and look for titles of favorites.
Oh yeah, Nina Persson also had a band called A Camp, and their cover of The Bluest Eyes In Texas that they did for the film, Boys Don’t Cry, is also another great one. As for The Cardigans, All of Gran Turismo is a masterpiece, as are most of their albums.
"My Favourite Game" is the next one of theirs to check out! It's my favourite! Damn, serious flashbacks to my 20s!
Another great original is "Rise and Shine", but you should also check out their covers of early Metal songs like Black Sabbath's Iron Man.
Honestly my taste for the cardigans ends about the time this album starts… “Life” and “First Band on the Moon” are both great albums. They have definite throwback to the 60’s vibes, but the artistry is amazing.
Saint Etienne - He's on the phone. A classic 90s indie dance track.
The Cardigans are big Depeche Mode fans, so electronic rock is their staple
For female Friday, need to check out Missing Persons. Great early 80s band with quirky female lead singer. Their biggest hits are Destination Unknown and Words.
the bluest eyes in Texas, by A Camp. the lead singer of the Cardigans was the singer.from the film boys don't cry.
Aqua - Turn Back Time 👍👍👍
This is a great song. I also recommend "Heart Attack" by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.
I was literally just listening to this song this morning
It was excellent, and had a very different sound of its own pretty unique in my opinion
Amazing song and my favourite of theres for sure
My Favourite Game by the Cardigans is killer!
I'm also voting My Favourite Game for the next listen but also You Love Alone which Nina sings with Manic Street Preachers.
I don't think you've done MSP at all - I'd recommend A Design for Life, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, or Motorcycle Emptiness - all great!
Love it, totally great, brings back many memories.
"I can't quit you baby" Led Zeppelin
For no other reason than that this is what I was listening to in the 90's, I would REALLY recommend Nick Drake. If you haven't heard him yet you should, or at least Amber should 😉! One of These Things First, Poor Boy (!), Pink Moon, Place to Be, Northern Sky, River Man, Black Eyed Dog... Cello Song, Fruit Tree... I can´t choose, all so many, and all so good!🔥
Hangin Around is their greatest single
I agree with the other commenters, you should defintely check out 'My Favourite Game'! As for other 90s era songs with a similar vibe for Female Friday, I suggest:
Mulder and Scully - Catatonia
Ready to Go - Republica
Summer Son - Texas
And for the early 00s you should check out Metric! Gold Guns Girls, Help I'm Alive and The Twist are my favourites, though you might also like Black Sheep, which was covered by Brie Larson in Scott Pilgrim Vs the World.
Love the Cardigans :)
Hey guys! This is a great song from The Cardigans. It's a better representation of their actual sound than "Lovefool" is, (although I love that song). Definitely check out "My Favorite Game" next. Thx! Peace out. 🕊 Note: I don't know if it was mentioned, but The Cardigans are from Sweden.
Kiss - War Machine
My favorite Cardigans song is "Been It." I think you'd really enjoy that one!
🇬🇧 The Cardigans & Tom Jones, yes.... THE Tom Jones) did a GREAT cover of Talking Heads's "Burning Down The House". You'd both love it. 🎶🎼❤
Brilliant Track. Absolute Gem.👏👌❤️
90's suggestion - "Who Will Save Your Soul?" by Jewel. She did a great performance at Woodstock 1999.
I never skip this in my playlist. It’s just vibey and like you said just 😎 cool. I gotta check if you reacted to 6 underground cause it’s kinda the same feeling.
All these years and I never knew this was by The Cardigans, shame on me lol this was also in the movie Never Been Kissed
Another great band from Sweden would be Kent. They are the second most famous band after ABBA there. Kent is an amazing band. Most of their albums are in Swedish, but they have two in English. ISOLA AND Hagtesta Hill. 747 is an amazing song by them. They never made it in the US but they did tour with The Cardigans in the US in the early 2000s
Lauren Anderson is a must for a Friday “Love Again”
Yes, definitely a cruising song.
Jay is right 1999, a cool vibe from this Swedish group-Colin Ward
The proclaimers " the first attack" amazing harmonies
I was a teenager when heard this on the music channel
